"I was watching me, vaguely questioning my (in)sanity, you know, checking if the foot is still on the ground. In a blink of an eye, my left ear got shocked with that high-pitched buzzing noise out of nowhere, preasure on the brain is it called? my vision went darkened with those rainy braincells in the surface of my eyes, as if it was finally my time to leave this living grave. While recovering from this was not insant, I was thinking, where are all those great moments of my lethargic life appearing here and there like in the movies? Fell on the floor, hit my head, blood all over, I woke up when inhaling my vapouring red liquid, right bellow the sun rays. The smell differed from blood, fukk I shit myself I told me, cannot be... I was not drunk as far as I could remember, cannot be vomit, but may be I puked myself... still on the floor, I recollected the far-gathered solar energy from my body, as if I were a plant in photosynthesis process. Now on my feet... oh... I see, this is happening again... no recollections will appear as final living pictures... I was never born." by schizophedeath - entitled: Deceived. Once again in this trash hole... time will tell who are the ones really carved in hate, it choses you, cannot be faked; like it has always been, I will watch you all disappear, once again. The extension of my ears in my own regurgitated words: WITCHNIGHT(Arg) - Old Steel Breath 2022 CD, by Witches Brew. Within the very same style they practitioned before, their provided their simple but effective Black Thrash Metal. "Southern Warriors" is quite slow and incomplete at times, too little music while slow chords, as if the bass line is unable to fill the whole atmosphere and the vocals are little bit dull with good solo work, luckily the "Old Steel Breath" track has much more feeling put onto it, even the solo is fantastic, doubled vocals on few parts are excellent. "Revenge of the Vampire" is killer too, the vocal is more agressive which is healthy for the track, accompanied by some double-kick drum arrangements elevates the experience along with some keyboards that appeared totally unexpected, another excellent solo work. "Phantoms of the Crypt" follows, nothing to highlight, its solo is good though. "Tyranical Warlock" is a pretty killer track, coming from their reissue on CD "Unholy Speed Metal" , here is better. "Into the old Black Mountain" it's on the average with well done solos, cuts for an excellent classical guitar intro, quite witchy let's say, followed by winds of AURA NOIR(Nor) 's "Black Thrash Attack" then gets slower and fades out, weird. "Caligula" is pretty good too. "La mano Maldita" V8(Arg) cover was included here. It's great to see this band finally released their first album, somehow I feel it lacks of some aggression and power, may be I prefered them with more dirty sound or the clean production didn't help, I am not sure. Anyway this is a good release from a good band that keeps fighting in the underground. These tracks are into BATHORY(Swe), HELLHAMMER(Swi), RUNNING WILD(Ger), VENOM(UK), SODOM(Ger) and some other influences, so be ready to rock on! MORTAL SCEPTER(Fra) - Split w/ DETHRONED(Fra) LP by Dying Victims. I bought this ignoring the fact this was an Split. I had no clue this LP existed, when first saw it, in fact I thought this was their newest album; MORTAL SCEPTER ended up being one of those band you insantly buy whatever you see they release because they do excellent obscure Thrash Metal with energy and guts. This is their 2nd vinyl release, in the middle of their EP "As time sharpens sentence" and their LP "Where light suffocates" . I found this quite inmature despite being post-EP , not musically speaking but in terms of recording sessions. The side A includes "Punitive Expedition" which is well recorded and pretty nice track, not as killer as others but not bad, then "Perish with the Flesh" is here, which was also part of their LP, but sadly here it sounds as a rehearsal with different masterization from what you hear in the previous track, then closes "Left to Die" from DEATH(US) with excellent performance but again, the masterization differs from the previous tracks... so each track sounds completely different one from another... that quite sucks and I don't see the point on it. That really ruins the experience, I prefer a demo-sound totally uniform than this collection of three tracks mixed absolutely different... don't buy this vinyl, I don't know why the label wanted to release this that way, neither why the band opted for such an amateurish work being absolutely skilled and demonstrated in both of their other releases. Side B is for DETHRONED, another fast Thrash Metal. The strongly sharp screams reminded me of DEATHHAMMER(Nor) but I felt those quite overused on the chorus in "Night of the Sinner" , anyway they are skilled as fuk and the music has great energy, but is not too remarkable either... "Speed takeover" is a little bit better, then closes with a VIOLENT