PROTECTED ILLUSION (FIN) - Festering Fairytales LP 1990, finally I got some decent audio from this release. This has nothing to do with the classical Finish DM you could be used to. This is CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER(US) with a more thrash metal approach including some technical twists. Some funny samples reminded me of MEFISTO (SWE) and also some guitar tunes/vocals to INVOKATOR(DNK), SADUS (US) and even LEPROSY(SWE); I need to get their previous shit because I bet those are killer too! B Side starts more DM because its first track has blast beat and much more tremolo and even the next one is more into SADUS (US), well also INVOKATOR(DNK) because of the way it is done he he... also some ATHEIST (US) , give them a try and check it for yourself! In the end a killer fast and technical Thrash Metal band coming from Finland, you must check it! INFERNAL DEATH (US) - Incantations of the Gates Demo 1989, when starting with "The Rites Of The Ensnarer", you cannot think in anything more than "Chemical Warfare", but the outstanding vocals are violent and obscure into the Death Metal vein, then the middle distortion of the next riff reminded me of TREBLINKA (SWE). The second track is the demo title "Incantation Of The Gates", "primitive" word makes the click here, mostly because of its simple solos but not bad at all, just suitable for the expression of the band, sadly this one is instrumental, but good one anyway. Gets followed by "Take Me To Hell" and damn! DESECRATION (US) rings the bell here, check the vocals! To conclude this 4 track demo "Satan's Metal" which has an spectacular funny name also makes me think of DESECRATION he he, but is not that fast, is mor heavy and Thrash, less professional but kills anyway. I took this name from "Spain is Different" fanzine, I thought I could get something similar to DEATH(US) but hell no, you should definately check this project if you are into raw obscure and violent Thrash Metal with a little death metal coming mostly due to vocals. VOMITOR (AUS) - Roar of War demo 1999, even though I already wrote in the previous post about them, I think I did it too fast and few more listenings made me realise some spectacular facts regarding their influences, I still think they are ala AGGRESSOR(FRA) but most of their riffs I think are coming also from a similar band but from their own country as INCUBUS(AUS) is and also to SLAUGHTER LORD(AUS), check the thrashing riffs, those are the ones I mean, besides I ended up realising that the vocals are ala Mike Browning while he was part of MORBID ANGEL(US), these few comments I think complete in a proper way the review done before. n joy! SLASHING DEATH(POL) - OFF 2019 compilation by SelfMadeGod Records, this compilation include three of their demos from 1988 to 1990, starting with the newest one "Kill me cause I can't stop" which is a kind of Deathrash/Grindcore not that good but fast as fuk, this is what you get with this ancient polish band. Their second demo is entitled "Irrevocably and with no Hope" from 1989, begins with an acoustic guitar intro where in the background you hear bullets and then blows you off with a super fast track named "Apocalyptic" with really violent vocals, this band was extreme as fuk. Follows with "Blasphemy" also fukin fast, great efffects on vocals, total grindcore thrashing death. "The story of necrophile" is weird as hell, starts pretty good then is like rap then fast again, not my kind of beer. "Deadness" is back to what they were doing before, fast fast fast. This closes with "No return" ala NAPALM DEATH(UK) kind of sound but with more Thrash Metal invovled, except for that rap, all tracks are great. With this demo, one could say it's a mixture among WEHRMACHT(US),NAPALM DEATH(UK) and LETHAL AGGRESSION(US). Then what I was expecting to listen, their first 1988 demo "Deathly Ceremonic", that starts with "Ceremony of Death" they were always fuking fast, this one has less quality than the others of course... and I could hear some mistakes in the digitalization process, these are around the whole demo, shit. "The Pain" is the second attack, interesting and original project. "Heart of virgin" has a great strating riff then more deathrash fast as shit and cuts with some slower parts ala NOCTURNUS(US), reminded me of "Before Christ/After Death" track and finished ultra fast again. "Quick Death" is great and ends with "Satans Appeart" which is a kind of SLAYER(US) mixed with DEATH(US) and then changes a little bit and gets thrashy as fuk. Some fast ideas and sounds could be comparable with the fastest tracks of