I am quite obssessed by some historic facts about bands and guitar players. For instance, as I am a fuker who tries to play the guitar, it's almost impossible to avoid guitarrist who happened to be guitar heros of all times. I love the insane guitars by STEVE VAI(US) , JOE SATRIANI(US) and some others who kill beyond killness. One of those beloved ones died a couple of years ago, for me he was the best, not only because was an extreme guitar player but also because was humble and kept himself with a low profile despite being the king of the surf guitar, yes, I am talking about DICK DALE(US), may your ashes become part of this cosmos my pal. Why am I mentioning all this crap? Because I bought some CDs I was missing from SATRIANI and I thought it could be funny to mention them. For instance, is unbelievable the similarities in some compositions taken from decades ago. CHUCK BERRY(US) 's riffing for instance, I always knew he was damned important but never care about that, then I suddenly came across with an compilation of his works that blew my mind in some ways, because I could identify lots of riffs later used by THE KINKS(UK) ! Yeah man, "Cadillac" track has his riffs, "Too much monkey business" too and plenty of others. Then I remember also that the huge DUANE EDDY(US) had an impact too on DICK DALE, a pretty obscure blues I may say, if you check blues of course. And for instance, you also have LINK WRAY(US) 's "Black Widow" riffs in METALLICA(US) 's "The Four Horsemen", I have never read about this kind of influence ever, may be I am a total ignorant, but I love the fact of finding this kind of crafting-riffing insanity. Not long ago I mentioned TED NUGENT(US) 's influence on MERCYFUL FATE(Dnk) 's HANK SHERMANN, sadly this mongolid US patriotic fuker who is too traditional to be a hero, he did his thing anyway to be a guitar legend. But don't buy his crap, he is just a fukin stupid, I could compare him with Tramp ! HAHA! I am trying to remember some others but for now I think that's it. JEFF BECK(US) is the last I guess, this is a total guitar hero... Ohh! Don't forget the fukin FRANK ZAPPA(US) ! I fukin love Hot Rats album!!! STEVE VAI was his aprentice! UHFFF I just remember the KENNY WAYNE SHEPHARD(US) with his "Ledbetter Heights" album which I don't have sadly! Totally influenced by STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN(US)... Well, the thing was that... history is history, some little details may drive you to get into realms of the unknown! wrote quite fast fast fast because I have been manicly anxious with my job and little spare time but one manages to write, read, fuk, drink and DEATH DEATH DEATH DEATH!!!! CONVULSE(FIN) - World without God 1991 LP, I traded this bootleg tape with a guy in Paraguay when I was there, the name was always around my head but never checked the band, I kind of lost interest in Death Metal in its so-called pure form, there are bands that to me, they sound all the same, same guitars, same tunning, same drumming,etc,etc... I haven't been listening to much 90's DM if you read this page, you may have already noticed that I'm totally into deathrash, the best music in the planet of course. This album is just one of those albums, probably good back then, because sounds perfect, the music is extremely well done, the vocals are good and they are from Finland, but anyway, to me, they are not that good... quite generic indeed, sounds like OBITUARY(US) , DEATH(US), BENEDICTION(UK), DEMIGOD(Fin) among some others and I kind of get bored easily with this. It moves me at some points where I say "Hey man this is good" but honestly, it is good but because it comes from somewhere else back at the time... This is going to be in my list for trading because is where it belongs in my opinion. NECROCHAKAL(Gre) - Trampling the Holy Gospels EP 2016, I got this tape as soon as It went out through Escafismos Records, my friend Edin's label, only checking first track you could think is a typical Black/Death Metal act but is not, just the second track "Defile the name of Christ" is pure Blackened Death/Thrash Metal, funny because I had forgotten this fuker at the vocals screamed "HIJO DE PUTA" (son of a bitch in Spanish), Ha ha Babis was a really funny guy! Hahahaha, in fact his vocals are pretty agressive and give the best for the tracks, some riffs reminded me of a primitive Brazilian Thrash metal mixed with more European acts like AURA NOIR(NOR) , my favourite tracks are all but the first one. Recommended tape if you see it around. D.V.C.(US) - Constrictus Mortum demo 1989, this is and advance demo for their following LP (which I haven't checked yet), this is a well played demo, sounds great ( I traded it again because my tape sucked badly ). The characters in the monicker mean "Darth Vader's Church", what a childish name ah? HA HA. Anyway, the music will rip you appart instantly, it has some rare groove to compare with another bands, vocals are grotesquely insane and the picked distorion for guitars plus bass make a great combination for what you hear. Some feeling in the music make me think of them as if they were kind of progressive but in the end they are not really that, is a well done Death Metal approach with some good creativity which puts them as an original band I must say, I will have to check their LP but I am scared they fuked it all up with that release Ha ha, at some point I think it is a cult band because that LP was done by Wild Rags and some friends already mentioned me this project, but ... who knows? I must check it. This adv. demo at least, if it is exactly this on an LP I wouldn't doubt on getting it! ANARCHUS(MEX) - Total Hate demo 1988, this surprised me in terms