FORCE(Ger) cover "Sign of Evil" , it's okey but this project is not remarkable in my opinion, not fresh. MORTAL SCEPTER(Fra) - Demo 2014, dubbed tape. Four track-demo showing off what they were capable of. In retrospective you can see that their creativity on riffs was their highlight. Here is a much more mid-tempo approach not being that fast. "Satan's Arrival" opens this instrumentally. "Violent Revenge" , which appears later on their next EP reminded me of RADIATION(Svk) on their seven inches "Plutonium Overdose" . "Excecution Symphony" was also re-recorded later and in my opinion, this demo provides nothing more than an door for their future releases, which are much much much better, "expect no FUKINNN MERCY!!" . "Nuclear Armageddon" is quite the weird one here because has a different approach on melodies I guess, quite good but not remarkable, drum work is really good mostly while finishing, is it too METALLICA(US) -ish may be? So for those curious to check their beginnings, this is great, for those unknowing this project, well, take this before anything else for proper chronological joy. One of the best projects in the nowadays french lands. BLACK BEAST(Chl) - Endless Night on a dead Earth 2023 , by Trauma Records. Another great release from this label on digipack with pretty good design. This release is no more than 10 tracks of Death Metal in the very vein of the north american vein, think of SADISTIC INTENT(US) , POSSESSED(US) , some DEATH(US) and AUTOPSY(US) with some darkness coming from MORTEM(Per) and its intro ala "Bestial Devastation" . I always found funny the vocalist's way of self-repeating phrases, but ends up being quite effective to remember the tracks rapidly! The tracks are: "Invaders must die" great song followed by "The night is mine" with good screams, "Don't play with fire" PLAY WITH FIRE!! is pretty killer with lots of changes and arrangements, I found their ideas solid and dynamic here. Then "Metal, Magic, Freedom" , "Lex Talionis" which I remember was in their demo #2 tape, "Sign the contratct with eternal darkness" , "Nocturnal force" , "Fuck this world" with its starting note, just for an instant took me to MESSIAH(Swi) on "Total Maniac" , this is also coming from demo #2 and is a great track. The omonimous track was left for the final doom and its good but found it quite similar to "Metal, Magic, Freedom" on its chorus, anyway it's fukin good. I am not sure if it's their guitar distortion or the whole production, but I could not avoid thinking of HELLAVENGER(Chl) . This is highly recommended! Thanks pablo nekroperverter for this one! PROTECTED ILLUSTION(Fin) - Watching the Wake 2008 by Marquee Records. Finally I got this. I won't spare words on the album because I already reviewed it here. I won't spare words on the 1991 EP because is total modern crap (yes even for that time) . I am focusing on their "Opulence and Preservation Poverty and Desperation" demo from 1989, which has 8 tracks, for a demo is pretty lengthy, where you will find a couple of tracks later re-recorded for the album, "Greetings from Hell" and "Decadence" . On this demo you can appreciate a more simpler approach than what you are used to if you already checked their forthcoming releases, probably due to its production and the fast but not-hyper-fast drumming here, they were about to switch the drummer here on. The similarities among the bands I already mentioned before are also found here, but I would add ARMOROS(Can) which also happened to be re-released on a compilation but the very same label, now know why he he , and KREATOR(GER) which I think I had not mentioned before, precisely in "Irrevocable Decision" track. "Rap scappy Jou!" is just a joke track, made me think of "Pippi Lungstrumpf" or however that it's properly written, from AUTOPSIA(Ger) ha! Anyway, pretty killer demo with great sound. Secondly I am focusing on their EP "Swimming in the Moonlight" also from 1989 , now you get your furious deal with deathrashing insanity in the very vein of, as I stated before, SADUS(US) , INVOKATOR(Dnk) , ATHEIST(US) and also MERCILESS(Swe) , this is a fukin classic pre-their debut. Once again, I recommend you to dig into this super-fast-skilled-as-fuk-finnish thrashers. MORBORUS(Ury) - Metal on Metal Single 2024, yet unreleased but can be found on their bandcamp. This uruguayan speed metal commando recorded a top-quality single with a couple of tracks, the omonoimous plus "Hellish Night" . Both are amazingly creative, quite original and smart, in the very same vein they were before, despite some ugly sounds on drumming, and quite digital production, the whole is effective as fuk, the works on guitars and vocals are terrificly well done. This is a great kick in the face for a good back-into-activities since the project was one-man shit but now is a fully functional band, as it must be. The future for this project is bright. For those unknowing this, the brains behind it are the same from HEFESTO(Ury) but this seems