Today is the day where, besides vomits get transfered into characters, oviations to the masters of thrash metal deafen the world. DEVASTATION(US) - Destined to Death Demo 1986, dubbed tape. The artwork of this demo represents "Infernal overkill" kind of idea and their style is totally Thrash Metal quite SLAYER(US) -ish, "Massive Devastation" has some groove that took me to LETHAL AGGRESSION(US) and vocals are less ripping than what you can find on Jeff Becerra's style but in that line, I also thought of BLACK DETHE(US) . "Destined to Death" is quite different, the groove is quite particular I must say, the need of an extra guitar is notorious, I did not like this track at all. "Syndrome of Terror" back to a DARK ANGEL(US) kind of cruelty, weak vocals make it pretty incomplete or less deadly. "Deceptive Slaughter" again in the SLAYER line but fails to deliver the agression due to dull drumming with more weak vocals. "Raging Mayhem" left to the end of the demo was a good idea since it wakes you up from previous tracks, it's more Speed Metal and serves the purpose, it even has some EXODUS(US) stolen riffs. In the end, just to follow their historical evilution. DEVASTATION(US) - Violent Termination Demo 1986, dubbed. Previous to their first album, start raging with "Innocent Submission" with a total BLACK DETHE(US) guitar tune and even the sound of the snare! Since this counts with tracks of what was their future release, one still realises that recording another guitar was still needed. "Violent Termination" introduced tremolo, getting closer to the Death metal approach but keeping their Thrash Metal groove, luckily this recording got a little bit more furious. "Eternally Possessed" again shows the same production used for the first track so I can assume this demo was recorded in differente live-rehearsal sessions. Vocals rythms are in the "nasty" ronnie ways ( NASTY SAVAGE(US) ) keeping the SLAYER(US) -ish influences too. "Power to kill" counts with rythm changes and so on but with non-agressive drumming so seems okey but not violent. From now on, a different production was used and sounds much more violent, "Meet your Maker" reminded me of a mixture between "At dawn they sleep" and "Kill Again" . "Living in Torment" took me a little bit to SlAUGHTER(Can) 's "Tales of the macabre" and "Day of Doom" closes the demo. These recordings along with "Contaminated" demo from 1988 are part of their "Violent Demonstration" compilation, I won't spare words on that latest demo because it's a demo version of their impressive second LP "Signs of Life" and I haven't felt it provides something extra. I hadn't checked these demos before and honestly I haven't found something that would surprise me. This compilation serves the purpose of historical analysis and development of the band, which I totally believe it was its aim. DEVASTATION(US) - Violent Termination 1987, dubbed. This is the first album these texan thrashers put out back then... Listening to their demos forced me to get back to this album, this is Thrash Metal with not too much speed but consistent riffs, cuts and clear and almost ripping vocals. The guitar sound, the bass fullfilling the whole atmosphere with a much more agressive and well executed drumming makes this recording a hell of a step if you check their demos... influences coming from CELTIC FROST(Swi) mixed with SLAYER(US) is what put them almost in the same bag I would put DREAM DEATH(US) and also comparable with RECIPIENTS OF DEATH(US) second MLP. Most of the tracks are included in the demos mentioned above but here you have them; "Massive Devastation" killer if you compare this with the demo version, "Innocent Submission" again, much better, "Syndrome of terror" now became violent and the background guitar of course helped to give them the missing piece of the puzzle, made me think of "Piece by Piece" this time, "Violent Termination" is the deathrashy as I said before, it even made me think of "Beyond Evil" by MALICIOUS ONSLAUGHT(US) , the mixture of tempos without being super fast is what separates this album from others, and in the end it's an interesting approach. "Death Calling" closes A side supremely. "Meet your maker" , so SLAYER-ish and amazing. "Insanity" starts like "Aggressive Perfector" and goes in that direction. "Deceptive Slaughter" is still dull like in the demos, the production helped but not that much. "Beneath the surface" is okey, a little bit faster with almost blasts at parts. The whole album is on the average, even though vocals are better than before, one can perceive as if the vocalist is not willing to scream, which is weird having that music just for you to vomit. For me this is not a bad recording, not super impressive but I do enjoy it, surely their super "Sign of Life" album kill beyond killness but here you have part of their steps towards that piece of recording, if you don't know this band, check them chronologically, otherwise this will be spoiled! HAMMERHEAD(Pan) - No one to tell 1991 demo, dubbed tape. Even though this was released in 91, it got recorded in 89, the demo shows a really peculiar way to be influenced by the german wave, a kind of DESTRUCTION(Ger) meets KREATOR(Ger) , being latinamerican again, I cannot avoid thinking of ANGKOR VAT(Ury) and APOSTASY(Chl) demo . I thought this band was going to be Heavy Metal but shut my ugly face with a punch. The highlight on this demo, besides its peculiarity, it's its creativity in solos and rythm changes. "Apocalypse (The Final Punishment)" is an intro that took me to russia, I think POST(Rus) has a similar outro, I mean the recent reissue of their first demo. "No One to Tell" shows off the Thrash Metal tank to invade your brains they are, excellent guitarskills, in fact the guitar tune is that clean yet raw with super high recording quality by itself that I wonder how this might have sound if it would have been framed in a profesional studio like european counterparts back in those years... I bet this would have been a top quality release without any doubt at all. "Convicted" asures the aforementioned influences without any doubt. "Fight to survive" starts ala "Pain Killer" by JUDAS PRIEST(UK) then turns into a METALLICA(US) -ish with HEATHEN(US) stuff too, plus TESTAMENT(US) . "Legions of Death" dances over the neoclassical approach to smash into EXODUS(US) -ish plus SLAYER(US) -ish ways with super weird guitars that it's hard for me to relate to something else, just my ignorance , pretty good track. Side B killed me with Antonin Dvorak(Cze) 's intro , was it him, right? giving place to "Inquisition Soldiers" , faster and of course more appealing to me, my kind of beer in Thrash Metal, absoulutely brillant track. "Twilight Zone" I cannot fukin believe this starts just like "Estoy Muriendo" from ANGKOR VAT!! right afterwards goes on with its already described formula, this time arrangements create something cosmic in the environment, took me to bands like ALVACAST(Ury) , "Al borde del abismo" era, but due to the demo production I think ABSIDE(Ury) is more appropiate, they even share some solo composition. "Visions of the Past" is an excellent skilled arpeggio talking between a couple of guitars while a third one on the back, somehow like ANNIHILATOR(Can) 's style in "Alison in hell". "Third Reich" is the end of the demo as a whole, and what a fukin impressive way to consume the last minutes of tape. The whole demo is so tight, the musicians are excellent and the music is not for a listen on-the-fly. Definitely a demo that will be around my deck for some time. I totally encourage you to give them a fukin try, you won't believe this hidden gem was awaiting for you to die by its power! This demo includes a live bonus track entitled "El Verdugo" , reminded me of SS(Ven) when on live spanish-sung tracks too but it's not good at all in my