"life is hard but that's not an excuse at all" ... hello 2025 and thank you for this absolute piece of shit welcome. when your stomach gestates a ball of utter anxiety and sadness, your mind dreams on suicidal lust and hatred, just fight back with fearless vomits, shall I ? don't care, here you have the almost-monthly-puke: RADIATION(Svk) - Reactor Colapse album 2025, these crazy psychos from Slovakia have released their second album on all physical formats, as you may have seen on this very site, their flyer. Expect classical blackened Thrash Metal with attitude. A project that every supporter of underground acts must worship. Beers from the southern vomitted lands slovakian thrashers! May the collapsed plutanium-overdose gift you in the most doomish chaos! METALLIST(Est) - Frankenstein 1985, shitty mp3. This album comes with 9 tracks of Heavy Metal heavily influenced by the new wave, in fact I perceive the tezz from DISCHARGE(UK) ways on vox, pretty similar vocal tune, they were inspired by bands like TRAITORS GATE(UK) , IRON MAIDEN(UK) and JUDAS PRIEST(UK) , also ressembling to ATLAIN(Ger) and POKOLGEP(Hun) . Tracks are "Arrow and the sword" , "Kahehäälsus" , "Frankenstein" starting as if it were ACDC(Aus) , and musically speaking it's also HARD ROCK, "Köiksuse Harmoonia" in the "Rocka Rolla" album vein, "Pölev Mees", "Eagle", "Aeg" , "Püüd" with a great riff that reminded me of early MERCYFUL FATE(Dnk) , but in fact I listened to that in DEATH ROW(Ger) in a faster way, "Hope Land" with more JUDAS PRIEST on slow parts ala "Victim of Changes". The whole recording is good, nothing so remarkable but interesting being from Estonia. Thanks fukulo for this recommendation which was not from Russia and had no female vocalist either, but was a good catch for enjoying some underground heavy metal project. Anyone having a copy of this please write to me! METALLIST(Est) - Metallistomaania 1985 demo. "Metallistomaania" track starts really Punk mixed with some good Heavy Metal solos. "Lapsemeelskes" came back to the Metal realms, in the DIO(US) vein mixed with arpeggios and intense bass activities to fall into what I would call a mixutre between JUDAS PRIEST(UK) and BLACK SABBATH(UK) because vox made me think of an OZZY mimick, "Nõid" , "Eldorado" again ala JUDAS PRIEST , "Viikingid" probably the heaviest track, pretty good, "P.K.N.P.K." , and finally "Teel vastu päikesele" has some JETHRO TULL(UK) on its compositions I guess. As you can see, they kept experimenting with their compositions, less Heavy Metal and more Rock-oriented music. I would not recommend this as much as their first release, only to satiate estonian-rockuriosity. METALLIST(Est) - Aikesehingus 1986, their second album, counting on a cleaner sound, better production, they turned into a more sofisticated Hard Rock band, instantly reminded me of THE CULT(UK) with their opening track "Algus" , "Aikesehingus" comes in the BLACK SABBATH(UK) flavour even mimicking OZZY in a 100% , "Unenagu" is like DEEP PURPLE(UK) with DIO(US) and SCORPIONS(Ger) so the sphere changed quite a lot if we compare this track against their first couple, "Puus Tudruk" vocals became a little different, I doubt if this is the very same vocalist, may be he is really versatile, his tune is in the SAXON(UK) ways and THE CULT is still present mixed with POKOLGEP(Hun) and DIO(US), "Tuum" has nothing to do with what I wrote before, Is like jazz-fusion music which turns into a more electric sound with synth and so on... JEFF BECK(US) is what rang the bell, the vocalist pronunciation keeps me in the POKOLGEP ways but with totally diffrent music and the THE CULT vocal tune with no doubt, "Jaaminek" seems to be done in a pretty STEVE VAI(US) way in lots of aspects, ala "Passion and Warfare" album, "Ave Ceasar" closes this totally weird release slowly rising into the DIO and JUDAS PRIEST ways mixed with DEEP PURPLE and SCORPIONS ; here you realise this band was focusing into the best-sellers more than creating their own kind of obscure heavy metal exposure. Thanks my friend den for your help tracing these recordings!!! I won't spare words on "Back Page News" album because is total crap! MALICIOUS ONSLAUGHT(US) - Rebellious Mayhem 1992, dubbed. Weird Death Metal/Thrash Metal act, weirdly produced and weirdly composed, good mixture of weird stuff . I would define this as a RECIPIENTS OF DEATH(US) , to avoid mentioning SLAYER(US) , MALEVOLENT CREATION(US) 1st LP era, MORBID SAINT(US) , DEATH(US) , little MORBID ANGEL(US) and DEVASTATION(US) [chicago] combo... "Transgressor" opens the album with a mixture of music that made me think of DEMISE(US) , DEVASTATION, probably on some vocal rythms, "Beyond evil" made me think of "Kill again" by SLAYER and has a scream that can also lead you to AGRESSION(Can) or MAGNUS(Pol) but only instantly, this is a pretty good track. The omonimous "Rebellious Mayhem" starts again with a different production of what you listen on the aforementioned tracks, this sounds like a compilation more than an album... bass is remarked here, vocals are more obscure and guitars keep being absorved by snare-too-loud sound, I thought of DVC(US) too , I wish they kept their fast tempo instead of lots of up-downs strategy, but that's their way, so it's okey, here I can hear some David Vincent's mimicks on vocals. "Emotional Death" , pretty good name he, great track but quite slow, into the "Show no mercy" era culminating with that jazzy chord ha! "Extinction of God" strikes back with speed in the vein of "Inverted Crosses" from THE UNSANE(US) with great riffs and bass according to the aggression needed for the composition, luckily guitars are louder. "Speculate the future" with a lower production, has great cut-fast-and-skilled riffs showing of the master musicians they were, I am tempted to compare them with VACANT GRAVE(US) on their "Life or Death" album, I can also think of "Guts for dinner" from FATAL(US) , vocals are greatly violent, in the end it's a highlight. "Thrashed black" comes up with a bass solo followed by an egyptian scale falling into deathrash ways, some up-n-down-tremolos again from SLAYER. "Revenge of the innocent" is like "Master of Disguise" from SAVAGE GRACE(US) but much faster and extreme, now do you believe this is weird? HA! This is not for everyone I would say, but in the end it's hell of a recording, it captures the best of the deathrash world with a Death metal production, despite being mixed with un-production tracks, I would recommend this to anyone willing to experience this mixture of top-nocht deathrash bands from the 80s but done in the early 90s. NOTE: further reading regarding this release, in fact is a compilation of the recordings sessions for the "Thrashed Black" 1988 demo and the "Mallicious Onslaught Rehearsal" demo 1990, that's why the different mix among tracks, and that's why the foot on the 80s grave was present. Excellent! SATANCHIST(Cze) - Drtiči kacířských pohlaví 1992 LP by Hexencave Productions. Unknown to me, this has similarities with CELTIC FROST(Swi) , MORTUARY DRAPE(Ita) in the Black and Thrash Metal aspects, but with some different approaches on guitars that take them into the Death Metal realm, of course the deep growls are also part of that, to name something on that field I would say DEMENTOR(Svk) NECROPHAGIA(US) , DARK(Cze) , some AUTOPSY(US) , and some Brazilian-Thrash ideas here and there which also made me think of SAX(Cze) , their sound on guitars solos and their style are particularly Hard Rock, great mixture, the whole crude almost-rehearsal sound, mostly on drumming, is fantastic and healthy for the recording. Definately a great release for those who appreciate music coming from this country with hell of an identity thanks to being sung in Czech, besides the fact the guy seems to be about to vomit his own guts on some violent-regurgitating-screams ha! Highly recommended. MARCA ACME(Ury) - Quebrando Cráneos 2022, independently released on CDR plus pro cover. First album by these maniacs, can you believe it? What a fukin achievement!! For those unknowing them, this is the only real Thrash Metal band from Uruguay, yes, you read it well, the only real, and they are not from the capital city, but San José. They have been active, switching monickers along with little lineup arrangements, for more than 30 years, yeah man they kill beyond killness!! This recording starts with "Experimentando con cadáveres frescos" which starts as if they have finally listened to CANNIBAL CORPSE(US) but they have such a unique touch that you can feel their mixture absolutely well done. Lyrics are totally sung in spanish and that's what makes them so unique and probably so underated too, locally and internationally speaking, despite the fact that they are not from montevideo and were always ignored by most, what a huge fukin pity. "Sonido de perdición" follows with the classical MARCA ACME-ish approach with some almost punk melodies, solos are from beyond, shit alexis you still are a fukin guitar hero! "Profundos abismos sombríos" comes from 2007 , by then ATROZER(Ury) , taken from "Ultimo Momento" demo, they decided to re-recorded it for this release along with "Cruda Realidad" from the same demo, what to say... both versions are great, now more produced with effects on vox and probably more complete drumming, I love their music, their ways, their identity and mostly the spectacular and funny and sadistic spanish lyrics, oh and they always mixed their music with some Death metal. "Sangra Uruguay" is a weak track mixing Speed Metal and Heavy Metal, that's what makes it weak for their common style, and has some ugly clean vox I cannot stand, sorry Jhonan HA! I believe I already talked about it before on some reviews from live gigs in the past, on my fanzine. "Quebrando Cráneo" , who gave the name to this album, has a weird chorus, the rest seems coherent to what they do. Not as remarkable as I would expect honestly, I think it was better live because it was not that clean. And to close this release they decided to add an INNER SACTUM(Ury) cover, the well-known "Wastelands", played sometimes live before, along with "Espirales" and "Instinto Salvaje" from CROSS(Ury) , eyyy Johnan!!! Wait a minute, what the fuk!!?!? now you sing in English!!! HAHAHA! ; Jhonan (vox) always told me "why the fuk people try to cover bands from abroad when we have such great bands that were real influences on all of us? if you want to play a cover, first you do a local one, then do whatever the fuk you want..." and there's when I decided to play ANGKOR VAT(Ury) cover "I want to know" with my band PHERETRUM(Ury) HA! These guys are a huge personal inspiration not only in music but as a humble-model to follow and to highlight that outside the buble in montevideo, warriors are present doing total extreme and unique music, being uniquness something that present times lack of. These are the words from a metalhead inspired by these metalheads from the underworld. Greetings to my friends