of audio quality, because since I read the Mexican Underground Metal 1984-1994 fanzine, I was quite expecting awful sound but this demo sounds really good just like a quite well recorded rehearsal but really good, bass is really in the front and kicks your face, the primitive stuff is in guitars because the mid-distortion gives a really raw sounding. This demo is great, I did not understand the tracklist, "Antichrist" from SEPULTURA(Bra) is included as a cover before the two last tracks but not listed HA HA! a really raw version of it I must say. This band totally reminds me of DEATH YELL(Chl) 's "Confessions after Death" because its vocal tune in each fukin track. I would say this demo is more Death Metal than what was done in "Final Fall of the Gods" EP. One should get this demo right away because is marvellous. ANARCHUS(MEX) - Final fall of the Gods EP 1990, this EP was a huge kick for the mexican underground, an excelent quality noisy death metal grindcore attack. Still cannot avoid DEATH YELL(Chl) but this is less DM in some ways. First time I listened to this honestly I didn't enjoy the vocalist... but this EP deserves to be checked regulary before being disposed off, you won't regret it, it is violent violent violent!! When I say this EP was important, it really was, after recording the audio this was mastered by Morrisound Studios, and it was possible for them to play in USA which was "a big deal back then" - Info taken from Mexican Underground Metal fanzine 1984-1994. TOXODETH(MEX) - Phantasm Demo #2 1988, how the fuk a label could not be willing to release such a powerful band at that time, this demo sounds awesome fukin chaos terrifik fukk!!! This is the first time I listen to this fukin masterpiece of the mexican lands! ARGHH What I have been missing for such a long time! "Splendor Dead" opens this insanity and the vocals totally blew my brains out of this cosmos, the vocals have nothing to do with what got recorded for the LP. Then "Doom Predictions" follows, all these tracks are much more Deathrash with less highly skilled guitars ala neoclassical stuff, honestly this is much better than the LP, may be I am being tough with the LP but sounds even better! HA HA, vocals are in the growling parts of AGGRESSION(CAN) and DECEASED(US), sorry to repeat myself all the time with Kingsly Follwey he he. Guitar tune reminded me a little bit of TORMENTOR(MEX) but not that sharp, improved I believe. OH men this is all fukin great, a total MUST!!! Fast as fuk!! DEATHRASH! TOXODETH(MEX) - Splendor Dead Demo #1 1987 - The first demo from these corpses from beyond. Well this demo is a rawer version of everything I have listen from them, the guitar now is sharp as fuk and drums are lower, anyway killer for the time too, it only has two tracks "Exploiting" and "Prefering the Dark", vocals are again really well achieved with an awful English in some parts that in my mind make this even more special, this time was spectacular for the band, two consecutive years releasing masterpieces for the Mexican underground metal history, totally above my expectations. I checked MA and these two demos plus rare shit from '86 were included in some compilation, something anyone should write down to get sooner or later! DAMNED CROSS(MEX) - Excecration of infected corpses 1989 demo, well this is a extremely primivite recording, the music is not, sadly its quality makes it quite impossible to make their name remarkable in the history of metal. They were probably more huge locally than what could be achieved through tape trading at the time. The drummer is really sick, one can listen to really fast blasts and guitar tune and way of riffing takes you to Brazil, VULCANO(Bra) and 1986 SEPULTURA(Bra) 's rehearsal ring the bell, and again, I cannot avoid mentioning TORMENTOR(Mex). If you are patient enough to dig in the lack-of-quality recordings you will be really able to enjoy this demo and vocalist has something from ANARCHUS(Mex) if I am willing to mention another local mexican attack. KAOS (US) - A brief comment about these lunatics again, I kept listening to this and vocals reminded me a lot to EVERSOR(Ita) and also RANDAGI(Ita), this vocalist must have something from Italy in his roots!! MORTEM(NOR) - Slow Death demo 1989, Insane noise from this lands when Black Metal was yet to explode. This is total Death Metal with some thrash parts, in my opinion influenced by MAYHEM's Deathcrush LP. Vocals are weird though... I am not sure if it is because are full of effects or because it is a noisy recording, anyway the music is good. Listened to them long time ago when I was getting into bands like OLD FUNERAL(Nor), MAYHEM(Nor) and AMPUTATION(Nor), but honestly I forgot them due not to having anything physical, now I dubbed a tape with a tape rip so hopefully that will not happend again, may be yes because of alcohol but don't care, feels great this right now with a cold beer in hand! TORCHURE(GER) - Traces demo 1991, Death Metal with vocals trying to immitate David Vincent's tune and way of singing, at least in the first track, guitars are quite good, I kind of forgot them too... The only band I do remember enjoying from this country in this realm is ETERNAL DIRGE(Ger), but this is not bad at all, I think it shares some stuff with that project and also with ASSORTED HEAP(Ger) (of course this one is more thrashy). "Genocidal Confessions" the second track, first riff reminded me of MERCILESS(Swe) / SLAYER(US), but is not in that line afterwards but has that NIHILIST(Swe) vibe from the swedish scene mixed with a MORBID ANGEL(US) 's aura, the cuts at the middle of the tracks really annoyed me. The artwork reminded me a little bit of Dark is the Season EP