to be an improved version of it, darker and more fierce. Hopefully they will be recording more stuff soon with their newest lineup. Total killer speed metal, CRUEL FORCE(Ger) is quite a good reference. Highly recommended! You can find their bandcamp link on their logo on the left side of this site. Greetings & beers fukulo! SACRED CRUCIFIX(Swe) - Demo 1987, bootleg tape. Starting with the great track "Brain Death" with midtempo and chaotic vocals you get the piece of unswedish deathrash metal with some slow cuts with some kind of blackened chords. "Beyond the Cross" also kills, with great double kicks on drums and excellent chorus. Closing with "Blessed Pilgrim" not bad, a couple of interesting tremolo riffs but not too remarkable honestly, but first two tracks are spectacular! SACRED CRUCIFIX(Swe) - Realms of Darkness 1989 demo, bootleg tape. Starting with a "The Fear", an intro in the very vein of "Recrucify" then you get "Requiem" track with a blackened DEATH(US) version ala "Infernal Death", the black vibe comes mainly from the vocalist and the approaches on slow parts including ambient keyboards. "Brain Death" is excellent and comes from their 1987 demo along with "Beyond the Cross", here you appreciate mostly the maturity on their sound, which of course was improved. Last track is the omonimous "Realm of Darkness", an excellent way to kill this release with its decadent and doomish parts. Another of those not-so-swedish recordings that deserves to shine. This was reissued by Ripping Storm Records on 3 CD volumes and also on LP, this is a really great opportunity for you to get this magnific demo! SACRED CRUCIFIX(Swe) - Demo 1990, bootleg tape. "Vlad the Stalker" track opens, deep in their style I may say, they developed a more solid blackened death thrash with their not that fast tempos but with arrangements and drums that flow accordingly. "Chosen one" appears with a boring and awful almmost-clean arpegio-guitar somehow melancholic to melt into the aforementioned state of mind, "13" keeps the mood, at some points reminded me of MORGOTH(Ger) on their "Cursed" album, "Deep in Unknown" and "Wise" are okey in that vein too, this last is like a recycled version of "Beyond the cross". This demo does not stand out more than their previous ones at all, but is a good demo. CURSE(Swe) - Ad Futuram Rei Memoriam demo 1989. By To the Death Records on 10''. As soon as you listen to the production, ideas and the vocals tune you won't be able not to link them to MEFISTO(Swe) , MORBID(Swe) and TREBLINKA(Swe) . "Morbid Death" is great, the first twisted riff took me to Сукина Дочь (Rus) , I knew I had listened to that somewhere before even knowing these russians but I could not recall it back then. Afterwards you get "Inner Memoir" then "Forbidden Prophecy" with a cut with keyboards, not as complex as the ones found on NOCTURNUS(US) but gets that environment. "Reign of regret" closes the short but effective demo. CURSE(Swe) - Integumentum de Tenebrae demo 1989. By To the Death Records on 10'' too. This demo is on the very same year and vein. "Beyond..." opens and has some ambient keyboards, pretty doomish, some obscure arrangements take them more into the Black Metal sphere but not totally, it's a little twist you can find on this whole demo. "Infernal Fate" seems to follow it with almost greek rythms, pretty weird voices where used here as details. "Subconscious Thought" probably the best track on this demo, faster with impressive starting riff with harmonics that kill, great changes can be found on it, as far as I can remember, this even reminds me to AFFLICTED CONVULSION(Swe) . "Theme Underground" is their last track, luckily in the same line, more strange screams who made me think of GOMORRAH(Ger) demos a little bit. All these was embraced by an intro and an outro. As you can realise, this is not better than their previous demo but not bad at all, for those who need to dig deeper in the un-swedish sound coming from Sweden, this will absolutely rip your guts. Thanks so much Rizal for your recommendation, we are indeed in the same tune regarding these sounds ha! MASTER FURY(US) - Hell Party 1988, classic US Thrash Metal in the vein of demons like DAMNAKLEEZ(US), BLOOD FEAST(US) , AT WAR(US) with a little twist that resembles to ANNIHILATOR(CAN) , I cannot avoid thinking of "Human Insecticide" track on some vibes, and checking those connections, Paul Baloff -ish kind of vocals are expected, after "hell party" intro you get "Crash" where you can hear what I wrote. This is an 8-tracks album that totally kills, short effective and skull crushing , in the background I can feel some punk attitude that I would say street thrash metal in the essence of DEATH STRIKE(US) , HELLBASTARD(UK) , perceivable on "Are all men blind" and "Time is Right" . "Flat against the wall" took me even to GROUND ZERO (Jpn) 's "Driven to the wall" , yes, I know it's different, may be the chorus pressed the tumors! and yes EXODUS(US) is also