Aldo, Jhonnan and Alexis, you still rule! Congrats! EXPULSED ANGEL(GER) & PHERETRUM(URY) - Split EP by the mighty Life Eternal Productions. Finally this was matherialized! I am not spreading words on PHERETRUM but in those who deserve it. EXPULSED ANGEL is known for their chaotic and noisy approach but this time they stepped ahead, they have achieved a cleaner production yet crude, total Black/Death/Thrash!! In my opinion, this is the best they have done so far, "Lord of Darkness" track, with its sharp and mad axe, typical from the rusty mind of Steppe, drums are heavywoodstickshammers plus a present and fat bass which at dense parts ressembles to DEATH COURIER(Gre) with its brightness but at the same time dense, this whole combination of different rythms delivers a really insane result, embraced by a dark and lunatic black aura thanks to the vocals. One can think of projects like POISON(Ger) in their demo era plus some Czech/Polish ideas in that of fast guitar changes with sharp notes, I could also think of NECROVOMIT(Ita) in a slower but intense manner, VOMITOR(Aus) can be referenced too and a Brazilian intention is always present. This time you can appreciate really good solos that perfectly go along with the madness. This is absolutely a keystone for their career, hopefully we will be seeing the extension of this new EXPULSED ANGEL in the future to come, a beer and a punch in the darkened skies for them! Totally recommended! Schießköpferen-maniacs in their ugliest form! Prost! Thanks Thomas for making this possible under your highly curated label, we are honoured! ULYSSES SIREN(US) - Above the Ashes compilation. This compilation includes "Terrorist Attack" and "Demo '87" . Since I first knew the mighty BLACK DETHE(US) , I was always intrigued by this project, because I only knew that BLACK DETHE played with them. Today I was relistening to my BLACK DETHE CDR and wondered if after 15 years this could be found somewhere, and it was... This would be an extension of EXODUS(US) . Has a great sound, great production and even though you recognize some METALLICA(US) influences on riffs in "The Reich" and "Lake of fire" (yes is not NOCTURNUS(US) track HA! ), and vocals are pretty similar to Paul's from EXODUS, this has something extra that makes them a good catch. The following demo has quite a different production, was it EVIL DEAD(US) that sounded like this? cannot recall... here they started experimenting a little bit with other instruments, ideas, as you can initially listen on "Leviathan" where arpeggio's are found. "Above the ashes" start with a great scream ressembling to TERRAHSPHERE(US) but the groove is too invasive in my opinion, and vocals suffered a little shift towards that kind of bay Thrash Metal I just can't cope with. "The Resurrection" gets back to where they started luckily, fastpaced track with great soloing. "No trace of shame" kills the demo with techinical riffs following the previous tracks steps with some ugly choruses. For any thrasher out there, this is can be your catch! MESSIAH FORCE(Can) - The Last Day 1987, dubbed tape. The uruguayan bootleger never stops. This is a rare item and pretty expensive, so dubbing a tape with the real vinyl rip was my option (like many other times) . Initially this band sounded too ugly in my ears... guess what... mp3 ruined the whole fukin experience back then... their name came across when exchanging female-vox bands with erik ( XENOTAPH(Arg) ) , obviously I was tempted to re-listen to them and this time the experience was mindblowing. The whole album is dynamic, full of great riffs, solos, screams and speed, no doubt Lynn, the vocalist, is hellishly skilled for her duties. You will encounter ton of influences coming from METALLICA(US) to ANNIHILATOR(Can) , EXODUS(US) and WARLOCK(Ger) 's Doro, VENDETTA(Ger) with some HOLY MOSES(Ger) 's Sabina on some ripping phrases plus HELLION(US) 's Ann with little SENTINEL BEAST(US) 's Debbie. Looking for real skilled Speed/Thrash Metal? this won't fail, unless you get stupid mp3s. Hugely recommended. RAJAS(Jpn) - Rajas 1st 1984, MLP by Sounds Marketing System Inc. This was one of those exchanged names too, I knew their first LP which was too melodic for me, but never cared about their previous EP, well... great stuff here, quite melodic yes but still good, even though has its more Speed Metal tracks with hell of a perfect drumming along with top Rock production, this reminds me to Маркиза(Rus) , little bit more Metal but their soft parts go quite along. Something I found quite peculiar was the fact that lyrics are written part in english, part in japanese, pretty interesting approach, the vocal tune is great too and has its great moments. Not for everyone but definitely for fans of catchy Heavy Metal/Rock with melodies. HROB(Svk) - Hrob Demo 2023 tape by Atomic Vision Productions. This is the Death/Doom Metal project from Slovakia, vrana from RADIATION(Svk) is part of it. This has a clear sound of AUTOPSY(US) on their slow parts and the whole production sounds quite swedish, deep growls in the north american 90s ways, and one can also identify MORTUARY DRAPE(Ita) 's ways on some enviroments, so surely obscure. Quite a good mixture indeed including a great plus, they sing in their own language. I am not too keen on this genre, so I am exposing them only for the sake of sharing with those willing to dig on slovakian activities. HATROSS(Pan) - Death Cult Demo 2010, wavs. This is a panamenian Death Metal with thrash metal spices. Their sound is not too classic but transports you to the early 2000s sound with those digital pedals in guitars, their guitar-distortion is close to what modern Grindcore/Goregrind projects sometimes use, and I must say that contemporary projects from Uruguay were using the same for Death Metal, I kind of recognize that sound. Swedish Death Metal influences seem to be the most notorious here if I am not wrong, bass sound and the approaches on drumming are the key to identify this. Not knowing tons of projects from this country, this seems to be a good catch. This is another project of JR Sucre who was in bands like AGGRESSOR(Pan) , later ENSLAVER(Pan) , ABATUAR(Pan) , ANTUMNIA(Pan) and ABERRANTE(Pan) , this old bastard seems dedicated, doesn't he? HATROSS(Pan) - Vengeance of Evil 2015, wavs. The radical change on the guitar distortion makes them close to noise projects, but the ideas seems to be the same. May be more CARCASS(UK) from their early career, some NAPALM DEATH(UK) and BOLT THROWER(UK) . Seems not too good in terms of sound but you easily gets used to it and everything ends up being just where it has to. This includes a killer cover from "Total Extermination" by AGGRESSOR(Pan) , this version is not better than the original but is really killer too, mostly because vocals are wicked. Believe it or not, the last live tracks are the best and is totally in the early BOLT THROWER(UK) vein "Infernal Massacre" & "Death Cult" and vocals are excellent. Thank you so much again Raúl for these recordings! GENITAL NECROSIS(Gre) - #1 (1989) , fanzine from Greece done by sakis from ROTTING CHRIST(Gre) . This is hell of a complete fanzine with tons of information, quite lengthy with a, friendly attitude let's say, or innocent. I would compare its importance to their local scene with: BLOWING THRASH(Chl) , SATANIC DEATH(Jpn) , BLACK THORN(Dnk) or SLAYER(Nor) , due to the amount of exposed names from the whole fukin globe . Has a band's review/biography section which is quite good , short but good interview with bill steer from CARCASS(UK) , one short but good with nicke from NIHILIST(Swe) , short and good one with peter from VADER(Pol) , poor answered int with chris form AUTOPSY(US) seems he was not in the mood for sharing words, what an asshole... short and good CADAVER(Nor) int , good and short with CADAVERIZER(UK) , really good and interesting int with an unknown belgian project to me, DAMAGED CORPSE(Bel) , a weak int with NUN SLAUGHTER(US) , funny one with MERCILESS(Swe) , short but good SADISTIC NOISE(Gre) (this reminded me to you Pablo nekroperverter for your recommendation, I still haven't taken it, but will, as soon as I have the time to dig into something new! cheers! ) , short and acceptable int with DECIMATION(US) did not know this project pre VIOLENCE(US) , will check it too, the same words goes for the OBITUARY(US) int, too short but good TOXODEATH(Mex) int with raul , funny one with ASPHYX(Hol) , shorty with GRAVE(Hol) , shorty but good DAMNED CROSS(Mex) int, good one with OLD(US) , short but good HELLBASTARD(UK) , the same for IMMOLATION(US) pre-90s death metal existence so it's quite interesting the point of view of doing something different at the time, good int w/ DREAD(Sng) , one with BLACK SATAN(Swe) where LG petrov took place too, I have never listened to this, still on my wishlist. A NAUSEA(Jpn) int, had no idea about another NAUSEA honestly... good short one with MORTEM(Nor) , good one with REGURGITATION(US) , another good short one with DISHARMONIC ORCHESTRA(Aut) , great short one with NOCTURNUS(US) 's mike , the same goes for ACHERON(US) 's vincent ... in the end all the ints are short not boring but not too in depth either, they are ok to expose monickers and opinion/attitudes towards the underground scenes and their ideas in general terms, all questions do not vary too much but are not bad either, somehow expected for that period of time, answers quite suck from time to time, I believe this is the ignorance of unknowing the effor required to publish a fukin fanzine by some of the interviewees... Some promos are added among ints , there are some Chilean ones, besides comments on Braizlian scene, you can realise the impact by this other south amerikan country, and the last chapter is a pile of reviews. Highly recommended to re-read about some of the best underground bands from the real frame of time.