opinion. In the end, this is something you don't come across everyday, skilled-as-fuk Thrash Metal from Panama. Thank you so much Raúl for the englightment on this panamenian gem! HUMAN GAS(Jpn) - 2nd Demo 1986. Another japanese punk/HC influenced by initial GISM(Jpn) recordings for sure, besides the UK vibes coming from DISCHARGE(UK) one can also feel the fury from BAD BRAINS(US) . I cannot avoid perceiving the intentions of what's found in Punk Greatest Hits 1984 recordings, by GISM . What seems unexpected in this kind of bands is that approach of solos in terms of guitars but also in terms of bass, with that presence mostly coming from MOTORHEAD(UK) , I also found some noises that took me to SLOD(Slo) . You will find this as a real classic in fact. Highly recommended for those interested in HC with deep-mic-throated vocals and insane spirit. Thanks joakill for sharing this one with me, some time ago, but finally I was able to write something about it ha! GUDON(Jpn) - Fushuu 1984 EP , another japanese Punk HC but with less HC . Reminds me to GZET(Jpn) only in track "Rest" and "Happy Genocide" to DL50(Par) ; both quite good but in general terms, I found this pretty boring, the bass is impressive, drums are quite dull and vocals are greatly deep but somehow the violence seems lost. This was not my kind of beer but anyone curious give them a try, I believe it's good to expand your knowledge in this field. ZOUO(Jpn) - The Final Agony EP 1984, dubbed tape. This is an experimental, more teathrical punk kind of GISM(Jpn) music, this bends the violence into another dimension which is not my kind of beer but is not bad either, I admit I liked it but of course I prefer the original GISM's ways , G-ZET(Jap) and the likes, you will find little dosis of VENOM(UK) too. Along with this one, "Frustration" EP was also included, recordings from the very same year that were part of another japanese compilation along with GISM and other projects I don't know... here the direction is more notorious, be aware, this is not for everyone. Side B is a live recording from 1984 which is supposed to be their first album, and as expected, tracks from both EP's are present, and the recording is pretty clear so it is indeed enjoyable. I would recommend strictly "The Final Agony" EP, its tracks are great, here the memorable ones; "Sons of Satan", "No Power" , "Making love with the devil" where you get a "Syphilitic Vaginas to Pieces" vox-rythms mixed with Surfrock and dark blues, I would attach a PMS(US) comparisson here , "Bloody Master" the hardcore MOTORHEAD(UK) with its more-constant-rythm taking you to "Dead city" by VIOLENT FORCE(Ger) . Thanks joakill for throwing this monicker to me. DISGRACE(Bra) - Cao de Guarda 1989 demo & Demo '89 , dubbed tape. Sung in portguese and fast Deathrash metal, first demo is only one track, probably the best done by them, then three tracks more in the second one. The band is okey, fast but you won't listen to something you haven't heard before, may be the fact that is in portuguese is what makes them appealing at times, it is violent but these demos are not spectacular. Just for those willing to dig into the brazilian pits of death. It's been quite a while but thanks Pat for this! MENTAL DECAY(Dnk) - Demo 1987 , dubbed tape. I don't have too much recollection on early deathrash metal from Denmark besides the mighty SAMHAIN(DNK) / DESEXULT(Dnk), CRIONIC(Dnk) and ATRO CITY(Dnk) , but those two are more Thrash Metal, while INVOCATOR(Dnk) is the supreme to reign here, but much more pollished skilled as fuk deathrash; and tonight was the night when this tape had to be put, once again, on my deck... This is a Thrash Metal approaching to the Death Metal sphere thanks to the vocals and production. Vocalist reminds me KREATOR(Ger) 's Mille with little AUTOPSY(US) 's Reifert mixed with MERCILESS(Swe) 's Rogga, anyhow has some lunatic touch is great but mostly on the first two tracks. "Eat the poser's guts" kills not only with its title but with its music, some vibe drove me to CORPSE(Swe) 's "Black dawn" . "Beyond the walls" starts in the SLAYER(US) vein, solos are not remarkable, quite naive probably, but go hand in hand with the music. "Endless Destruction" is totally in KREATOR's vein , I thought of "Living in fear" , in fact those words appear in the lyrics, not too fresh honestly. "The final Scar" is really good track, it sounds just in the vein of something I cannot recall fuk! "Mental Decay" is the closing track, some rythm on vox took me to "Mirror of Eternity" by EXCRUCIATION(Swi) , great track. This demo was reissue on 12'' some time ago, along with some hidden live recordings on CD, by FOAD Records, If you can find it cheap, I wouldn't doubt on getting a copy. Recommended. BELETH(Jpn) - demo 1987 & Promo 88 , dubbed. Re-checking this japanese deathrash metal tape, I came across with this project initially when checking Death Metal progression, in an almost chronological order, along with DEATHPEED(Jpn) and MESSIAH DEATH(Jpn) . Demo 1987 starts with "The Tower of the Grudge" which is excellent, reminds me of the great ideas by BLACK DETHE(US) , in fact I knew them almost at the same time if I am not mistaken; mixed with some chaotic noise coming from NUCLEAR DEATH(US) . It's followed by "Tragic Death" , which is faster and turns a little bit into the Death Metal/Grincore realm, REPULSION(US) , TERRORIZED(US) and NAUSEA(US) are the ones coming to mind not to say UNKNOWN DEATH(US) , and that's it, two track demo. Promo from 1988 is a little bit rawer and I feel the ideas turned into POSSESSED(US) , first track "Mortality" has "Twisted Minds" riff for instance, drums are excellent and absoulutely clear , vocals being deeper than Jeff Becerra's, made me relate them to MORTEM(Per) 's demo "Evil Dead". "Tragic Death" is also included here but this time I felt the influeces are coming from DEATH(US) despite the fact that the grindcore vibe is there for sure. This demo sounds a little bit more noisy than the one before, it also has only two tracks but these are really good to have! MESSIAH DEATH(Jpn) - Rehearsal demo 1987, dubbed tape. Naming them was unavoidable to put this tape. This rehearsal demo serves its purpose, to show off their name, is quite noisy, amateur and on the average, the vocals are good and some riffs are interesting, but there's nothing more for me to add on them on this recording. MESSIAH DEATH(Jpn) - Invocated Unholy Souls Demo 1989, dubbed tape. I cannot develop a proper progression on them since I don't have their 1988 demo, but the jump among these two demos is impressive. The music is somehow connected to TRANSGRESSOR(Jpn) but at the same time I felt some connection to CADAVER(Nor) in terms of sounds, the ideas are mixed with BENEDICTION(UK) in their first track "Forbidden Truth" , some MORBID ANGEL(US) , also found in the track "Invocated unholy souls" with PESTILENCE(Hol) , and some IMMOLATION(US) if we check "Transgressor" track, mixed with a grindcore touch coming from TERRORIZER(US) and NAPALM DEATH(UK) . This is a really good demo lacking of better studio recording, I am not sure if it is that or my dubbed tape is not in great conditions. Recommended for death metal fans. Anyone willing to help me get their "Immortal Kingdom" from 1988 get in touch! note: Their demos were reissue by FOAD Records on 12'' under this title: "Invocated Unholy Tracks - The Most Complete Collection of Messiah Death" . CRIMINAL CHRIST(Jpn) - Cryptic Doom Demo 1986 , dubbed tape. This is pre- MESSIAH DEATH(Jpn) , starts with an instrumental track then "Last command in Hades" is similar to GROUND ZERO(Jpn) but not that clean. Drums sound really similar to what you hear on their next demo rehearsal under the other monicker, "Curse Ritual" is closer to what you find in 1987 reh-demo. "Criminal Christ" is really HC with Thrash