present. "Road Hog" is really speed with vocals quite Rock n Roll on the chorus, I think of ZOETROPE(US) here "Amnesty" LP era and RAVEN(UK) on "Rock until you Drop" era. "Riots in the Street" has something ala FEAR IRANIANS FROM HELL(US) on its chorus, those notes quite Surf Rock/Blues in the vein of DUANE EDDY(US) , impressive! Excellent release to thrash the unthrashable, thrash to kill! MASTER FURY(US) - Circle of Hate 1989, even though they kept being raw in their sound, music. They developed a little softer side that made me think of HEATHEN(US) , of course not that polished, but seems they were trying to achieve something a little bit different. In fact Don Rouze (bass) switched places for vox in this release with Luigi Frascella (guitar) . This is a more plain Thrash Metal that I would not remark as much as their first MLP , I found the omoniumous track is pretty killer . These couple of releases are to be found on a reissue by Contaminated Tones Productions in 2013 (I had no clue about it) , so if you see it around you know what you must! Thank mediocridad for sharing these ones! BLOOD ANGEL(Sgp) - In evil we trust demo 1992, shitty mp3. This band was introduced to me by my friend Victor SOS , and I instantly thought "fukkk... Metal Attack from Bolivia's main influece is this!!!" , despite the differences I clearly think of them on "Raw to the Core" track, if you don't believe me you are deaf! This demo is 6 tracks of pure fast deathrashcore/black metal bomb with few melodies here and there. The connection with ABHORRER(Sgp) is subtle, mainly in sound terms and few ideas. "The unholy god" is a fukin black hate vomit , "Death to posers" is restless anger and will take you to INSULTER(Bra) , "Raw to the Core" beginning sounds as if it were a track from SLOD(Yug) mutating into what I said regarding METAL ATTACK(Bol) , when I reviewed the bolivian insanebastards I mentioned "Deathcrush" MLP, so here, due to transitivity, I can appreciate the same vibe up to a certain extend. "C.O.V." comes with some loose notes quite HM-ish making it sound melodic but not awfully, until it falls into superfast brazilian aggression, which is kept during the next track "In evil we trust" , here I also feel some ressembles to CURRICULUM MORTIS(Per) mainly the sound recording used in the peruvian hardcore compilation named "Atropello" (probably the same in "Sentencia de Muerte" and due to the dubbing it has something little bit different and more noisy). "Regret" is the last track on this demo following the same tune, yeah, and vox took me to DEATH YELL(Chl) . Tracks are not too lenghty nor too short, and screamings are impressively sung as this was a Hardcore band, this exposes hate, real hate. I really liked this demo and now I know why it was shown to me. Recommended for archeodeathrashers! some trader out there with this one!? please send me an email! MALHAVOC(Can) - Age of the dark reinassence demo 1986, dubbed tape. Never heard of them before. The progression of this band is totally weird, the stuff released after this demo is awful and going more and more into the industrial ways of music, puaj!!! Well, to the point now, "Age of the dark reinassence" begins with a greatly obscure and horror-like environment, passing through a BLACK SABBATH(UK) -ish riffing to fall in some other dark notes, culminating this good intro, putting you in the mood. "Urbain Grandier" shows the more thrasher aspects of this, as if it were a SODOM(Ger) 's "Proselytism Real" tune melting into MESSIAH(Swi) with vocals really weird, noisy I must say ala NECROPHAGIA(US) even on the used samples and later riffs, the whole production is impressive, does not sound like demo but like an album. "Night Cry" again shows that face of horror with its guitar sounds, these are really well done but honestly I prefer music much more than these sounds, so boring... here you understand why their forthcoming steps were the ones taken... "Meridiana" closes the A side on this, again I repeat myself, this sounds like "Anarchus" from MESSIAH mixed with Killjoy's vox , quite a solid mixture, I never thought something like these two ways of doing music could ever be put together in a band. Side B opens with "Arythmia", more noise damn it... then "Attack of the sepulcher" at last some drums and thrash riffs fuk! Now I hear MEFISTO(Swe) -like stuff with drums just like Peso from NECRODEATH(Ita) then on solos you get the piece of CELTIC FROST(Swi) that I knew I would hear on a project like this, and due to the rest of the mentioned bands I would say is more like DESEXULT(Dnk) . "The Storm" is more, I bet you can guess now, yes... noise... "Fey" has a great beginning ala "Matter Tenebrarum" mixed with more MESSIAH, great track . Finally "Dunwich Horror" to expose their ambient aesthethics, fully DESEXULT NECROPHAGIA inspired. This demo would be excellent if it weren't for the amount of boring and lengthy noises used between the real tracks, what a pity. This is hugely recommended