DISTRESS(Yug) too. DRENCROM(CHL) - Permanent Living Death 2019 CD, by Deathrash Armageddon, this album was sent to me by Yuki himself once we exchanged some letters, as far as I know it got released on LP but included the same album on CD, weird release in my opinion. I have no information regarding this because I only possess the CD itself with no artwork, etc. This band was something I found on Blasphemer fanznine from Chile on a pretty small flyer somewhere on it, traded with the guys and got their previous demo Compilation which was fantastic. This is the clear progression of the band in terms of speed, production and ideas. Even though they were already fukin great they pushed themselves further. This one starts with an instrumental track not too good with some awful scale on tremolo riffs that could prevent you from keep listening to the whole album but then you get the explosive frenzy on forthcoming tracks that undoubtly kill. If you are into Deathrash, well, this is definately for you because is fukin fast and If you already knew their staff, some tracks were re-recorded as I could recognize tracks like "Sexomania" and "Make her Suffer", and some other too. I totally forgot I had this one until I received and email with it from my friend mediocridad, so I thought it was good to look around and take it back into my CD player. I also think this was released on tape so it could be good to get it also on that format somewhere in time. You won't be disappointed, speed asured and vocals are insane! SPECTRAL BIRTH (AUS) - Raze 1990 MLP by HMH Recs RE 2019, this spectacular recording I think needs no introduction, those seeking for ferocity in the kangooro's lands must know these guys for sure and mostly because you probably heard of them while digging the marvellous deathrash provided by them when they were under the name of INCUBUS (AUS) . This mindblowing obscure thrash metal monster rises with one of their best tracks entitled "Incarceration" full of spectacular riffs but that applies to every track in here... "Bodies Crushed by Tanks" follows which is great and then an impressive instrumental track corrupted by a bag of corrosive riffs closes A side. Side B absorves you with another exquisite crushing track named "Yellow Tears", expressions in the voice, sharp as fuk guitars is what made them unique even though having few touches coming from SEPULTURA (BRA) or METALLICA (US). "Frog of Fear" (what a name ha? this one is for Bruno HA HA!) ends this underground gem. Those unknowing this one should do their homeworks, stop listening to trendy shit and/or composing garbage, this is the real thrash metal we all want, no more nor less. A total must. Thanks Thomas (LEP) for having this in your distro! I am adding their previous demo in my wishlist because I don't have it more than in a shitty mp3, so anyone that could help me out with that one would be terrific! INCUBUS (AUS) - Sinful Dreams 1987, not long ago finally got a copy of this huge mark in the underground history. It would have been incorrect not to say something about it if I just wrote about SPECTRAL BIRTH (AUS), well... this is more dark in terms of sound, but the compositions are superb as in their aforementioned MLP. "Demented Lust" is a fist into your eyes with a killer riff that punches you along the whole track. "Retribution" becomes even more sharp and krushes your teeth... then that kind of Rock thrashing dance also provided by bands like AGRESSOR (FRA) pops in, then back to the boundless emptiness of chaos with a great solo that exterminates the track. "Last Agonies" forces me to repeat myself with my adjectives because I have no more words to express what I feel when listening to these bunch of rusty sharpy and violent chords, sorry I am not Howard L. Ha Ha! I wish I could have seen this top guitarrist live, in some other dimension of time may be. The explosiveness concludes with "Passage of Souls: Sinful Dreams", begins with a kind of Jazz that reminded me of NN OPERA (URY) in the track named "Suite Magdelaine" (any uruguayan dinosaur out there, I think could not believe this kind of comparisson ah ?! and most of all... I know NN OPERA HA HA ! who does really remember them nowadays? ), afterwards becomes, as expected, into furious thrash metal culminating with some Bells as samples taking you to POSSESSED (US) in "Seven Churches". Not a demo to ignore for you diggers of the past. By the way, extensive info regaring both projects can be found in Wan's fanzine, Deadhead #6, I won't get tired of recommeding his archeology books HA HA ! Thank to my friend Pat for sharing this