Metal quite SLAYER(US) -ish . "Cryptic doom" is the final track inspired by SLAYER, DEATH(US) 's "Zombie Ritual" , at this point DECEASED(US) came into my mind too on their early demos mostly due to vocals and a little cut used almost at the end. This is recommended for those unknowing the early japanese scene and also those maniacs that enjoy rehearsal kind of recordings sound. Thanks again Pat for all these! Фронт(Rus) - Das Wasser der Köln 1990, RE tape by Peste Sagrada. Good reissue, it's well done, I liked the detail of almost-white artwork for the serigraphy on the plastic case to contrast; but the reality is, the album seems not too interesting to me, it's OK, sounds great, the music is just dull, the best track in fact is from their first LP, " Железный кулак " but even the original version is much better. If you find this one cheap and are willing to just have a russian item on your collection, well get it, otherwise I think you are not missing anything important. For russianways-addicts! DARK LUST(Ita) - Shadow of the lost Entity 1992, dubbed tape. Rechecking this, quite weird, Death Metal project, without getting into the brutal grindness of DISGORGE(Mex) , it counts with some of the sharp screams found in "Chronic Corpora Infest" album, and also the somber environment the guitar produces, you will definitely feel it when "Childlish Obessession" commences, but it's present in the whole recording anyway. Even though this comes from the 90s and has a black metal touch, the demo achieves being a good catch, vocals are not the typical dull growls but a little bit more chaotic, probably the production helps them to keep an obscure identity beyond the Death Metal standards of that decade. Quite recommended for those digging the italian graveyards. Thanks my friend mediocridad for this one! Took me quite a while to write about it HA! MAYHEMIC(Chl) - The Darkest Age 2022 , CD by Awakening Records. This is a compilation of the stuff they have released so far, before their first LP that was out last year. Starting chronologically (well done!) with their "No life" demo from 2018, "Beyond Hell" shows up, the chorus takes you to "Evil Rites" by SEPULTURA(Bra) but the music is more German Thrash Metal-oriented, I would say typical from the chilean ways , to mention some bands I would say INSANITY(Chl) , EVIL MADNESS(Chl) and DRENCROM(Chl) . "Burning the cross" has a TOXIC HOLOCAUST(US) riff here and there, if we travel beyond, SODOM(Ger) mixed with SLAYER(US) and BATHORY(Swe) with KREATOR(Ger) is what you get. "Mayhemic" is the last song for this work, which seems more focused on KREATOR's "Tormentor" mixed with SEPULTURA's max vox rythms on diabolic mumblings, impressive debut for these thrashers, sounds just like an album. "Mortuary feast of skeletons" EP from 2019 starts with "Shaking Ground" , this got a little bit more chilean, by that I mean more agressive, violent, thrasher and faster, some of the starting riffs reminded me of AGGRESSION(Can) , then the rest is still brazilian ala ATTOMICA(Bra). "Mortuary feast of skeletons" got into a fast phased POSSESSED(US) , and now I thought of MORBID SAINT(US) . "Death spawn" in the EVIL MADNESS vein, "Mayhemic" was included too to close the EP, again, excellent production. "Shaking ground" CDR single also in 2019 includes "Shaking ground" and "Burn the cross" , these were probably used for promotion. "The Last Judgement / Volcanic Blast" single from 2020, here some drumming got almost into the SEPULTURA's "Schizophrenia" toms sound, and the tupatupa's ways also seem into igor's line, I cannot avoid mentioning EXPLICIT HATE(Bra) . "Dying Victims" by KREATOR was included, played with cleaner sound and different distortion made me think of PROTECTOR(Ger) just when starting , and "Tormentor" by pre-KREATOR TORMENTOR(Ger) was too. Excellent release to observe the process of this band that obviously started impressively since their very first demo, by the photographies included seem this is a project of really young individuals, what a promising future! Recommended! Now I need to get their first album, I hope they had developed more into their chilean roots. Thanks joako for this!
Hey there readers... busy as fuk with not too much time, but I cannot avoid the fukyouallandpleasedie greetings with hate and the vomit: DETESTATION(US) - Unheard Cries 1996 EP, bootleg tape. Their monicker screams GISM(Jpn) but I found no relation to it at first glance, with that EP title it's unavoidable not to think of "Hear nothing, see nothing, say nothing" LP, in fact is in the very line of SACRILEGE(UK) with a Tam's vocal tune mixed with PUNK TURDS IN SPACE(UK) . Total hardcore attack , to my surprise, pretty killer even for being from mid-90s. This EP includes a BLACK SABBATH(UK) cover, "Children of the grave" not that good, "War machine" by ANTICIMEX(Swe) live cover closes, the whole EP is consistent and good. Thanks edoom ( BEERMUG(Bra) ) for this recommendation! enjoy their gig! Recommended for those looking for HC bands with guts in the UK vein including fem vox. OZ(Fin) - The OZ 1982, bootleg tape. Commencing with "Hey you", pretty good track in the early JUDAS PRIEST(UK) vein but you can instantly refer to VORTEX(Hol) as soon as vox jumps in with some RAVEN(UK) first LP intentions too. "Call from your eyes" goes straight ahead into TANK(UK) ways from their 2nd LP mixed with DEEP PURPLE (UK) kind of chorus plus some TED NUGENT(US) on guitar ideas. "Runnin' the line" has the exactly same vibe as "Music Man" from THE RODS(US) pretty shocking but the chorus part sounds like something else, I cannot recall right now. "Rather Night" came back to the early JUDAS PRIEST meeting BLACK SABBATH(UK) at some guitar stairways, solos are just like JUDAS PRIEST tune, pretty good mixture. Side B starts with "Saturday Night" stealing TANK's riff heavily! It's impressive to realise the amount of identity they were lacking of at this very moment, previous to the their absolute cult album "Fire in the Brain". "Second Hand Lady" also begins with pretty wellknown riffage but could not realise what it was, vocal rythms are in the RAINBOW(UK) 's ways and ALIEN FORCE(Dnk) too. "In the Chains" is a ballad totally into Paul di Anno 's "Remember Tomorrow" vein. "Capricorn Man" is the last track on this, again al TANK-JUDAS PRIEST . This is not a fabulous recording, not bad, but "Fire in the Brain" is brilliant and the distance from one album to the next is quite huge. I had no idea about this release previous to the well-known one but exchanging words on "Parque Centenario", Argentina, with some old heavy metal maniacs tought me about its exsitence. I recommend this one to anyone willing to experience good Hard Rock / Heavy Metal music with little identity but interesting approach. Of course the forthcoming LP is more than a must. ANTICHRIST(Swe) - Sinful Birth 2017, 12'' by Electric Assault Records. This label did an excellent job on the release, top notch quality in every aspect. A-side, with "Savage Mutilations" track starts showing off the, somehow, different approach on guitars, despite counting on their great vocalist, who gives them a solid identity, this time they chose a darker pathway for their music, instead of catchy-speed riffs, they went on mimicking the gods of POSSESSED(US) not only in their guitar tunning but also on some rythms. At first glance one could misunderstand their intentions, because is not catchy, but smarter than their cult release "Forbidden World". "The Entity" has a great almost Heavy Metal intro falling into a kind of "March to Die" track by POSSESSED, check their tune, is identical, impressive, yet not copycat. Another highlight is the effect used on some screams, the almost-sempithernal reverb is great. These guys totally demonstrated they are versatile as fuk. "Under The Cross" starts in