Let's this span of time called year, to fukin die out. But not without vomits: METRALION(Bra) - Quo Vadis 1988, RE 2022 double CD by Dies Irae. Got to know this project through the fanzine "A mosh in Brazil" , thanks to my friend Felipe CDC (greetings my friend!) , because of its name of course, remarked by my friend Victor SOS, never got hooked by them when checked that EP. Years later, I came across with my friend Ader (Dies Irae) and throw this to me. This is a Thrash metal act in the same vein of bands like DORSAL ATLANTICA(BRA) and MUTILATOR(Bra) , KORZUS(Bra) could also be referenced due to SLAYER(US) -ish riffs. Some solos seem to have inspired ANGKOR VAT(Ury) , check "Porcos da lei" track on the slow part, and riffs too, "Herois de guerra" begins as if it were them. In the end, the SLAYER influences are there and once again I can refer to SS(Ven) . This recording is much better than the aformentioned EP but is not that remarkable, is a good dosis of brazilian Thrash Metal but better albums were being released during those times in my opinion. This double CD includes their demo from 1987 entitled "Tiranos" and is on the very same line, little lower quality but the music is equal, may be better screams here and there. For those looking for brazilian Thrash Metal, this is good to know but do not expect something better than what you already know. Or may be, if you are in loved with portuguese-sung tracks, this will suit your dirty desires for sure. CADAVER(Nor) - Abnormal Deformity Demo 1989, dubbed. 6 tracks of Death Metal in the mixture of UK-Sweden scenes. You can easily recognize intentions from bands like HETSHEADS(Swe) , AFFLICTED(Swe) , SUFFER(Swe) and CARCASS(UK) , BOLT THROWER(UK) with a deathrash environment despite counting on more blastbeats and groove than the early deathrash metal classics, I even thought of "Impulse to destroy" album by BLOOD(Ger) . Although this is a typical approach for the 90s DM bands, this demo comes with that extra lower quality and thrash metal aspects, even with its chaotic vocals, that makes it a perfect candidate for anyone curious on the norwegian scene. Recommended for those unknowing them. CADAVER(Nor) - Hallucinating Axiety album 1990, dubbed. Well, this is a classic recording, the production is what made this band more appealing to those needing cleaner sound than what you can find on their previous recordings (which are neat in my opinion, fuk avoiders of demos) . Beginning with that intro mimicking , I suppose, flies over mutilated corpses, entitled "Tuba". Then jumps into "Ignominous Ezcema" with a sempithernal looping riff which ressembles to technical deathmetal ideas used by DEMILICH(Fin) , accompanied by a little doomier riffs in the vein of "Mindwarp" by DEATH COURIER(Ger) , if you were used to their demo sound, the ripping vocals are now deeper, sadly that chaotic innocence was somehow lost. "Corrosive Delirium" was part of their demo and is here again, cleaner, you will recognize that influences metioned above, is also followed by "Erosive Fester" giving space for the omonimous track "Hallucinating Anxiety" in that NIHILIST(Swe) vein with blasts and those riffs used also on the first track, you can also perceive the AUTOPSY(US) influences when on hammerish-doomish riffs , and now I realised the guitars seem inspired by what you find on OLD FUNERAL(Nor) 's "Abduction of limbs" demo. I haven't listened to this recoring for quite a long time and is the first time I realise this ha! "Cannibalistic Dissection" also comes from the previous demo, here you find SLAYER(US) influences on the closing riff. "Hypertrphyan" kills A-side with a summarize on their dyanamism for varied compositions inspired by different corners of extreme metal. On the other side of that other side, "Petrifyed Faces" keeps the swedish-american DM line followed by "Innominate" fuk I heard that riff somewhere else... then again falling into DEMILICH-ish approach. And this pile of tracks; "Twisted Collapse" , "Abnormal Deformity" also from the demo, "Maelstorm" , "Mental Abherrance", "Bodily Trauma" don't allow me to add anything else because the whole recording is pretty tight on its ways of playing a techcnial Death metal. To sum up, a great and solid Death Metal recording for fans of the early 90s DM. WHITE HELL(Jpn) - Lucifer EP 1985, mp3-CDR. A VENOM(UK) - MOTORHEAD(UK) worship mixed with BLACK SABBATH(UK) is what you get on their three tracks "Lucifer" , "Nuclear" and "White Hell" . It's always good to know projects from this country but this won't impress you more than what you can find out there during that period of time. Also in my wishlist to get rid of this mp3. Get in touch! SALEM(Isr) - Destruction till Death 1987, mp3-CDR. I think BESTIAL DEATH(Isr) is the only band I know from there and fukin love it, this demo is much more privimitive than the "Suicide of the Immortals" but as the artwork of that demo was created by one of SALEM's members (as far as I remember) , I always wanted to get their demos before their change in direction. It was never possible so ended up with this CDR. If you remember POISON(Ger) 's early demos (like "Sons of evil" and rehearsals) with hell of a crude soundings, well this is in that vein, besides the fact that was recorded live. Recommended for curious archeodeathrashers, write to me in case of having the other demos on real format too please. MORTUARY(Ser) - Infected by Pollution demo 1991. Four tracks of SEPULTURA(Bra) worship in a very 80s-early-90s Chilean way, here the inspirations come mainly from "Schizophrenia" album plus SLAYER(US) 's "Reign in Blood" . This includes "Psychotic Genocide" with ripping vox and sharp axes starting as if it were "Angel of Death", "Mortuary of Souls" which seems to be their hit, indeed a pretty killer track, "Infected by Pollution" reminded me of POSSESSED(US) too at "Beyond the gates" era, for instance "March to die", and "No sense... for romance", a title that took me to "No time for romance" on 70s DISCHARGE(UK) 's recordings he he, musically speaking, keeps the same vibe but instrumentally. This demo is great for knowing what was happening there during this period of time MORTUARY(Ser) - Dismembered Illusions demo 1991. Six more tracks in the very same vein with brighter sound, like a good rehearsal recording, but drums sound better on their previous demo, may be the production was better before. And now they are much more into the brazilian way, probably an step forward to their aim. I can link this recording, starting with their "Infected Pollution" track with the evil EXORCIST(Pol) , vocals are a little bit deeper than before but still deathrashy. This was recorded just four months after their first deadly intent. The omonimous "Dismembered Illusions" begins ala POSSESSED(US) again but with blasts then into tremolos ala SEPULTURA(Bra) , the classical brazilian-touching-the-black-skies-harmonics coming from Jairo's ways of axe-destruction are present here subtly, and I really like that. Their hit "Mortuary of souls" is found even darker here thanks to vox, I think I was wrong claiming this double-guitar arrangements are from SEPULTURA but come more from SLAYER(US) grounds, I can think of TERMINATOR(Cze) demo era and I believe KRABATHOR(Cze) demo era too. "Psychotic Genocide" re-recorded here too, also made me think this time on VIOLENT FORCE(Ger) , as you can see, they were discovering death metal realms within their thrash metal heads, that's what made deathrash so great! "No sense... for romance" again re-played here too. "Promises of merciless" kill this demo, with riffs ala POSSESED mixed with SEPULTURA which made me think in a couple of projects from these times, like SCHIZOPHRENIC DEATH(Ury) and DEATHLY SCYTHE(Chl) , mostly the second one on their mighty "Will of Death" demo era, and by transitivity specificly in vox, also the chilean influences from SADISM(Chl) , this track introduced a pretty melodic arrangement fukin the whole experience haha... luckily comes back to restore their agression. Anyway this is indeed a great demo. MORTUARY(Ser) - Void demo 1992, but was recorded in 91, five months after their second one, yes, seems these guys were pretty active during '91 ha! The progression towards Death Metal was expected, their main influence, as far as I can say, is NAPALM DEATH(UK) . On their first attack "Cause of Subsistence" you encounter those deep growls and dark passages from north-american DM from the 90s that were not present yet on them before, "Affected Sufferance" continues, and they introduced somehow those arrangements ala swedish DM with a mixture of what they did before, also swedish-mid-tempo drumming with crunching-thrash from brazil. Anyway, those sharp tremolos also made me think of some finnish DM, I am not sure, my memory could have played tricks on me, but I think of DEMIGOD(Fin) . "Storm" includes a riff from "Maze of Torment" by MORBID ANGEL(US) mixing the brazilian aspects too, falls into some swedish cuts again then SLAYER(US) ... "Void" finish this, I think this demo is just bands on a blender, quite a pitty they lost it here, and I ended up disliking what was done on the vocals direction. This has some good tracks and feeling but I don't recomend this demo. MORTUARY(Ser) - Unspoken demo 1994. Begins with "Corridors of banishment" , the starting solo with that notes come from AUTOPSY(US) with no doubt, "Mental funeral" era, the groove parts are not my favorites but for the sake of death, they put tremolos in the very vein of NAPALM DEATH(UK) , "Harmony Corruption" era. Vocals are better now, not that forced. "Massacrated Ego" has great solos expanding the almost-swedish DM vein around those groove parts. The guitar tune is just like the aforementioned ND album and screams too. "Mortgage upon Epitaph" seems to have some SLAYER(US) 's "Reign in Blood" influences, again, great solo work mixed with "Beneath the Remains" ideas. "Inwardly Voices" is like "Suffer the Children" from "Harmony Corrpution" album too, the same ideas on their track "Injected into Subconcious" and lastly, their "Outro". This demo is much better than the previous one, may be more mature and totally in the death metal grounds, but doesn't expose too much original ideas, they fell into the trend of the time as far as I can realise. All these MORTUARY demos were reissued by Grom Records and Darzamadicus Records on a CD, entitled "Final Mortuary of Souls". Ignore the last crap-track re-recorded in 2006, that kind of garbage should not be allowed to be released. As stated before, first two demos kill, the insert is short and simple but well done with no lyrics and few pictures, so you definitely should get this compilation to step over this hidden serbian realms. FACES OF DEGRADATION(Chl) - #1 (1992) , A chilean fanzine involved in the 90s scene. Mostly short interviews and tons of reviews, good source of information for checking pretty obscure monickers from back then but provided nothing too interesting for me, probably because that period of time is not my favorite, I think its well done, with great art and values from the editor. Thanks carlos (SHP) for trading this one with me.