pure piece of macabre art with me! GRAF SPEE (URY) - Reincarnation 1989 tape & From the Black Ocean of Death ... Demos & rarities compilation tape 2021, my great friend Erik offered me to do this again, but in two different tapes, the result is fantastic. These are on pro-tape with spectacular sound, totally beats my previous release. Besides serigraphied tapes are amazing and this is done in that way. The only drawback I see is the insert which comes with a too sharped bending that could be broken after some weeks of extreme listenings he he, but the rest is amazing, I think during the last 10 years this band gain such a recognition abroad that needs no introduction, but if you are not familiar with this project, this is the best starting point, because is the best they achieved and also because it is pure Uruguayan style, it is really hard to compare bands to them but some could be CANCERBERO(ARG), AGRESSOR(BRA), DECADENCIA(ARG), some VULCANO(BRA) and BLACK SHEPHERD (BEL) , being this last one of the most similars I have ever listened to. Hugelly recommended, be fast or cry, because this is already being massively spreaded and there are not too much copies left, I still don't have mine for distro, but I will, so should not lose these ones. GRAF SPEE (URY) - Mother Fucker MLP 2021 by Zzooouhh, honestly I never thought this 12'' quality could have been made in Argentina, I think this release has been done with the best quality possible in South America, looks fantastic, the printing on the box is spectacular, the 12'' itself is black and fat with fantastic sound, comes with lyrics too. I am not too fan of this one but I would recommend it to you instantly being from the greatest beast of death metal, it does not disappoint at all. Little drawback here is that comes with a great kind of OBI with the promo of the tapes also available in this label (terrific idea), but it also has a short story of the band on its bottom with a font almost unreadable due to its size/background color. Anyway, the same as before, be fast or cry, this is limited and for the very first time on black wax! SPAIN IS DIFFERENT (Spa) #1 - This fanzine from 1990, I took it without permission from SPH (my old friend Carlos), sorry brother but you tempted me. I was never too interested in the Spanish scene more than the HC one (which I happened to check when I was a youngster listening bands like A PALO SEKO(SPA) and THE KAGAS(SPA) along with LA POLLA RECORDS(SPA) ) but I was never too much into it either, I walked my path throguh metal you know... I recognize few remarkable bands from this country and in my opinion NECROPHILIAC is the best one, but as I know too few, would be dishonest to claim there's nothing good or better. Anyway, NECROPHILIAC(SPA) is also named here as the best he he, besides it exposed some names I never heard of so I will be digging right there later, I was absorbed by the label "intense thrash metal" used for describing bands similar to RECIPIENTS OF DEATH(US), it fits perfectly the extremity he he. It has good interviews, short ones but precise. One interesting thing is that Dave Rotten participated here, I had no idea. The best on this fanzine is that they don't suck cocks from anyone, for instance, the review about DESEXULT(DNK) is extremely funny and the comments regarding BLACKTHORN fanzine are epic; and another review in the same vein is the one about MORTUARY DRAPE(ITA) which almost made me vomit my bowels while laughing. It counts more on reviews than interviews but is pretty great to read these guys, reviews are mostly from abroad which makes sense, they were trying to cultivate the underground culture locally (they mention local bands had huge lack of underground knowledge and that's why all sounded the same, said by themselves not me) but it counts on local reviews/interviews as well. I think they covered pretty good the worldwide scene for those years. I will have to knock some doors for requesting audios, old bastards be aware HA HA! DISPOSABLE UNDERGROUND (US) #4 from 1992, This one, as far as I remember, was one of the most creative fanzines I read, because interviews are most likely to be done to a drummer, or at least some of that happened in their previous issues I read, this one is also well done and comes with great and short DECEASED (US) interview when they were preparing the second LP downtuned to R and Kingsly totally hated it ha ha ha! Epic, you were right man! I don't know what else to remark on this issue, MYTHIC (US) which I happen not to enjoy because is slow, has a great short interview too. Another good one to revisit.