the very same line, this time more ala "Pentagram" from "Seven Churches" top quality track without any doubt. "The Black Pharaoh" with vocals more ala DEATHHAMMER(Nor) music mutated into a BULLDOZER(Ita) kind of riffs to later be fusioned with POSSESSED 's "The Exorcist" guitar-hammers. "Sinful Birth" sounds like a mix of DARK ANGEL(US) , EXODUS(US) , SLAYER(US) and POSSESSED , particularly reminded me of "Sinful Dreams" demo by INCUBUS(Aus) by some guitars and name, I bet was no coincidence , hell of a track. "Burned beyond recognition" went back to their Speed Metal roots to begin, whilst POSSESSED-SLAYER influences still present afterwards. "Chernobyl 1986" it's an impressive instrumental track, that creative the listener won't ignore it nor get distracted, I did not like the samples used, are totally unnecessary in my opinion, the track is great with great rythm changes and solos to add that... "Fall of the Temple of Solomon" finishes this heavy load of crushing metal, great track. The whole album is homogeneous and worthy of these high class swedish Thrashers. Totally recommended. HATROSS(Pan) - Demo #3 2015, independent. Well they improved quite a lot in this demo, mostly in sound. I feel is more into the BOLT THROWER(UK) 's vein mostly in vox but also a NAPALM DEATH(UK) spices here and there, swedish vein is not left apart either, in the ENTOMBED(Swe) line. This demo has 4 tracks, "Shadows of Death" , "Morbid Torment" , "Final Darkness" and "Undead" which was also part of their "Vengeance of Evil" EP. To understand their progress this cannot be ignored. CHRIST SNACKS(Pan) - Demo #7 2023, This is a grindcore/goregind/death metal band from Panamá thriving in the underground since early 90s, so they are quite experience in what they do. You could have seen raúl in the Panamenian documentary previously reviewed here, he's the mind of this project, he is also part of bands like HORRENDO(Pan) , ABERRANTE(Pan) , EMBRION DEFORME(Pan), he released stuff with nadasdysblacksnake in ANTUMNIA(Pan) (psycho phil hallo! ) , and more... he is also the guy behind PUS Records ( https://soundcloud.com/pusrecordspanama ) and the publisher on https://frompanamabowels2014.blogspot.com/ . If you are curious enough about panama, then this is the right menthor to get in touch with, believe me. Thanks once again my friend for helping me out with the (rape-) chase of hidden panamenian underground! if willing to get in touch with him don't hessitate writing him to drmorbo1972 at gmail. XENOPHOBIA(Slo) - Fragments of Morbid Reality 1990 demo, CDR mp3... I had an slovenian thrash custom compilation by myself which had this rotten demo. Obscure thrash metal with mixed influences, I can think of the brazilian scene meeting KREATOR(Ger) "Pleasure to kill" era and thanks to its sound I connect this with TERMINATOR(Cze) "Termination" demo era. This is a 6-tracks demo really in your face. Tracks are quite short but really interesting, those are "Road to extinction" , "M.S.I.C.S." , "Horrified Vulgariosity" , "Addict to Chemichally" , "Impulse of Violence" and "The Last fragment of Morbid Reality" . Please, anyone outthere that could help me out getting this in proper quality contact me! EPIDEMIC ZONE(Slo) - Escape from Detente 1989 demo, CDR mp3... This is also part of my custom compilation. Great thrash metal. Another excellent demo from that place in the world, vocals are fantastic, I think if they were a little bit more Speed Metal they could have been linked to DARK PHASE(Trk) , sound also ressembles to the aforementioned czechian band mixed with the sound on the raw demos by EXORCIST(Pol) but not that raw. This demo is outstanding, tracks are all equally good but some are quite hymns, like "No place for children" quite HC in fact, "I don't believe" is great HC-Punk with Thrash Metal , "Alive in the coffin" kills, it even has some Heavy Metal parts. Absolutely recommended. Again, someone wanting to help me out with a proper quality audio of this demo contact me! MORTUARY DRAPE(Ita) - Into the drape EP 1992, bootleg tape. Lost the opportunity to see them live in Chile years ago, because I did not know them at the time, I traveled for MORBID SAINT(US) , they cancelled and ACHERON(US) was an alternative, or MORTUARY DRAPE , I went for ACHERON. That obliged me to check their mighty "All the witches Dance" as soon as I went back home, there I realised what a fukin masterpiece I had lost... anyway... revisited MORTUARY DRAPE's demos when reading "Spain is Different" fanzine and I could not agree more with the author about how crap those recordings were... but this EP, even though I knew about it, I listened to it on the fly, and never fixed my mind on it, in fact I was not able to remember anything from it more than its title. Talking about the band with a couple of friends, both insisted on this was a must. Okey, here I am writing about what my chemichalbraintorments got from it. The environment is everything you are looking for if you already knew what was their first LP all about... "Mother" is hell of a track, "Zombie" with some voices that took me to SABBAT(Jpn) and also HELLAVENGER(Chl) , and "Vengeance from Beyond" kills ... the whole EP is killer honestly, the dynamics, environments and creativity on rythms are what make them quite unique and got exacervated on the next release. I think the unordered discovery ruined my experience a little bit here, because I find "All the witches dance" too impressive, so I was not able to develop a precise opinion on this. Fukin great EP and for those unknowing these masters of black thrash metal , fuk the demos, embrace this EP and follow their blackened path. DEF LEPPARD(UK) - On through the Night 1980, LP by Polygram Discos. Relistening to this fukin amazing classic Hard Rock/Heavy Metal in the vein of gods like RAVEN(UK) , DIAMOND HEAD(UK) , TANK(UK) and little LED ZEPPELIN(UK), good one to jump off the bed in a calm morning before rehearsal takes place, of course these were little less Metal if you know what I mean, but that does not spoil this marvellous recording with hell of enjoyable tunes like "Rock Brigade", "It could be you" , "When the walls come tumbling down" , "Wasted" , "Rocks off" , "It doesn't matter" , "Answer to the Master" to name the most memorable ones. This is a cheapo you cannot miss if you enjoy Rock. TRAUMA(Per) - Demo 1989, dubbed tape. Impressive thrash metal attack I did not know. Furious with tons of Brazilian influences like AGRESSOR(Bra) , EXPLICIT HATE(Bra) , some MENACE(Bra) and some WARHATE(Bra) , great amount of rythm changes and absolutely skilled. SLAYER(US) and POSSESSED(US) are also part of their influences without any doubt, SLAYER in a higher dosis even with some rythm-mimicking in vocals. This reminded me of APOSTASY(Chl) ' s ways ("Fraud in the name of god" demo era), in fact, the typical sound from those times. Even though this is a three-tracks demo, it's really good, recommended! Thanks raul once again for your help! MURDER IN THE FRONT ROW(US) - A book depicting the origins of the Bay Area Thrash Metal with high quality pictures and linernotes with great memories. If you got demented by GLORIOUS TIMES book, then this is almost in the same vein with highly impressive production in terms of book-hardcover-pictures-etc. Without ruining you the experiece, I must say that SLAYER(US) and POSSESSED(US) pictures are astonishingly brainfuk! If you have some spare money somewhere, don't miss the chance to get it, but don't forget it's pictorical not content-first kind of book.