"...again I am a stranger to me, on the excursion to eternity..." fuk off and live all you motherfukers. LYCANTROPHY(Fin) - Sickness Revealed 1989 demo. "Dismemberment of sanity" is a great starting point for this demo, impressive technical super skilled Thrash Metal act. Somehow, due to its Thrash Metal ways, reminded me of CRIONIC(Dnk) on their "The land which once were", quite a coincidence I was listening to that one too, but faster and the ripping vocals are quite similar to what you find in PROTECTED ILUSSION(Fin) and INVOKATOR(DNK) . "Buried in Swamp" is a little bit more deather, more tremolos coming from DEATH(US) but having some similarities to SACRED CRUCIFIX(Fin) in their track "Beyond the Cross", now I think I am being able to identify how their scene was in the late 80s. "Open the gate" is a little bit more melodic in its arrangements, solos,etc... little technical, all musicians are skilled as fuk , vocals are more ala SODOM(Ger) this time with some KREATOR(GER) phrases from "Dying Victims". "After my death" simple riffs joined with unstoppable fingers is what I feel, the atypical drums are also a highlight, as if they were coming from an HC background. "Sleepwalker" screams SLAYER(US) mixed with AUTOPSIA(Ger) , has a different sound, probably different recording session, again, their arrangements are crazy, vocalists approach changed too, more dark and horrid at first, then lunatic as if Martin from PESTILENCE(Hol) may be, the music still complex and dynamic. "Embrionic Cell" took me back to PROTECTED ILUSSION mixed with a Schaefer's vocals ( ATHEIST(US) ) , even bass. NOTE: Sadly the insert of this compilation did not mention these two tracks were from their "Sleepwalker" demo from 1990, that's why differ in terms of sound, awful to know one track was removed because it is included in the 89 demo, I fukin hate this, you end up with an incomplete demo... fuk. I recommend this band to anyone looking to improve their knowledge on finnish scene, is pretty impressive and top quality. MORPHOSIS(Fin) - Standard of living 1989 demo. "Drinking & Fucking" intro depicts what you'll get here, drunkass Thrash Metal. "Fun/We Want..." is the first real track, evolves from the not so serious approach into a kind of KREATOR(Ger) 's . This is definitly not my kind of beer, won't add any more comments, probably for TANKARD(GER) fans. NATIONAL NAPALM SYNDICATE(Fin) - Painful ten Hours demo 1987. "After the fall of NW" killer thrash metal riff influenced by EXODUS(US) and METALLICA(US) with hell of an obscure voice, which seems also influenced by SODOM(Ger) , quite a killer mixture that ends up being quite japanese. "Life is Pain" follows the same line but vocalist made me think of "Malicious Death" by SLOD(Yug) ha! "Werewolf, the Obsession" is this demo last track, which is a little bit more elaborated due tue arrangements on guitars and the voice is ala Sakevi ( GISM (Jpn) ) mixed with Paulo from AGRESSOR(Bra) . Quite a killer demo and pretty unique. Crazy this vocalist was in the Lycantrophy '89 demo reviewed above! This is a really good project I probably dig more into it in the future. Highly recommended!! MENGELE(Fin) - Abominable Thoughts demo 1989, aka. WENGELE. These guys are total thrashers in the vein of ARMOROS(CAN) , MORBID SAINT(US) and the ATHEIST(US) kind of sound and intrincated riffs, in terms of sound I think they sound canadian. "Few lines and tones about Dr. Mengele and his railway selections" is the first track, good vocal effects, followed by "Al little poem describing what people do when they don't like each other" , yes, pretty extensive song names ah? HAHA... good riffs, structures, but it does not amuse me honestly. "Morbid dislike of foreigners" has a little bit more deathrash tremolos and fukin great solos, at times made me think of SOOTHSAYER(CAN) , and "A story about a man who was put in jail for 20 years" is the closing one, also reminded me the last canadian band I just mentioned, pretty good tracks to finish the demo, another good one to dig more into it later. Recommended. All these demos from Finland were released altogether in the Thrashing Relics Volume 1 compilation by Bestial Burst Records, recommended for those willing to expand their knowledge, the compilation is not too cheap for the simple black&white printing and design it has, it lacks of more information, biographies and complete inserts, plus name of demos in the back image including years, all that would have elevated this CD, but anyway, worth it due to its content. Highly recommended, luckily this kills some of the items from my wishlist. NATIONAL NAPALM SYNDICATE(Fin) - National Napalm Syndicate 1989 , vinyl rip. I could not avoid the temptation yes. "911" starts this LP and honestly I was not thinking about listening to a RANDAGI(Ita) , RAW POWER(Ita) , FEARLESS IRANIANS FROM HELL(US) , little CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER(US) , AGRESSOR(Bra) , little DISCHARGE(UK) from the late 70's , probably some SEX PISTOLS(UK) and lots of groove and shit from the crossover sphere. I cannot believe the so clean production, impressive solos and present bass lines. "Ante morte" has the riff from one of their tracks released on their first demo if I am not mistaken, honestly I don't like their style here too much so I did not even bother rechecking that fact. "Deathwish" keeps on the same page so I am tempted to completely ignore this release, I was not expecting what was achieved in this recording, in fact this made me think of the SOOTHSAYER(Can) pathways, what a waste... not recommended, or yes, for those into crossover. Триумфальная Арка (Rus) - Мир-Дьявол - Юбилейное Издание 1989, Aka. Triumphant Arch, WAV files. Well, I had no idea about this project, is a plain Thrash Metal act comming from Russia. Even though the music is well executed, all seems too dull, I don't feel the axebraincutting-sharpasfuk guitars typical from Russia, sometimes it even feels quite progressive and not totally devoted to the Thrash Metal ways but to the more-polished-skilled approach that is too non-aggressive for me, and vocals are not too good either. Sadly, is the first time I am telling this, but don't get it, has nothing to do with the russian bands I have already reviewed here, may be some similarities with KGB(Rus) but not that good and traces of OZ(Fin) in their track "Абаддон" as if it were "Stop Believing". Фронт(Rus) - Металлизация 1987, Aka. FRONT,dubbed tape. This Thrash Metal act is known to me because there's a double CD by Metalism Records who included the 1991 demo from KRUGER(Rus) , the main reason of my purchase years ago. Something that was cleared to me is this, FRONT is not the name used later by KRUGER nor the otherway round, if I said this to any of you outthere, I misleaded you, sorry! I don't remember where did I get that idea from, probably metal-archives or just my awful reading capabilities... anyway isn't it easier to blame others? HA?! my mistake. So, back to the point, FRONT was a Heavy Metal/Thrash Metal band initially known as ЭДС(Rus) , after lineup changes they turned into Фронт, then Фронт suffered from lineup changes too, Фронт musicians offered a plethora metal projects in their country, the best in my opinion are, the already mentioned KRUGER and Штормовое Предупреждение(Rus) who was later known as Крематор(Rus) , this last who delivered one of the most obscure recordings ever in the Russian territory. Specifically speaking about this very release, which was totally unkown to me due to my unordered thoughts regarding the band, this starts particularly as a dirty Heavy Metal band, but from their second track and on, they deliver an intense Thrash Metal in the vein of Коррозия Металла(Rus) with less speed and more dense parts, mostly due to the vocalist and some riffs, Фаланга(Rus) connections can be found too, the other KRÜGER(Rus) from Moscow is also connected, last track has a killer intro similar to what this other project did on their first LP. This release is really good and now I can perceive how this project along with Фаланга and Коррозия Металла set the grounds for the next russian thrashers like KRÜGER and even Аспид , I could even find riffs from the 90s locals STRATUS(Ury) HA! My initial mistake asuming this band was post-KRUGER and thinking "Mortal Surgery" album was part of their progress totally opaqued my perception on them, in fact, I realised I have never listened to "Der Wasser der Köln" album , which is their second release... I will have to dig more into this after spending decent time listening to this very release. Den, once again thanks so much for your guideness on these matters!! Highly recommended for russianthrasharcheodeathers! what a definition HA!? Холостой Выстрел(Rus) - Вампир Demo 1991, dubbed tape. Aka. BLANK SHOT. This starts with an excellent Thrash Metal approach, the riff comes from AFFLICTED CONVULSION(Swe) , if you add that mad/comic vocals you would end up with a clone ha! That's "Кошмарный сон" . This band is known for their LP more than for this demo, here you can see the Heavy Metal influences but Thrash Metal predominates of course. "Вампир" is their excellent track, VAMPYR!!! which ressembles to CRAZER(RUS) on their chorus, yes the good old Russian Thrash Metal! this time it even melts with "Kill Again" riffs from SLAYER(US) after the solos, if you check the artwork of this demo, which is a band's photo, it's all said. "Дай!" follows with something ala CRAZER too again, probably the "UHH!" and also adding some russian form of rythms that end up being as if it were a joke or something, with drunk "la lala la lala" , typical from russian bands like Клиника(Rus) or Коррозия Металла(Rus) , in fact somehow this reminded me of 1988 demo from ANGKOR VAT(Ury) on their track "Estoy muriendo" , may be the almost happy METALLICA(US) riffing with punk vibe. side B jumps with "Страшный суд" ala MASSACRE(US) at first, some Thrash Metal cuts and the voice is what does not let them get more into the Death metal field, but that's not a problem at all, in fact SLAYER is present once more in terms of compositions. "Смех убийцы" has a couple of ideas that I cannot remember where the fuk did I listen to them... I think has some ideas from Speed Metal projects like RAZOR(Can) and VIOLENT FORCE(Ger) but I could listen to some CARAS DE HAMBRE(Pan) on their track "Anarquía para todos" , few ANGKOR VAT also present here at the end and even Крюгер(Rus, St. Petersburg) . "Вырезай!" is the ultimate incantation, little Крюгер once again mixed, with may be EXODUS(US) finishing with METALLICA-ish ways, I just realised that SS(Ven) cannot be left out, guitar sound is pretty similar. I thougth I had already written about them, but seems I did not, so it was my chance to spare some words on another killer project from there, highly recommended! Anyone curious, this was Deluxe-reissued by Metalrace Records on digibook double-CD including their album. Thanks den once again for helping me out that much and sharing it even before being released! INSANITY(US) - 1985 demo , independent, dubbed tape. Is hard for me to write about such a classic, because it's too well known and demands even more attention. This act is one of the best, ahead of their time, skilled as fuk and totally Death Metal. Joe Zuñiga, who died before even their almighty "Death after Death" album, at least left this spectacular demo showing off what their insanity was all about, the two classic tracks like "Fire death fate" and "Blood for blood" are present here, even faster than on their album, and "Ultimate Death" is the one here that is not that well-known... you can even find similarities to POISON(Ger) 's "Slaves of the Crucifix" . Despite being three tracks only, this is killer. Hugely recommended, if by any chance you still know nothing about them, keep in mind you will find a mixture of ARCHENEMY(US) , HELLWITCH(US) demo era , DECEASED(US) demo era and some MORBID ANGEL(US) mike browning era ; in the end classic northamerican death metal on its best form! For those looking for their stuff, remember Dark Symphonies Records released a double CD with early recordings and their first album which is total classic cult too. Консул(Rus) - Ночные всадники 1987-1989 , Aka. Consul, WAVs. This is a Heavy Metal project pretty original, reminds of ACIDO(Ury) , SS(Ven) from their 85 recordings, ATLAIN(Ger) , TRAITORS GATE(UK) not only in music but also the vocal tune, etc, all the mid-80s heavy metal classics inspired by DEEP PURPLE(UK) , LED ZEPPELIN(UK) and IRON MAIDEN(UK) with little BLACK SABBATH(UK) and SAXON(UK) on their most Speed Metal tracks, I would mention Маркиза(Rus) on their most Rock/Heavy metal tracks and Круиз(Rus) from Круиз-1 era and you can even feel something ala RETROSATAN(Arg) on vocals and MOTLEY CRUE(US) , THE RODS(UK) is fully present on their first LP era too, "Nothing's going on in the City" is present on the pre-last track of this demo. This compilation begins with their 1987 demo entitled "Проклятый мир" and gets followed by their 1989 demo "Береги нервы" . This gets more sharp, aggressive on its way , with a decent JUDAS PRIEST(UK) quota also leading to RIFF(Arg) on "Ruedas de Metal" and POKOLGEP(Hun) but the MOTLEY CRUE vibe is still present, I am not mentioning this as something negative, think of "Look that kills" track or "Too fast for love", this demo also has double-kick drums with VOIVOD(Can) -ish riffs from time to time and AVENGER(Ger) style , I believe the german style is powerful here, on top of what they had already practiotioned on their previous demo, I would mention HELLOWEEN(Ger) on their tracks recorded for the "Death Metal" 1984 compilation. I am not dying for this but it was hell of a surprise, definitely this 89 demo is super in comparisson with the previous one. Thanks den , yes, again and again! DERANGED(Can) - Place of Torment 1989, RE 2021 by Supreme Echo. Excellently done reissue, includes a fanzine-like interview with pictures and flyers. This band is a mixture of SLAYER(US) , in their "Hell Awaits" era, DARK ANGEL(US) plus the deathrash parts coming from bands like SADUS(US) , MORBID SAINT(US) and SADISTIC INTENT(US) , think of "Existence", with little NECROPHAGIA(US) , for instance, in their track "Coercion" . The tracks are "Eminence of Terror", "Before your Eyes", "Coercion" and "The Burning" all equally good. This is the first time I read a project hailing the works of MACABRE(US) and even playing "Serial Killer" live, as stated in the interview. Excellent thrash metal, recommended! Thanks mediocridad for the enlightning! LEATHER MISTRESS(Ger) - Talk Dirty 1984 demo, RE on tape by Headbangers Records, Big Gad Wolf and Inverted Inhumation Records. Got to know this thanks to cowboy's newest fanzine issue (read bellow) , and trade it with him (thanks pal!) , I was expecting for a German Heavy Metal band with female vocalist, but I was totally confused, probably mis-read it, but this has no female vocalist, leather mistress was a dancer who was part of their live appearances ha! in my opinion there's nothing to highlight on this project, three tracks of Glam-ish Heavy Metal. For those into that kind of music, could be a good catch, could think of JUDAS PRIEST(UK) with some MOTELY CRUE(US) , it's well done in a bloodyred serigraphied pro-tape including pictures and a german-written short description. 13 (Rus) - Demo 1988 , dubbed tape, it was indenpendently released by the band on CDR this year (2024) . With only three tracks of Heavy Metal/Thrash Metal music, they provided a kind of Russian ACIDO(Ury) , the first riff even ressembles to ACID(Bel) , so this obviously shocked me! This seems to be a total hidden gem not yet officially released by any label on any format, who knows why... may be because having only three tracks, those are "Tikek" , "Tavo meile sau" and "Mes dievai", but at least this should be dubbed on tapes! If I had to mention another project to link them, it would be Фронт(Rus) and Тяжёлый День(Rus) and some little III KATEGORIJA(Slo) due to the MOTORHEAD(UK) influences, I would remark the good solos, drumming and the impressive vocals. Killer surprise den! highly appreciated!! WARHATE(Bra) - Thrashing Invasion demo 1988, RE 2020 by Dark Archives Records on CD. This is the typical brazilian Deathrash band you are going to be pleased listening to it. It was around 10-15 years ago when I got their name while looking for bands from 1988 and this was on my list, rediscovered in a shangrilanianbeerattack night with joakil when listening to another of the reissues of this very label ( SAURON(Swe) tape ) , that's why I ended up finally getting it, who would think this was going to be discovered by someone else somwhere in time for it to be reissued. This is a mixture of SLAYER(US) and "Plunching to megadeath" by HALLOWS EVE(US) and the SODOM(Ger) spectre with their own almost HC touch that could related them to EXPLICIT HATE(Bra) and vocal from time to time remind to Angel from the mighty VULCANO(Bra) . This demo is highly recommended for anyone in the depths of braziliomanicdeathrashuttertombs! EXPULSED ANGEL(Ger) - HORDA(Chl) - Split Rehellsal 2021 . This is a kick in your guts rising a beerpunch in the air to the underground ways. EXPULSED ANGEL's side is blackened death metal in primitive ways, but not that much, they are skilled! excellent recording session, how this germans do not make mistakes!? fuk! excellent recording for those into their demo! HORDA's side is violent, in the very same vein of HELL AVENGER(Chl) , and also wicked, fuk I did not know that, the vomiting vocals are just like those from rodrigo, with fierce drumming and noisy guitars. I have to be honest, this is the first time I pay attention to this project, totally chaotic and well done, quite experimental, as this is a rehearsal, including BLOOD RITES(Chl) cover, I presume chure is on guitars, who's on bass???! alex!? amazing , the clean vociferations are not my kind of beer but all is perfectly embraced, it's impressive, and this is only a rehearsal! This represents more than the session itself, hail for those bastards sharing madness out there altogether! Thanks phil, despite getting it into my hands the very same day of your comeback to the southern lands after 5 years HA! Mario fuk off! was it my fault!? probably! fuk javier, your double kickdrum is hell of a thunder! Greetings to the bastards of the underground pits from a humble, yet ignorant fuko, here in the lands of the unmetal wastelands. Those not close to EXPULSED ANGEL, they are into pre "Into the abyss" POISON(Ger) 's era (even before "Awakening of the dead" ) and HORDA sounds more greek at times with mixtures coming from the Czech scene; be aware, I am not too into the black metal vibes but I'm trying to do my best for a proper description. A meaningful release in this modern era. By the way, don't you hate the FUJI slim jewel cases! HA!! fuk of your jewish GOD! (tape-dealer) . Smelly psychoFegan fart for you Steppe! dont be jelous phil, it can be shared! INFERNAL CURSE(Arg) - Revelations beyond Insanity 2023. Zzooouuhh Records CD and Sodomistic Rituals on protape. The last blackened death metal intent from these darknessvomiters. I have to admit this time this is focused much more into the classical, somehow, Deathrash veins, due to few tremolos plus tupatupa, besides having the black metal aura. Ressebles much more to what they have practiioned before, like traces of their first album, vocals effects seems much more subtle and not invasive, so feels more real and less mumbled. I have to admit solos are great accompanied by impressive solid bass action and effective drummings. Nowadays these famous goats do not need introduction, so do not hessiate getting stuff from them. VAR(Cze) - No Place to Hide - Není se kam skrýt demo 1990, WAVs. Wrote down this name when at Leo's place ( EJECUTOR (Chl) ) ; who happened to had at hand the Ultra Metal Compilation tape right there at the front in his collection and encouraged me to check this project. Now thanks to my friend mediocridad, I am able to have a better intake on this. If you already know SAX(Cze) you will recognize the same ideas, even in vocals, but at a less professional level and slower, and yes, still being a demo recorded on a rehearsal room, this sounds great. I still prefer SAX but this is a good too if you are willing to expand your knowledge on those projects from the 90s like the wrong-doings of DEBUSTROL(Cze) and TERMINATOR(Cze) during that period of time mixed with Pavel's (SAX) vox. Not my prefered Thrash Metal but you get the idea. VAR(Cze) - Brutální chaos - Brutal Chaos 1991, WAVs. This is of course the progression of the band, sounds much cleaner with excellent solos. Anyway, these demos do not stick on my brain, at least not yet, may be in some years, funny the "Hit the light" czech-ed version! For now what I can say is, Thrash Metal from Czech Republic for any curious thrasher out there. REALM OF SHADES(Ger) - #10 . Fanzine coming from germany, in english, done by my friend cowboy. I think this is the first issue I read of this fanzine, and the way it's done is great. The questions are well done, showing the real interest behind the interviewer. Here you will find a good in-depth interview with MARTHE(Ita), which I dont share its tastes in music but some other italian monickers appear here and there to write down for further analysis he he. As one can see on the front artwork, a picture of LAS BRUJAS(ARG) was chosen, and a biography written by Graciela, the vocalist/guitar player, was included, pretty good information. Another interview with the EXPULSED ANGEL(Ger) bastards, hard not to read extensive ints from them he he, great one, Prost meine scheißeKöpferen Freunde! Some good reviews, I like the way those are written, also fanzine reviews, which are not that common nowadays, even including every fukin contact, that was excellent. A good interview with SHITANGEL(US) , which I don't know them, I will have to dig ; A great int with ULVEZ(Ita) cheers dani! An excellent DEATH INVOKER(Per) int, from the south I salute you Juan! Totally recommended! Congrats on this newest issue cowboy!! BESTIAL DESECRATION(Ger) - #8 , a german fanzine written in english done by johann sebastian bach from Destruktion Records, who is also behind MORBID FAITH newsletter. This has in depth interviews with complex questions and quite lengthy ones. Overall you perceive the intense, sometimes abusive, exposed hatred, towards every topic in general terms, in my opinion too much, but at the same time I understand the vision, its aim. This is the first issue I fully read and due to that matter, becomes quite tiring, so it's not an easy/fast pace reading, you have to take your time, I think I can compare this with technical metal at some points, like a good album difficult to easily digest ha! Here you'll find NUCLEAR REVENGE(Spa) good int, spectacular INFAUSTES(Par) interview, outsanding HELLFIRE(Chn) int, good OLD(Ger) int , another good one from DETHRONER(Ita) among others I cannot recall right now plus reviews fanzines/releases. Thanks pal for sharing this one with me and for taking time to explain few things to me, totally appreciated, great work and recommended for those looking for obscure project from nowadays, total respect on this dedicated support to active projects!!