from english deathmetallers BENEDICITON(UK). Mmmmm... what to say, vocals sound to me really forced and the keyboards in the first track on side B are out of phase? don't know... bored me. I will have to get their previous stuff just for comparisson. RUSSIAN WINTER(Svn) - A Sign demo 1985 , this is totally a sign of amateurism, not what I was expecting at all. Years looking for it but does not shine at all. Not recommended. ORDER FROM CHAOS(US) - Will to Power 1990 EP, this is a tape I have around for quite a long time... never really cared about it but as I was trying to organize my stuff I ended up listening to it, is a three track tape, pretty intense and raw, I liked it quite a lot, it reminded me of ANGELCORPSE(US) but not that fast, for me ANGELCORPSE was a Blackened version of MORBID ANGEL(US), this has something from ANGELCORPSE because of the vocalist, but music has lots of Hardcore vibes... is a pretty interesting and obscure EP. "Nucleosynthesis" and "Megalomania" are just wonderful tracks. Enjoy violently! I also happened to check their first LP entitled "Stillbirth Machine" from 1992, not bad, seems they developed their skills, some armonics in guitars done with whammy bar are outstanding but I got bored with it anyway. What really drew my attention is that this LP starts exactly just like my own first LP from Pheretrum with the Space Odysey 2001 intro, I was shocked really. I feel kind of embarrased now. If you are into a slower version of ANGELCORPSE this LP will totally suit your tastes. MASSACRE(US) - Aggressive Tyrant 1986, this was a huge band in the underground, commented around fanzines and such because counting on MANTA(US) 's DEATH(US) 's Kam Lee, and little later also Rick Rozz. This demo Rick is not there, a thing that really drew my attention since I thought he was right from the beginning. It has been quite a while since the last time I listen to these recordings, I've never had the chance to get the CD with these. Anyway, I got my dubbed tape now with it and is a fantastic demo, "Death in hell" is a shitty track but the two well known "Aggressive Tyrant" and "Mutilated" are fantastic. On the B side I put "Chamber of ages" demo from 1986 too now yes with Rick Rozz, the difference is kind of huge but not only because of him but Bill Andrew skills are hellish here with much more thrashy doble kicks. This is a kind of preview of what they did on "From Beyond" LP but honestly, this sounds much much more enjoyable, "From Beyond" has that too clean/perfect sound were drums are just like plastic, typical 90's sound, I think one must invest years listening to metal music to realise things like this, at the beginning I remember not noticing these facts but I remember reading on fanzines the critics, and now I can say it is indeed true. These two demos are marvellous! Raw sound for extreme music is just a must, no doubt about it! Something else to mention, vocals are much better too mostly because its uncompromised highpitched insane screams. HELLAVENGER(Chl) - PROMO MMXXI 2021 tape, this is one of those wonderful things you receive when you are into trading, When I first got the first demo from this manic beast, I was totally absorved by the artwork, because the art seemed to have at least two versions, The one I got stated "Underground tape trading version" , man I was insane by that, with the now well known logo by "The Iron Legion". This time I am part of the official distribution version, which I am doing by myself with my Extreme Resurrection label, and the art has a wonderful blank space for label logo which makes it excellent for this purpose. So if you are an Uruguayan fuker out there, don't hesitate on requesting your copy, is TDK+artwork really cheap to cover costs no more than that. And regarding this wonderful tape, when you first start listening to it, you get the idea that this is coming from a Black Metal background, the first riffs are in that vein and vocals are almost identical to what Benja's (GLORIFICATION(Par)) did in their LP, but suddenly this takes a huge twist into more Thrash/Black with almost clean vocals (not the awful ones, "Consecration of Doom" track gives you an amazing idea of what the power of this voice is all about!) which takes you to what TOM G. once did, and the touch of black metal and thrash mixed together, in this recordings is just that, a fukin astonishing mixture, I can't avoid thinking of other acts from nowadays like NOCTURNAL(GER), CRUEL FORCE(Ger). Everyone active in the obscures ways of metal already know Chile has been delivering acts of impressive quality, not only in music sound, compositions, etc but also it's easy to realise people involved in projects like this, know about the ancient ways and the proper knowledge allow them to release such a good music. This is nothing more than another killer recording from a band that has an spectacular future for releasing an EP and/or LP! Thanks my friend for the trust put on my label for distribution! Not the first but not the last time either! Long live the Iron Legions, together as one psycholunatic beast of blasting insane underground metal!!! EXTREME RESURRECTION issues #1-#4 already out, get in touch for buying it. It is US$3 plus shipping. ANTITHEIST AGGRESSION (Ury) - I released in CDR my own solo-project, I don't know how to label it but could be something between Heavy Metal and Thrash Metal totally out of tempo and ugly bad played, etc, nothing remarkable, It was recorded in 2014 and I wanted to finish it before I die so I recorded drums weeks ago and put it out. This is only distributed by request, I won't add this on my label's catalogue so if you think could be interested, send me an email.