"life is hard but that's not an excuse at all" ... hello 2025 and thank you for this absolute piece of shit welcome. when your stomach gestates a ball of utter anxiety and sadness, your mind dreams on suicidal lust and hatred, just fight back with fearless vomits, shall I ? don't care, here you have the almost-monthly-puke: RADIATION(Svk) - Reactor Colapse album 2025, these crazy psychos from Slovakia have released their second album on all physical formats, as you may have seen on this very site, their flyer. Expect classical blackened Thrash Metal with attitude. A project that every supporter of underground acts must worship. Beers from the southern vomitted lands slovakian thrashers! May the collapsed plutanium-overdose gift you in the most doomish chaos! METALLIST(Est) - Frankenstein 1985, shitty mp3. This album comes with 9 tracks of Heavy Metal heavily influenced by the new wave, in fact I perceive the tezz from DISCHARGE(UK) ways on vox, pretty similar vocal tune, they were inspired by bands like TRAITORS GATE(UK) , IRON MAIDEN(UK) and JUDAS PRIEST(UK) , also ressembling to ATLAIN(Ger) and POKOLGEP(Hun) . Tracks are "Arrow and the sword" , "Kahehäälsus" , "Frankenstein" starting as if it were ACDC(Aus) , and musically speaking it's also HARD ROCK, "Köiksuse Harmoonia" in the "Rocka Rolla" album vein, "Pölev Mees", "Eagle", "Aeg" , "Püüd" with a great riff that reminded me of early MERCYFUL FATE(Dnk) , but in fact I listened to that in DEATH ROW(Ger) in a faster way, "Hope Land" with more JUDAS PRIEST on slow parts ala "Victim of Changes". The whole recording is good, nothing so remarkable but interesting being from Estonia. Thanks fukulo for this recommendation which was not from Russia and had no female vocalist either, but was a good catch for enjoying some underground heavy metal project. Anyone having a copy of this please write to me! METALLIST(Est) - Metallistomaania 1985 demo. "Metallistomaania" track starts really Punk mixed with some good Heavy Metal solos. "Lapsemeelskes" came back to the Metal realms, in the DIO(US) vein mixed with arpeggios and intense bass activities to fall into what I would call a mixutre between JUDAS PRIEST(UK) and BLACK SABBATH(UK) because vox made me think of an OZZY mimick, "Nõid" , "Eldorado" again ala JUDAS PRIEST , "Viikingid" probably the heaviest track, pretty good, "P.K.N.P.K." , and finally "Teel vastu päikesele" has some JETHRO TULL(UK) on its compositions I guess. As you can see, they kept experimenting with their compositions, less Heavy Metal and more Rock-oriented music. I would not recommend this as much as their first release, only to satiate estonian-rockuriosity. METALLIST(Est) - Aikesehingus 1986, their second album, counting on a cleaner sound, better production, they turned into a more sofisticated Hard Rock band, instantly reminded me of THE CULT(UK) with their opening track "Algus" , "Aikesehingus" comes in the BLACK SABBATH(UK) flavour even mimicking OZZY in a 100% , "Unenagu" is like DEEP PURPLE(UK) with DIO(US) and SCORPIONS(Ger) so the sphere changed quite a lot if we compare this track against their first couple, "Puus Tudruk" vocals became a little different, I doubt if this is the very same vocalist, may be he is really versatile, his tune is in the SAXON(UK) ways and THE CULT is still present mixed with POKOLGEP(Hun) and DIO(US), "Tuum" has nothing to do with what I wrote before, Is like jazz-fusion music which turns into a more electric sound with synth and so on... JEFF BECK(US) is what rang the bell, the vocalist pronunciation keeps me in the POKOLGEP ways but with totally diffrent music and the THE CULT vocal tune with no doubt, "Jaaminek" seems to be done in a pretty STEVE VAI(US) way in lots of aspects, ala "Passion and Warfare" album, "Ave Ceasar" closes this totally weird release slowly rising into the DIO and JUDAS PRIEST ways mixed with DEEP PURPLE and SCORPIONS ; here you realise this band was focusing into the best-sellers more than creating their own kind of obscure heavy metal exposure. Thanks my friend den for your help tracing these recordings!!! I won't spare words on "Back Page News" album because is total crap! MALICIOUS ONSLAUGHT(US) - Rebellious Mayhem 1992, dubbed. Weird Death Metal/Thrash Metal act, weirdly produced and weirdly composed, good mixture of weird stuff . I would define this as a RECIPIENTS OF DEATH(US) , to avoid mentioning SLAYER(US) , MALEVOLENT CREATION(US) 1st LP era, MORBID SAINT(US) , DEATH(US) , little MORBID ANGEL(US) and DEVASTATION(US) [chicago] combo... "Transgressor" opens the album with a mixture of music that made me think of DEMISE(US) , DEVASTATION, probably on some vocal rythms, "Beyond evil" made me think of "Kill again" by SLAYER and has a scream that can also lead you to AGRESSION(Can) or MAGNUS(Pol) but only instantly, this is a pretty good track. The omonimous "Rebellious Mayhem" starts again with a different production of what you listen on the aforementioned tracks, this sounds like a compilation more than an album... bass is remarked here, vocals are more obscure and guitars keep being absorved by snare-too-loud sound, I thought of DVC(US) too , I wish they kept their fast tempo instead of lots of up-downs strategy, but that's their way, so it's okey, here I can hear some David Vincent's mimicks on vocals. "Emotional Death" , pretty good name he, great track but quite slow, into the "Show no mercy" era culminating with that jazzy chord ha! "Extinction of God" strikes back with speed in the vein of "Inverted Crosses" from THE UNSANE(US) with great riffs and bass according to the aggression needed for the composition, luckily guitars are louder. "Speculate the future" with a lower production, has great cut-fast-and-skilled riffs showing of the master musicians they were, I am tempted to compare them with VACANT GRAVE(US) on their "Life or Death" album, I can also think of "Guts for dinner" from FATAL(US) , vocals are greatly violent, in the end it's a highlight. "Thrashed black" comes up with a bass solo followed by an egyptian scale falling into deathrash ways, some up-n-down-tremolos again from SLAYER. "Revenge of the innocent" is like "Master of Disguise" from SAVAGE GRACE(US) but much faster and extreme, now do you believe this is weird? HA! This is not for everyone I would say, but in the end it's hell of a recording, it captures the best of the deathrash world with a Death metal production, despite being mixed with un-production tracks, I would recommend this to anyone willing to experience this mixture of top-nocht deathrash bands from the 80s but done in the early 90s. NOTE: further reading regarding this release, in fact is a compilation of the recordings sessions for the "Thrashed Black" 1988 demo and the "Mallicious Onslaught Rehearsal" demo 1990, that's why the different mix among tracks, and that's why the foot on the 80s grave was present. Excellent! SATANCHIST(Cze) - Drtiči kacířských pohlaví 1992 LP by Hexencave Productions. Unknown to me, this has similarities with CELTIC FROST(Swi) , MORTUARY DRAPE(Ita) in the Black and Thrash Metal aspects, but with some different approaches on guitars that take them into the Death Metal realm, of course the deep growls are also part of that, to name something on that field I would say DEMENTOR(Svk) NECROPHAGIA(US) , DARK(Cze) , some AUTOPSY(US) , and some Brazilian-Thrash ideas here and there which also made me think of SAX(Cze) , their sound on guitars solos and their style are particularly Hard Rock, great mixture, the whole crude almost-rehearsal sound, mostly on drumming, is fantastic and healthy for the recording. Definately a great release for those who appreciate music coming from this country with hell of an identity thanks to being sung in Czech, besides the fact the guy seems to be about to vomit his own guts on some violent-regurgitating-screams ha! Highly recommended. MARCA ACME(Ury) - Quebrando Cráneos 2022, independently released on CDR plus pro cover. First album by these maniacs, can you believe it? What a fukin achievement!! For those unknowing them, this is the only real Thrash Metal band from Uruguay, yes, you read it well, the