"I was watching me, vaguely questioning my (in)sanity, you know, checking if the foot is still on the ground. In a blink of an eye, my left ear got shocked with that high-pitched buzzing noise out of nowhere, preasure on the brain is it called? my vision went darkened with those rainy braincells in the surface of my eyes, as if it was finally my time to leave this living grave. While recovering from this was not insant, I was thinking, where are all those great moments of my lethargic life appearing here and there like in the movies? Fell on the floor, hit my head, blood all over, I woke up when inhaling my vapouring red liquid, right bellow the sun rays. The smell differed from blood, fukk I shit myself I told me, cannot be... I was not drunk as far as I could remember, cannot be vomit, but may be I puked myself... still on the floor, I recollected the far-gathered solar energy from my body, as if I were a plant in photosynthesis process. Now on my feet... oh... I see, this is happening again... no recollections will appear as final living pictures... I was never born." by schizophedeath - entitled: Deceived. Once again in this trash hole... time will tell who are the ones really carved in hate, it choses you, cannot be faked; like it has always been, I will watch you all disappear, once again. The extension of my ears in my own regurgitated words: WITCHNIGHT(Arg) - Old Steel Breath 2022 CD, by Witches Brew. Within the very same style they practitioned before, their provided their simple but effective Black Thrash Metal. "Southern Warriors" is quite slow and incomplete at times, too little music while slow chords, as if the bass line is unable to fill the whole atmosphere and the vocals are little bit dull with good solo work, luckily the "Old Steel Breath" track has much more feeling put onto it, even the solo is fantastic, doubled vocals on few parts are excellent. "Revenge of the Vampire" is killer too, the vocal is more agressive which is healthy for the track, accompanied by some double-kick drum arrangements elevates the experience along with some keyboards that appeared totally unexpected, another excellent solo work. "Phantoms of the Crypt" follows, nothing to highlight, its solo is good though. "Tyranical Warlock" is a pretty killer track, coming from their reissue on CD "Unholy Speed Metal" , here is better. "Into the old Black Mountain" it's on the average with well done solos, cuts for an excellent classical guitar intro, quite witchy let's say, followed by winds of AURA NOIR(Nor) 's "Black Thrash Attack" then gets slower and fades out, weird. "Caligula" is pretty good too. "La mano Maldita" V8(Arg) cover was included here. It's great to see this band finally released their first album, somehow I feel it lacks of some aggression and power, may be I prefered them with more dirty sound or the clean production didn't help, I am not sure. Anyway this is a good release from a good band that keeps fighting in the underground. These tracks are into BATHORY(Swe), HELLHAMMER(Swi), RUNNING WILD(Ger), VENOM(UK), SODOM(Ger) and some other influences, so be ready to rock on! MORTAL SCEPTER(Fra) - Split w/ DETHRONED(Fra) LP by Dying Victims. I bought this ignoring the fact this was an Split. I had no clue this LP existed, when first saw it, in fact I thought this was their newest album; MORTAL SCEPTER ended up being one of those band you insantly buy whatever you see they release because they do excellent obscure Thrash Metal with energy and guts. This is their 2nd vinyl release, in the middle of their EP "As time sharpens sentence" and their LP "Where light suffocates" . I found this quite inmature despite being post-EP , not musically speaking but in terms of recording sessions. The side A includes "Punitive Expedition" which is well recorded and pretty nice track, not as killer as others but not bad, then "Perish with the Flesh" is here, which was also part of their LP, but sadly here it sounds as a rehearsal with different masterization from what you hear in the previous track, then closes "Left to Die" from DEATH(US) with excellent performance but again, the masterization differs from the previous tracks... so each track sounds completely different one from another... that quite sucks and I don't see the point on it. That really ruins the experience, I prefer a demo-sound totally uniform than this collection of three tracks mixed absolutely different... don't buy this vinyl, I don't know why the label wanted to release this that way, neither why the band opted for such an amateurish work being absolutely skilled and demonstrated in both of their other releases. Side B is for DETHRONED, another fast Thrash Metal. The strongly sharp screams reminded me of DEATHHAMMER(Nor) but I felt those quite overused on the chorus in "Night of the Sinner" , anyway they are skilled as fuk and the music has great energy, but is not too remarkable either... "Speed takeover" is a little bit better, then closes with a VIOLENT FORCE(Ger) cover "Sign of Evil" , it's okey but this project is not remarkable in my opinion, not fresh. MORTAL SCEPTER(Fra) - Demo 2014, dubbed tape. Four track-demo showing off what they were capable of. In retrospective you can see that their creativity on riffs was their highlight. Here is a much more mid-tempo approach not being that fast. "Satan's Arrival" opens this instrumentally. "Violent Revenge" , which appears later on their next EP reminded me of RADIATION(Svk) on their seven inches "Plutonium Overdose" . "Excecution Symphony" was also re-recorded later and in my opinion, this demo provides nothing more than an door for their future releases, which are much much much better, "expect no FUKINNN MERCY!!" . "Nuclear Armageddon" is quite the weird one here because has a different approach on melodies I guess, quite good but not remarkable, drum work is really good mostly while finishing, is it too METALLICA(US) -ish may be? So for those curious to check their beginnings, this is great, for those unknowing this project, well, take this before anything else for proper chronological joy. One of the best projects in the nowadays french lands. BLACK BEAST(Chl) - Endless Night on a dead Earth 2023 , by Trauma Records. Another great release from this label on digipack with pretty good design. This release is no more than 10 tracks of Death Metal in the very vein of the north american vein, think of SADISTIC INTENT(US) , POSSESSED(US) , some DEATH(US) and AUTOPSY(US) with some darkness coming from MORTEM(Per) and its intro ala "Bestial Devastation" . I always found funny the vocalist's way of self-repeating phrases, but ends up being quite effective to remember the tracks rapidly! The tracks are: "Invaders must die" great song followed by "The night is mine" with good screams, "Don't play with fire" PLAY WITH FIRE!! is pretty killer with lots of changes and arrangements, I found their ideas solid and dynamic here. Then "Metal, Magic, Freedom" , "Lex Talionis" which I remember was in their demo #2 tape, "Sign the contratct with eternal darkness" , "Nocturnal force" , "Fuck this world" with its starting note, just for an instant took me to MESSIAH(Swi) on "Total Maniac" , this is also coming from demo #2 and is a great track. The omonimous track was left for the final doom and its good but found it quite similar to "Metal, Magic, Freedom" on its chorus, anyway it's fukin good. I am not sure if it's their guitar distortion or the whole production, but I could not avoid thinking of HELLAVENGER(Chl) . This is highly recommended! Thanks pablo nekroperverter for this one! PROTECTED ILLUSTION(Fin) - Watching the Wake 2008 by Marquee Records. Finally I got this. I won't spare words on the album because I already reviewed it here. I won't spare words on the 1991 EP because is total modern crap (yes even for that time) . I am focusing on their "Opulence and Preservation Poverty and Desperation" demo from 1989, which has 8 tracks, for a demo is pretty lengthy, where you will find a couple of tracks later re-recorded for the album, "Greetings from Hell" and "Decadence" . On this demo you can appreciate a more simpler approach than what you are used to if you already checked their forthcoming releases, probably due to its production and the fast but not-hyper-fast drumming here, they were about to switch the drummer here on. The similarities among the bands I already mentioned before are also found here, but I would add ARMOROS(Can) which also happened to be re-released on a compilation but the very same label, now know why he he , and KREATOR(GER) which I think I had not mentioned before, precisely in "Irrevocable Decision" track. "Rap scappy Jou!" is just a joke track, made me think of "Pippi Lungstrumpf" or however that it's properly written, from AUTOPSIA(Ger) ha! Anyway, pretty killer demo with great sound. Secondly I am focusing on their EP "Swimming in the Moonlight" also from 1989 , now you get your furious deal with deathrashing insanity in the very vein of, as I stated before, SADUS(US) , INVOKATOR(Dnk) , ATHEIST(US) and also MERCILESS(Swe) , this is a fukin classic pre-their debut. Once again, I recommend you to dig into this super-fast-skilled-as-fuk-finnish thrashers. MORBORUS(Ury) - Metal on Metal Single 2024, yet unreleased but can be found on their bandcamp. This uruguayan speed metal commando recorded a top-quality single with a couple of tracks, the omonoimous plus "Hellish Night" . Both are amazingly creative, quite original and smart, in the very same vein they were before, despite some ugly sounds on drumming, and quite digital production, the whole is effective as fuk, the works on guitars and vocals are terrificly well done. This is a great kick in the face for a good back-into-activities since the project was one-man shit but now is a fully functional band, as it must be. The future for this project is bright. For those unknowing this, the brains behind it are the same from HEFESTO(Ury) but this seems to be an improved version of it, darker and more fierce. Hopefully they will be recording more stuff soon with their newest lineup. Total killer speed metal, CRUEL FORCE(Ger) is quite a good reference. Highly recommended! You can find their bandcamp link on their logo on the left side of this site. Greetings & beers fukulo! SACRED CRUCIFIX(Swe) - Demo 1987, bootleg tape. Starting with the great track "Brain Death" with midtempo and chaotic vocals you get the piece of unswedish deathrash metal with some slow cuts with some kind of blackened