only real, and they are not from the capital city, but San José. They have been active, switching monickers along with little lineup arrangements, for more than 30 years, yeah man they kill beyond killness!! This recording starts with "Experimentando con cadáveres frescos" which starts as if they have finally listened to CANNIBAL CORPSE(US) but they have such a unique touch that you can feel their mixture absolutely well done. Lyrics are totally sung in spanish and that's what makes them so unique and probably so underated too, locally and internationally speaking, despite the fact that they are not from montevideo and were always ignored by most, what a huge fukin pity. "Sonido de perdición" follows with the classical MARCA ACME-ish approach with some almost punk melodies, solos are from beyond, shit alexis you still are a fukin guitar hero! "Profundos abismos sombríos" comes from 2007 , by then ATROZER(Ury) , taken from "Ultimo Momento" demo, they decided to re-recorded it for this release along with "Cruda Realidad" from the same demo, what to say... both versions are great, now more produced with effects on vox and probably more complete drumming, I love their music, their ways, their identity and mostly the spectacular and funny and sadistic spanish lyrics, oh and they always mixed their music with some Death metal. "Sangra Uruguay" is a weak track mixing Speed Metal and Heavy Metal, that's what makes it weak for their common style, and has some ugly clean vox I cannot stand, sorry Jhonan HA! I believe I already talked about it before on some reviews from live gigs in the past, on my fanzine. "Quebrando Cráneo" , who gave the name to this album, has a weird chorus, the rest seems coherent to what they do. Not as remarkable as I would expect honestly, I think it was better live because it was not that clean. And to close this release they decided to add an INNER SACTUM(Ury) cover, the well-known "Wastelands", played sometimes live before, along with "Espirales" and "Instinto Salvaje" from CROSS(Ury) , eyyy Johnan!!! Wait a minute, what the fuk!!?!? now you sing in English!!! HAHAHA! ; Jhonan (vox) always told me "why the fuk people try to cover bands from abroad when we have such great bands that were real influences on all of us? if you want to play a cover, first you do a local one, then do whatever the fuk you want..." and there's when I decided to play ANGKOR VAT(Ury) cover "I want to know" with my band PHERETRUM(Ury) HA! These guys are a huge personal inspiration not only in music but as a humble-model to follow and to highlight that outside the buble in montevideo, warriors are present doing total extreme and unique music, being uniquness something that present times lack of. These are the words from a metalhead inspired by these metalheads from the underworld. Greetings to my friends Aldo, Jhonnan and Alexis, you still rule! Congrats! EXPULSED ANGEL(GER) & PHERETRUM(URY) - Split EP by the mighty Life Eternal Productions. Finally this was matherialized! I am not spreading words on PHERETRUM but in those who deserve it. EXPULSED ANGEL is known for their chaotic and noisy approach but this time they stepped ahead, they have achieved a cleaner production yet crude, total Black/Death/Thrash!! In my opinion, this is the best they have done so far, "Lord of Darkness" track, with its sharp and mad axe, typical from the rusty mind of Steppe, drums are heavywoodstickshammers plus a present and fat bass which at dense parts ressembles to DEATH COURIER(Gre) with its brightness but at the same time dense, this whole combination of different rythms delivers a really insane result, embraced by a dark and lunatic black aura thanks to the vocals. One can think of projects like POISON(Ger) in their demo era plus some Czech/Polish ideas in that of fast guitar changes with sharp notes, I could also think of NECROVOMIT(Ita) in a slower but intense manner, VOMITOR(Aus) can be referenced too and a Brazilian intention is always present. This time you can appreciate really good solos that perfectly go along with the madness. This is absolutely a keystone for their career, hopefully we will be seeing the extension of this new EXPULSED ANGEL in the future to come, a beer and a punch in the darkened skies for them! Totally recommended! Schießköpferen-maniacs in their ugliest form! Prost! Thanks Thomas for making this possible under your highly curated label, we are honoured! ULYSSES SIREN(US) - Above the Ashes compilation. This compilation includes "Terrorist Attack" and "Demo '87" . Since I first knew the mighty BLACK DETHE(US) , I was always intrigued by this project, because I only knew that BLACK DETHE played with them. Today I was relistening to my BLACK DETHE CDR and wondered if after 15 years this could be found somewhere, and it was... This would be an extension of EXODUS(US) . Has a great sound, great production and even though you recognize some METALLICA(US) influences on riffs in "The Reich" and "Lake of fire" (yes is not NOCTURNUS(US) track HA! ), and vocals are pretty similar to Paul's from EXODUS, this has something extra that makes them a good catch. The following demo has quite a different production, was it EVIL DEAD(US) that sounded like this? cannot recall... here they started experimenting a little bit with other instruments, ideas, as you can initially listen on "Leviathan" where arpeggio's are found. "Above the ashes" start with a great scream ressembling to TERRAHSPHERE(US) but the groove is too invasive in my opinion, and vocals suffered a little shift towards that kind of bay Thrash Metal I just can't cope with. "The Resurrection" gets back to where they started luckily, fastpaced track with great soloing. "No trace of shame" kills the demo with techinical riffs following the previous tracks steps with some ugly choruses. For any thrasher out there, this is can be your catch! MESSIAH FORCE(Can) - The Last Day 1987, dubbed tape. The uruguayan bootleger never stops. This is a rare item and pretty expensive, so dubbing a tape with the real vinyl rip was my option (like many other times) . Initially this band sounded too ugly in my ears... guess what... mp3 ruined the whole fukin experience back then... their name came across when exchanging female-vox bands with erik ( XENOTAPH(Arg) ) , obviously I was tempted to re-listen to them and this time the experience was mindblowing. The whole album is dynamic, full of great riffs, solos, screams and speed, no doubt Lynn, the vocalist, is hellishly skilled for her duties. You will encounter ton of influences coming from METALLICA(US) to ANNIHILATOR(Can) , EXODUS(US) and WARLOCK(Ger) 's Doro, VENDETTA(Ger) with some HOLY MOSES(Ger) 's Sabina on some ripping phrases plus HELLION(US) 's Ann with little SENTINEL BEAST(US) 's Debbie. Looking for real skilled Speed/Thrash Metal? this won't fail, unless you get stupid mp3s. Hugely recommended. RAJAS(Jpn) - Rajas 1st 1984, MLP by Sounds Marketing System Inc. This was one of those exchanged names too, I knew their first LP which was too melodic for me, but never cared about their previous EP, well... great stuff here, quite melodic yes but still good, even though has its more Speed Metal tracks with hell of a perfect drumming along with top Rock production, this reminds me to Маркиза(Rus) , little bit more Metal but their soft parts go quite along. Something I found quite peculiar was the fact that lyrics are written part in english, part in japanese, pretty interesting approach, the vocal tune is great too and has its great moments. Not for everyone but definitely for fans of catchy Heavy Metal/Rock with melodies. HROB(Svk) - Hrob Demo 2023 tape by Atomic Vision Productions. This is the Death/Doom Metal project from Slovakia, vrana from RADIATION(Svk) is part of it. This has a clear sound of AUTOPSY(US) on their slow parts and the whole production sounds quite swedish, deep growls in the north american 90s ways, and one can also identify MORTUARY DRAPE(Ita) 's ways on some enviroments, so surely obscure. Quite a good mixture indeed including a great plus, they sing in their own language. I am not too keen on this genre, so I am exposing them only for the sake of sharing with those willing to dig on slovakian activities. HATROSS(Pan) - Death Cult Demo 2010, wavs. This is a panamenian Death Metal with thrash metal spices. Their sound is not too classic but transports you to the early 2000s sound with those digital pedals in guitars, their guitar-distortion is close to what modern Grindcore/Goregrind projects sometimes use, and I must say that contemporary projects from Uruguay were using the same for Death Metal, I kind of recognize that sound. Swedish Death Metal influences seem to be the most notorious here if I am not wrong, bass sound and the approaches on drumming are the key to identify this. Not knowing tons of projects from this country, this seems to be a good catch. This is another project of JR Sucre who was in bands like AGGRESSOR(Pan) , later ENSLAVER(Pan) , ABATUAR(Pan) , ANTUMNIA(Pan) and ABERRANTE(Pan) , this old bastard seems dedicated, doesn't he? HATROSS(Pan) - Vengeance of Evil 2015, wavs. The radical change on the guitar distortion makes them close to noise projects, but the ideas seems to be the same. May be more CARCASS(UK) from their early career, some NAPALM DEATH(UK) and BOLT THROWER(UK) . Seems not too good in terms of sound but you easily gets used to it and everything ends up being just where it has to. This includes a killer cover from "Total Extermination" by AGGRESSOR(Pan) , this version is not better than the original but is really killer too, mostly because vocals are wicked. Believe it or not, the last live tracks are the best and is totally in the early BOLT THROWER(UK) vein "Infernal Massacre" & "Death Cult" and vocals are excellent. Thank you so much again Raúl for these recordings! GENITAL NECROSIS(Gre) - #1 (1989) , fanzine from Greece done by sakis from ROTTING CHRIST(Gre) . This is hell of a complete fanzine with tons of information, quite lengthy with a, friendly attitude let's say, or innocent. I would compare its importance to their local scene with: BLOWING THRASH(Chl) , SATANIC DEATH(Jpn) , BLACK THORN(Dnk) or SLAYER(Nor) , due to the amount of exposed names from the whole fukin globe . Has a band's review/biography section which is quite good , short but good interview with bill steer from CARCASS(UK) , one short but good with nicke from NIHILIST(Swe) , short and good one with peter from VADER(Pol) , poor answered int with chris form AUTOPSY(US) seems he was not in the mood for sharing words, what an asshole... short and good CADAVER(Nor) int , good and short with CADAVERIZER(UK) , really good and interesting int with an unknown belgian project to me, DAMAGED CORPSE(Bel) , a weak int with NUN SLAUGHTER(US) , funny one with MERCILESS(Swe) , short but good SADISTIC NOISE(Gre) (this reminded me to you Pablo nekroperverter for your recommendation, I still haven't taken it, but will, as soon as I have the time to dig into something new! cheers! ) , short and acceptable int with DECIMATION(US) did not know this project pre VIOLENCE(US) , will check it too, the same words goes for the OBITUARY(US) int, too short but good TOXODEATH(Mex) int with raul , funny one with ASPHYX(Hol) , shorty with GRAVE(Hol) , shorty but good DAMNED CROSS(Mex) int, good one with OLD(US) , short but good HELLBASTARD(UK) , the same for IMMOLATION(US) pre-90s death metal existence so it's quite interesting the point of view of doing something different at the time, good int w/ DREAD(Sng) , one with BLACK SATAN(Swe) where LG petrov took place too, I have never listened to this, still on my wishlist. A NAUSEA(Jpn) int, had no idea about another NAUSEA honestly... good short one with MORTEM(Nor) , good one with REGURGITATION(US) , another good short one with DISHARMONIC ORCHESTRA(Aut) , great short one with NOCTURNUS(US) 's mike , the same goes for ACHERON(US) 's vincent ... in the end all the ints are short not boring but not too in depth either, they are ok to expose monickers and opinion/attitudes towards the underground scenes and their ideas in general terms, all questions do not vary too much but are not bad either, somehow expected for that period of time, answers quite suck from time to time, I believe this is the ignorance of unknowing the effor required to publish a fukin fanzine by some of the interviewees... Some promos are added among ints , there are some Chilean ones, besides comments on Braizlian scene, you can realise the impact by this other south amerikan country, and the last chapter is a pile of reviews. Highly recommended to re-read about some of the best underground bands from the real frame of time.
Let's this span of time called year, to fukin die out. But not without vomits: METRALION(Bra) - Quo Vadis 1988, RE 2022 double CD by Dies Irae. Got to know this project through the fanzine "A mosh in Brazil" , thanks to my friend Felipe CDC (greetings my friend!) , because of its name of course, remarked by my friend Victor SOS, never got hooked by them when checked that EP. Years later, I came across with my friend Ader (Dies Irae) and throw this to me. This is a Thrash metal act in the same vein of bands like DORSAL ATLANTICA(BRA) and MUTILATOR(Bra) , KORZUS(Bra) could also be referenced due to SLAYER(US) -ish riffs. Some solos seem to have inspired ANGKOR VAT(Ury) , check "Porcos da lei" track on the slow part, and riffs too, "Herois de guerra" begins as if it were them. In the end, the SLAYER influences are there and once again I can refer to SS(Ven) . This recording is much better than the aformentioned EP but is not that remarkable, is a good dosis of brazilian Thrash Metal but better albums were being released during those times in my opinion. This double CD includes their demo from 1987 entitled "Tiranos" and is on the very same line, little lower quality but the music is equal, may be better screams here and there. For those looking for brazilian Thrash Metal, this is good to know but do not expect something better than what you already know. Or may be, if you are in loved with portuguese-sung tracks, this will suit your dirty desires for sure. CADAVER(Nor) - Abnormal Deformity Demo 1989, dubbed. 6 tracks of Death Metal in the mixture of UK-Sweden scenes. You can easily recognize intentions from bands like HETSHEADS(Swe) , AFFLICTED(Swe) , SUFFER(Swe) and CARCASS(UK) , BOLT THROWER(UK) with a deathrash environment despite counting on more blastbeats and groove than the early deathrash metal classics, I even thought of "Impulse to destroy" album by BLOOD(Ger) . Although this is a typical approach for the 90s DM bands, this demo comes with that extra lower quality and thrash metal aspects, even with its chaotic vocals, that makes it a perfect candidate for anyone curious on the norwegian scene. Recommended for those unknowing them. CADAVER(Nor) - Hallucinating Axiety album 1990, dubbed. Well, this is a classic recording, the production is what made this band more appealing to those needing cleaner sound than what you can find on their previous recordings (which are neat in my opinion, fuk avoiders of demos) . Beginning with that intro mimicking , I suppose, flies over mutilated corpses, entitled "Tuba". Then jumps into "Ignominous Ezcema" with a sempithernal looping riff which ressembles to technical deathmetal ideas used by DEMILICH(Fin) , accompanied by a little doomier riffs in the vein of "Mindwarp" by DEATH COURIER(Ger) , if you were used to their demo sound, the ripping vocals are now deeper, sadly that chaotic innocence was somehow lost. "Corrosive Delirium" was part of their demo and is here again, cleaner, you will