chords. "Beyond the Cross" also kills, with great double kicks on drums and excellent chorus. Closing with "Blessed Pilgrim" not bad, a couple of interesting tremolo riffs but not too remarkable honestly, but first two tracks are spectacular! SACRED CRUCIFIX(Swe) - Realms of Darkness 1989 demo, bootleg tape. Starting with a "The Fear", an intro in the very vein of "Recrucify" then you get "Requiem" track with a blackened DEATH(US) version ala "Infernal Death", the black vibe comes mainly from the vocalist and the approaches on slow parts including ambient keyboards. "Brain Death" is excellent and comes from their 1987 demo along with "Beyond the Cross", here you appreciate mostly the maturity on their sound, which of course was improved. Last track is the omonimous "Realm of Darkness", an excellent way to kill this release with its decadent and doomish parts. Another of those not-so-swedish recordings that deserves to shine. This was reissued by Ripping Storm Records on 3 CD volumes and also on LP, this is a really great opportunity for you to get this magnific demo! SACRED CRUCIFIX(Swe) - Demo 1990, bootleg tape. "Vlad the Stalker" track opens, deep in their style I may say, they developed a more solid blackened death thrash with their not that fast tempos but with arrangements and drums that flow accordingly. "Chosen one" appears with a boring and awful almmost-clean arpegio-guitar somehow melancholic to melt into the aforementioned state of mind, "13" keeps the mood, at some points reminded me of MORGOTH(Ger) on their "Cursed" album, "Deep in Unknown" and "Wise" are okey in that vein too, this last is like a recycled version of "Beyond the cross". This demo does not stand out more than their previous ones at all, but is a good demo. CURSE(Swe) - Ad Futuram Rei Memoriam demo 1989. By To the Death Records on 10''. As soon as you listen to the production, ideas and the vocals tune you won't be able not to link them to MEFISTO(Swe) , MORBID(Swe) and TREBLINKA(Swe) . "Morbid Death" is great, the first twisted riff took me to Сукина Дочь (Rus) , I knew I had listened to that somewhere before even knowing these russians but I could not recall it back then. Afterwards you get "Inner Memoir" then "Forbidden Prophecy" with a cut with keyboards, not as complex as the ones found on NOCTURNUS(US) but gets that environment. "Reign of regret" closes the short but effective demo. CURSE(Swe) - Integumentum de Tenebrae demo 1989. By To the Death Records on 10'' too. This demo is on the very same year and vein. "Beyond..." opens and has some ambient keyboards, pretty doomish, some obscure arrangements take them more into the Black Metal sphere but not totally, it's a little twist you can find on this whole demo. "Infernal Fate" seems to follow it with almost greek rythms, pretty weird voices where used here as details. "Subconscious Thought" probably the best track on this demo, faster with impressive starting riff with harmonics that kill, great changes can be found on it, as far as I can remember, this even reminds me to AFFLICTED CONVULSION(Swe) . "Theme Underground" is their last track, luckily in the same line, more strange screams who made me think of GOMORRAH(Ger) demos a little bit. All these was embraced by an intro and an outro. As you can realise, this is not better than their previous demo but not bad at all, for those who need to dig deeper in the un-swedish sound coming from Sweden, this will absolutely rip your guts. Thanks so much Rizal for your recommendation, we are indeed in the same tune regarding these sounds ha! MASTER FURY(US) - Hell Party 1988, classic US Thrash Metal in the vein of demons like DAMNAKLEEZ(US), BLOOD FEAST(US) , AT WAR(US) with a little twist that resembles to ANNIHILATOR(CAN) , I cannot avoid thinking of "Human Insecticide" track on some vibes, and checking those connections, Paul Baloff -ish kind of vocals are expected, after "hell party" intro you get "Crash" where you can hear what I wrote. This is an 8-tracks album that totally kills, short effective and skull crushing , in the background I can feel some punk attitude that I would say street thrash metal in the essence of DEATH STRIKE(US) , HELLBASTARD(UK) , perceivable on "Are all men blind" and "Time is Right" . "Flat against the wall" took me even to GROUND ZERO (Jpn) 's "Driven to the wall" , yes, I know it's different, may be the chorus pressed the tumors! and yes EXODUS(US) is also present. "Road Hog" is really speed with vocals quite Rock n Roll on the chorus, I think of ZOETROPE(US) here "Amnesty" LP era and RAVEN(UK) on "Rock until you Drop" era. "Riots in the Street" has something ala FEAR IRANIANS FROM HELL(US) on its chorus, those notes quite Surf Rock/Blues in the vein of DUANE EDDY(US) , impressive! Excellent release to thrash the unthrashable, thrash to kill! MASTER FURY(US) - Circle of Hate 1989, even though they kept being raw in their sound, music. They developed a little softer side that made me think of HEATHEN(US) , of course not that polished, but seems they were trying to achieve something a little bit different. In fact Don Rouze (bass) switched places for vox in this release with Luigi Frascella (guitar) . This is a more plain Thrash Metal that I would not remark as much as their first MLP , I found the omoniumous track is pretty killer . These couple of releases are to be found on a reissue by Contaminated Tones Productions in 2013 (I had no clue about it) , so if you see it around you know what you must! Thank mediocridad for sharing these ones! BLOOD ANGEL(Sgp) - In evil we trust demo 1992, shitty mp3. This band was introduced to me by my friend Victor SOS , and I instantly thought "fukkk... Metal Attack from Bolivia's main influece is this!!!" , despite the differences I clearly think of them on "Raw to the Core" track, if you don't believe me you are deaf! This demo is 6 tracks of pure fast deathrashcore/black metal bomb with few melodies here and there. The connection with ABHORRER(Sgp) is subtle, mainly in sound terms and few ideas. "The unholy god" is a fukin black hate vomit , "Death to posers" is restless anger and will take you to INSULTER(Bra) , "Raw to the Core" beginning sounds as if it were a track from SLOD(Yug) mutating into what I said regarding METAL ATTACK(Bol) , when I reviewed the bolivian insanebastards I mentioned "Deathcrush" MLP, so here, due to transitivity, I can appreciate the same vibe up to a certain extend. "C.O.V." comes with some loose notes quite HM-ish making it sound melodic but not awfully, until it falls into superfast brazilian aggression, which is kept during the next track "In evil we trust" , here I also feel some ressembles to CURRICULUM MORTIS(Per) mainly the sound recording used in the peruvian hardcore compilation named "Atropello" (probably the same in "Sentencia de Muerte" and due to the dubbing it has something little bit different and more noisy). "Regret" is the last track on this demo following the same tune, yeah, and vox took me to DEATH YELL(Chl) . Tracks are not too lenghty nor too short, and screamings are impressively sung as this was a Hardcore band, this exposes hate, real hate. I really liked this demo and now I know why it was shown to me. Recommended for archeodeathrashers! some trader out there with this one!? please send me an email! MALHAVOC(Can) - Age of the dark reinassence demo 1986, dubbed tape. Never heard of them before. The progression of this band is totally weird, the stuff released after this demo is awful and going more and more into the industrial ways of music, puaj!!! Well, to the point now, "Age of the dark reinassence" begins with a greatly obscure and horror-like environment, passing through a BLACK SABBATH(UK) -ish riffing to fall in some other dark notes, culminating this good intro, putting you in the mood. "Urbain Grandier" shows the more thrasher aspects of this, as if it were a SODOM(Ger) 's "Proselytism Real" tune melting into MESSIAH(Swi) with vocals really weird, noisy I must say ala NECROPHAGIA(US) even on the used samples and later riffs, the whole production is impressive, does not sound like demo but like an album. "Night Cry" again shows that face of horror with its guitar sounds, these are really well done but honestly I prefer music much more than these sounds, so boring... here you understand why their forthcoming steps were the ones taken... "Meridiana" closes the A side on this, again I repeat myself, this sounds like "Anarchus" from MESSIAH mixed with Killjoy's vox , quite a solid mixture, I never thought something like these two ways of doing music could ever be put together in a band. Side B opens with "Arythmia", more noise damn it... then "Attack of the sepulcher" at last some drums and thrash riffs fuk! Now I hear MEFISTO(Swe) -like stuff with drums just like Peso from NECRODEATH(Ita) then on solos you get the piece of CELTIC FROST(Swi) that I knew I would hear on a project like this, and due to the rest of the mentioned bands I would say is more like DESEXULT(Dnk) . "The Storm" is more, I bet you can guess now, yes... noise... "Fey" has a great beginning ala "Matter Tenebrarum" mixed with more MESSIAH, great track . Finally "Dunwich Horror" to expose their ambient aesthethics, fully DESEXULT NECROPHAGIA inspired. This demo would be excellent if it weren't for the amount of boring and lengthy noises used between the real tracks, what a pity. This is hugely recommended for hystorical purposes, since it's from Canada, from the golden years with hell of potential (thrown to the trash later). Anyway, if I were you, If you don't know the projects I mentioned on this review, I highly recommend you to listen to those first, because those were around years before this release and, in my opinion, much better. Thanks Victor SOS once again for the recommendation, it's quite hidden and particularl project! APOSTASY(Chl) - Fraud in the name of god demo 1989, dubbed one. Never enjoyed this project but this demo kills. "The night" jumps in with a swedish-inspired guitar distortion that screams NIHILIST(Swe) but then your brains are smashed with vocals rippingly clean followed with great dark screams in chorus and SEPULTURA(Bra) / KREATOR(Ger) -ish tremolos, sometimes vocals even ressembles to Leonardo Loriente from the local ambassadors of deathrash, ANGKOR VAT(Ury) . "Intro" a classical arpeggio guitar, then "Deceased in the Funeral" which made me think, somehow, in "Holy Diver" due to some first riffs, then changes into a demented doomish death soon to explode into thrash, am I too wrong if I mention LEGACY(US) as an influence? Finally "Fraud in the name of god" , I admit this is not for the typical thrashers, because vocals are not in the norm, but that's part of what makes this original, on this track you can hear some SLAYER(US) meets KREATOR(Ger) ideas , the arrangements are great and also made me think of NECROPHILIAC(Arg) , the drumming speed on double bass kicks shines from time to time demonstrating the qualities of it, I