recognize that influences metioned above, is also followed by "Erosive Fester" giving space for the omonimous track "Hallucinating Anxiety" in that NIHILIST(Swe) vein with blasts and those riffs used also on the first track, you can also perceive the AUTOPSY(US) influences when on hammerish-doomish riffs , and now I realised the guitars seem inspired by what you find on OLD FUNERAL(Nor) 's "Abduction of limbs" demo. I haven't listened to this recoring for quite a long time and is the first time I realise this ha! "Cannibalistic Dissection" also comes from the previous demo, here you find SLAYER(US) influences on the closing riff. "Hypertrphyan" kills A-side with a summarize on their dyanamism for varied compositions inspired by different corners of extreme metal. On the other side of that other side, "Petrifyed Faces" keeps the swedish-american DM line followed by "Innominate" fuk I heard that riff somewhere else... then again falling into DEMILICH-ish approach. And this pile of tracks; "Twisted Collapse" , "Abnormal Deformity" also from the demo, "Maelstorm" , "Mental Abherrance", "Bodily Trauma" don't allow me to add anything else because the whole recording is pretty tight on its ways of playing a techcnial Death metal. To sum up, a great and solid Death Metal recording for fans of the early 90s DM. WHITE HELL(Jpn) - Lucifer EP 1985, mp3-CDR. A VENOM(UK) - MOTORHEAD(UK) worship mixed with BLACK SABBATH(UK) is what you get on their three tracks "Lucifer" , "Nuclear" and "White Hell" . It's always good to know projects from this country but this won't impress you more than what you can find out there during that period of time. Also in my wishlist to get rid of this mp3. Get in touch! SALEM(Isr) - Destruction till Death 1987, mp3-CDR. I think BESTIAL DEATH(Isr) is the only band I know from there and fukin love it, this demo is much more privimitive than the "Suicide of the Immortals" but as the artwork of that demo was created by one of SALEM's members (as far as I remember) , I always wanted to get their demos before their change in direction. It was never possible so ended up with this CDR. If you remember POISON(Ger) 's early demos (like "Sons of evil" and rehearsals) with hell of a crude soundings, well this is in that vein, besides the fact that was recorded live. Recommended for curious archeodeathrashers, write to me in case of having the other demos on real format too please. MORTUARY(Ser) - Infected by Pollution demo 1991. Four tracks of SEPULTURA(Bra) worship in a very 80s-early-90s Chilean way, here the inspirations come mainly from "Schizophrenia" album plus SLAYER(US) 's "Reign in Blood" . This includes "Psychotic Genocide" with ripping vox and sharp axes starting as if it were "Angel of Death", "Mortuary of Souls" which seems to be their hit, indeed a pretty killer track, "Infected by Pollution" reminded me of POSSESSED(US) too at "Beyond the gates" era, for instance "March to die", and "No sense... for romance", a title that took me to "No time for romance" on 70s DISCHARGE(UK) 's recordings he he, musically speaking, keeps the same vibe but instrumentally. This demo is great for knowing what was happening there during this period of time MORTUARY(Ser) - Dismembered Illusions demo 1991. Six more tracks in the very same vein with brighter sound, like a good rehearsal recording, but drums sound better on their previous demo, may be the production was better before. And now they are much more into the brazilian way, probably an step forward to their aim. I can link this recording, starting with their "Infected Pollution" track with the evil EXORCIST(Pol) , vocals are a little bit deeper than before but still deathrashy. This was recorded just four months after their first deadly intent. The omonimous "Dismembered Illusions" begins ala POSSESSED(US) again but with blasts then into tremolos ala SEPULTURA(Bra) , the classical brazilian-touching-the-black-skies-harmonics coming from Jairo's ways of axe-destruction are present here subtly, and I really like that. Their hit "Mortuary of souls" is found even darker here thanks to vox, I think I was wrong claiming this double-guitar arrangements are from SEPULTURA but come more from SLAYER(US) grounds, I can think of TERMINATOR(Cze) demo era and I believe KRABATHOR(Cze) demo era too. "Psychotic Genocide" re-recorded here too, also made me think this time on VIOLENT FORCE(Ger) , as you can see, they were discovering death metal realms within their thrash metal heads, that's what made deathrash so great! "No sense... for romance" again re-played here too. "Promises of merciless" kill this demo, with riffs ala POSSESED mixed with SEPULTURA which made me think in a couple of projects from these times, like SCHIZOPHRENIC DEATH(Ury) and DEATHLY SCYTHE(Chl) , mostly the second one on their mighty "Will of Death" demo era, and by transitivity specificly in vox, also the chilean influences from SADISM(Chl) , this track introduced a pretty melodic arrangement fukin the whole experience haha... luckily comes back to restore their agression. Anyway this is indeed a great demo. MORTUARY(Ser) - Void demo 1992, but was recorded in 91, five months after their second one, yes, seems these guys were pretty active during '91 ha! The progression towards Death Metal was expected, their main influence, as far as I can say, is NAPALM DEATH(UK) . On their first attack "Cause of Subsistence" you encounter those deep growls and dark passages from north-american DM from the 90s that were not present yet on them before, "Affected Sufferance" continues, and they introduced somehow those arrangements ala swedish DM with a mixture of what they did before, also swedish-mid-tempo drumming with crunching-thrash from brazil. Anyway, those sharp tremolos also made me think of some finnish DM, I am not sure, my memory could have played tricks on me, but I think of DEMIGOD(Fin) . "Storm" includes a riff from "Maze of Torment" by MORBID ANGEL(US) mixing the brazilian aspects too, falls into some swedish cuts again then SLAYER(US) ... "Void" finish this, I think this demo is just bands on a blender, quite a pitty they lost it here, and I ended up disliking what was done on the vocals direction. This has some good tracks and feeling but I don't recomend this demo. MORTUARY(Ser) - Unspoken demo 1994. Begins with "Corridors of banishment" , the starting solo with that notes come from AUTOPSY(US) with no doubt, "Mental funeral" era, the groove parts are not my favorites but for the sake of death, they put tremolos in the very vein of NAPALM DEATH(UK) , "Harmony Corruption" era. Vocals are better now, not that forced. "Massacrated Ego" has great solos expanding the almost-swedish DM vein around those groove parts. The guitar tune is just like the aforementioned ND album and screams too. "Mortgage upon Epitaph" seems to have some SLAYER(US) 's "Reign in Blood" influences, again, great solo work mixed with "Beneath the Remains" ideas. "Inwardly Voices" is like "Suffer the Children" from "Harmony Corrpution" album too, the same ideas on their track "Injected into Subconcious" and lastly, their "Outro". This demo is much better than the previous one, may be more mature and totally in the death metal grounds, but doesn't expose too much original ideas, they fell into the trend of the time as far as I can realise. All these MORTUARY demos were reissued by Grom Records and Darzamadicus Records on a CD, entitled "Final Mortuary of Souls". Ignore the last crap-track re-recorded in 2006, that kind of garbage should not be allowed to be released. As stated before, first two demos kill, the insert is short and simple but well done with no lyrics and few pictures, so you definitely should get this compilation to step over this hidden serbian realms. FACES OF DEGRADATION(Chl) - #1 (1992) , A chilean fanzine involved in the 90s scene.