guess it even reminds me of KORZUS(Bra) . Highly recommended demo for anyone looking for this kind of unique-on-its-way recording. SAVIOUR(Chl) - Call from Bellow 1993. Tape by Infernal Overkill Productions. Totally unknown to me, these are practitioners of Death Metal in the 90s vein with a foot on some 80s DEATH(US) , vocals seem totally inspired by Barney Greenway or Kam Lee . This project also counts on great arrangement between the two guitars and some mid-tempo drumming that can take you to BENEDICTION(UK) . I don't know what else to add on this one, little intents of MORBID ANGEL(US) too, these demo is composed by "Saviour Devourer", "Memories of a spirit sentenced" and "Diabolical Baptism" , three tracks that will please any deather around. Thanks Animal for this one, highly appreciated! SOOTHSAYER(Can) - demo 1986, tape. Believe it or not, I gave them a try some times and never felt too much hooked by them. This time I was really impressed by myself why the fuk that happened to me? because this is in the very vein of SACRIFICE(Can) , high screams are identically ripping mad, love them, as soon as it begins I would scream "Necronomicon" !! as it if were SACRIFICE itself, or even "Turn in your grave" on later screams, first riff is just SLAYER(US). I have a couple of ideas why that happened, may be, I step on their first LP, which is too much crossover for my tastes, two, their tracks are not that long, but this does not make too much sense to me, so I am going to claim it was just pure poserism from my side. This demo is really good, its titles are "Death Radiation" violently killer, "Troops of hate" with solos with pretty similar sound to BLOOD FEAST(US) 's ones, "Kill Oppression" including some vox ala Patrick Ranieri from HELLWITCH(US) on their track "Purveyor of Fear" and even SADUS(US) , "Build the Terrorism" with a solo mimicking some SLAYER(US) in their track 'The Antichrist' "THE ONLY WAY TO TAKE CONTROL IS TO BE A REAL TERRORIST!!!" just fuktastik!!! and "Deadly Fear" really HC ala CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER(US) , all tracks equally great. This would be a mixture between SACRIFICE and AGGRESSION(Can) due to its hardcore influences here and there, and of course LETHAL PRESENCE(Can) cannot be out of this combo. Highly recommended for ignorant fuks like myself! X-CRETA(Bel) - Patronizing the Heterodox 1986. Total unknown to me, these guys deliver a disturbing Hardcore mixed with Thrash Metal with influences coming from ACCUSED(US) and BULLDOZER(Ita) . "David slays Golliath" is its violent openning. "Exaggerated" keeps the vibe with its rollercoaster of speed, fast, slow and punky rythms, few guitars ala FEARLESS IRANIANS FROM HELL(US) . "Destructive Outfit" made me think a little bit of THE EXECUTE(Jpn) while "The Law of Gravitation" took me to CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER(US) on their "Life in grave" demo, totally northamericandeathrashy with punk. Upto now I realise the vocals not only ressembles to AC wild's but also to the classical German Thrash Metal approach, for instance SODOM(Ger) , DEATH ROW(Ger) , and on... "The Wild One" reminded me of the HC style excecuted by MOTTEK(Ger) on their "Hypnoze" LP . "Oblivion" keeps demonstrating their obscure HC approach with its crunchy guitars and tremolos here and there, it gets weird when suddenly the track stops, like as if it was splitted in halves. "The Heterodox" if this were super fast I would say the first riff could have been done by THE UNSANE(US) , I guess this band at 45rpm sounds like them ha! by the way, this is an instrumental track. "Talks about morality" once more showing their punk side influenced by the UK school , "you really got me" phrase is impossible not to relate them with THE KINKS (UK) . "X-creta Banzai Mosh" closes this homogenous release of HC/THRASH/PUNK music. Thanks again Victor sos for this recommendation!! MISSION OF CHRIST(Can) - Silence in Grave Demo 1987, dubbed tape. This band is quite complex to associate with others because is a huge mixture among so many bands. For instance at first listen I thought of CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER(US) (impossible to avoid since this demo title is almost identical to CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER's one) plus MINOR THREAT(US) plus AGGRESSION(Can) plus KREATOR(Ger) plus EXCRUCIATION(Swi) some METALLICA(US) may be some VOIVOD(Can) and RAYDEAD(Aut) ... what a mixture ah? this band even mimicks an intro ala VENOM(UK) and some other riffs but while beering at this very moment is quite hard to think exactly were those come from, sorry folks. Expect a Thrash Metal Hardcore here! Thanks Victor Ruiz for the enlightening! AGGRESSOR(Pan) - Call from the Crypt Demo 1990. dubbed tape. Thanks to the Panamenian documentary previously reviewed here, I ended up knowing there was another AGGRESSOR in Panama, as soon as I finished watching the documentary, I wrote down their name in order to get their demo whenever possible, because this was labeled as Deathrash. From its very beginning, you won't be able to ignore the amazing pressence of the bass, riffs are really thrash metal and the vocals are making their way into Death Metal. Even though this has a total rehearsal sound, it's clear and you can recognize what it is being played, in "Prepare to die", riffs are inspired mostly by KREATOR(Ger) in "Endless Pain" era, some vocals rythms reminded me of POSSESSED(US) in "Death Metal" and when the word "Kill" appears took me to RANCID DECAY(US) "love to destroy" track, with traces of DEATH(US) in "Scream bloody Gore" LP. "Screams of Terror" now shows influeces on SLAYER(US) in "Chemical Warfare" track and in the middle of the track I feel "Yog Sothoth" from POISON(Ger) kind of rythms, in fact, they sound like them on their early recordings, no doubt. "War is Hell" has great bestial drummings with doublebasskicks killerly fast, this track has much more rythm changes and pretty smart ones, still keeping the POISON's vibe, I am honestly impressed. "Total extermination" was left to close, man the bass is impressively a punching ripping fist! When on first riff now you can hear that deathrash tremolo I was waiting for, later to be followed by typical Thrash Metal from SEPULTURA(Bra) . What to say? This together with CARAS DE HAMBRE(Pan) are the best projects one could listen to from that hidden country. This demo, if it had just a little bit of better mixing/production, would be astonishingly competitive with the rest of their time underground contemporary counterparts around the world. In the end a fukin fantastic demo, I would say a mixture between DARKESTHRASH(Ury) and POISON , you can even hear an arpeggio guitar at the end ressembling to "Sphynx" track he he. Hugely recommended for those willing to get their piece of raw deathrash! Infinitely grateful to Raul, you kill beyond killness!! ENSLAVER(Pan) - Degradation demo 1991, dubbed. AGGRESSOR(PAN) evolved into this project, they changed name, also their style, now it's totally Death Metal oriented, typical from that era. The thing is, the music ideas are somehow quite complex, unique and beyond the established Northamerican/Swedish styles, it seems they downtuned the guitars nearer to what the UK vein was doing, BOLT THROWER(UK) or CARCASS(UK) and some things here and there in the vein of DVC(US) and I cannot avoid thinking of DEICIDE(US) on some tremolos, and DEATH(US) on somber parts with little NIHILIST(SWE) ideas too, may be even some CADAVER(NOR) . Of course the evolution is quite notorious since this sounds much better than the previous recordings with AGGRESSOR. This recording is not bad at all, has some remarkable ideas that try to push beyond the boundaries of the well known bands from the time, the thing is, I cannot be honest with this since I am bored of this crunchy DM style from the 90s, leaving their Thrash Metal influences behind, slowed them down, removed the aggression and got focused on skills, weird-tempo changes, better sound and darkness, in my mind, I need that thrash part that expulses the insanity/rebelion/anger within. The demo count on 4 tracks, "Limited by the Cell", "Deadly Reign" , "Into the Avernus/Degradation" and "Voodoo Doll". For those into 90s DM, you'll definitly get an encounter with an extreme metal project inspired by the classics adding their own touch on the top, not being super unique but somehow identifiable. Recommended for anyone interested in extreme metal projects from latinamerica for sure. CALIGULA(US) - Technical Aggression 1987 demo, RE by the excellent label, Ripping Storm Records. "The killing of time" is its intro, "Crippled Youth" total Thrashing Metal from US in all its words, I find connections to DARK ANGEL(US) with a totally present bassist and its vocalist also seems to be in that line too, ala Don Doty with almost mimicking the Tom Araya's way of fast pronunciations at times, thought of BURNT OFFERING(US) with no hessitation, pretty good track. "Paralysis" starts with a short arpeggied guitar intro, then gets thrashed, includes some cuts ala SLAYER(US) too with great double kicks on drums. "Euthanasia" has some good parts and some that are not. "Caligula" closes this tape, great riffs on its beginning, more agression and DARK ANGEL vibe here, mixed rythms and outstanding bass/drummings arrangements, the vocals rythms are quite weird though. In fact you can connect this vocalist with his previous more Speed Metal project named DEATHRASH(US). I recommend this for US thrash addicts. VIOLENT NOIZE(US) - #2 1986. This fanzine is written killerly with a great approach on focusing on the best of the best during that time. Interviews are weirdly ordered at times with quotation marks instead of the typical questions-answers , I think it's because those were not formally ints but may be face-to-face comments, sometimes made it hard to follow. Anyway here you will find excellent info about WEHRMACHT(US) , SACRIFICE(Can) , AGGRESSION(Can) , TERMINAL DEATH(US) , INSANITY(US), DEATH(US) plus reviews. Highly recommended. CULT OF STEEL(Chl) - #1 2023 ? , this is a spanish-written chilean A5 fanzine not focused on any particular subgenre but in every sphere of metal, from heavy to black. Lots of small and not too precise reviews and short interviews. I enjoyed the followings: INSECURITY(Chl) , NECRORIPPER(Chl) , POLTERGEIST(Chl) and FOSA (Chl) . I liked it's fully exposing local bands across their land, and was nice to see some of the great names there like UNHALLOWED(Chl) and BLACK BEAST(Chl) . My only recommendation, they should have included release date and city, I bet this is not from santiago, but I can be wrong. Great work for its size, 16 pages, and I am sure they don't expect being an in-depth fanzine but a promotion-like one. Good one to check, hopefully this will improve for future releases, this was just their good beginning. This should be promoted outside their lands around latinamerica for sure!