for hystorical purposes, since it's from Canada, from the golden years with hell of potential (thrown to the trash later). Anyway, if I were you, If you don't know the projects I mentioned on this review, I highly recommend you to listen to those first, because those were around years before this release and, in my opinion, much better. Thanks Victor SOS once again for the recommendation, it's quite hidden and particularl project! APOSTASY(Chl) - Fraud in the name of god demo 1989, dubbed one. Never enjoyed this project but this demo kills. "The night" jumps in with a swedish-inspired guitar distortion that screams NIHILIST(Swe) but then your brains are smashed with vocals rippingly clean followed with great dark screams in chorus and SEPULTURA(Bra) / KREATOR(Ger) -ish tremolos, sometimes vocals even ressembles to Leonardo Loriente from the local ambassadors of deathrash, ANGKOR VAT(Ury) . "Intro" a classical arpeggio guitar, then "Deceased in the Funeral" which made me think, somehow, in "Holy Diver" due to some first riffs, then changes into a demented doomish death soon to explode into thrash, am I too wrong if I mention LEGACY(US) as an influence? Finally "Fraud in the name of god" , I admit this is not for the typical thrashers, because vocals are not in the norm, but that's part of what makes this original, on this track you can hear some SLAYER(US) meets KREATOR(Ger) ideas , the arrangements are great and also made me think of NECROPHILIAC(Arg) , the drumming speed on double bass kicks shines from time to time demonstrating the qualities of it, I guess it even reminds me of KORZUS(Bra) . Highly recommended demo for anyone looking for this kind of unique-on-its-way recording. SAVIOUR(Chl) - Call from Bellow 1993. Tape by Infernal Overkill Productions. Totally unknown to me, these are practitioners of Death Metal in the 90s vein with a foot on some 80s DEATH(US) , vocals seem totally inspired by Barney Greenway or Kam Lee . This project also counts on great arrangement between the two guitars and some mid-tempo drumming that can take you to BENEDICTION(UK) . I don't know what else to add on this one, little intents of MORBID ANGEL(US) too, these demo is composed by "Saviour Devourer", "Memories of a spirit sentenced" and "Diabolical Baptism" , three tracks that will please any deather around. Thanks Animal for this one, highly appreciated! SOOTHSAYER(Can) - demo 1986, tape. Believe it or not, I gave them a try some times and never felt too much hooked by them. This time I was really impressed by myself why the fuk that happened to me? because this is in the very vein of SACRIFICE(Can) , high screams are identically ripping mad, love them, as soon as it begins I would scream "Necronomicon" !! as it if were SACRIFICE itself, or even "Turn in your grave" on later screams, first riff is just SLAYER(US). I have a couple of ideas why that happened, may be, I step on their first LP, which is too much crossover for my tastes, two, their tracks are not that long, but this does not make too much sense to me, so I am going to claim it was just pure poserism from my side. This demo is really good, its titles are "Death Radiation" violently killer, "Troops of hate" with solos with pretty similar sound to BLOOD FEAST(US) 's ones, "Kill Oppression" including some vox ala Patrick Ranieri from HELLWITCH(US) on their track "Purveyor of Fear" and even SADUS(US) , "Build the Terrorism" with a solo mimicking some SLAYER(US) in their track 'The Antichrist' "THE ONLY WAY TO TAKE CONTROL IS TO BE A REAL TERRORIST!!!" just fuktastik!!! and "Deadly Fear" really HC ala CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER(US) , all tracks equally great. This would be a mixture between SACRIFICE and AGGRESSION(Can) due to its hardcore influences here and there, and of course LETHAL PRESENCE(Can) cannot be out of this combo. Highly recommended for ignorant fuks like myself! X-CRETA(Bel) - Patronizing the Heterodox 1986. Total unknown to me, these guys deliver a disturbing Hardcore mixed with Thrash Metal with influences coming from ACCUSED(US) and BULLDOZER(Ita) . "David slays Golliath" is its violent openning. "Exaggerated" keeps the vibe with its rollercoaster of speed, fast, slow and punky rythms, few guitars ala FEARLESS IRANIANS FROM HELL(US) . "Destructive Outfit" made me think a little bit of THE EXECUTE(Jpn) while "The Law of Gravitation" took me to CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER(US) on their "Life in grave" demo, totally northamericandeathrashy with punk. Upto now I realise the vocals not only ressembles to AC wild's but also to the classical German Thrash Metal approach, for instance SODOM(Ger) , DEATH ROW(Ger) , and on... "The Wild One" reminded me of the HC style excecuted by MOTTEK(Ger) on their "Hypnoze" LP . "Oblivion" keeps demonstrating their obscure HC approach with its crunchy guitars and tremolos here and there, it gets weird when suddenly the track stops, like as if it was splitted in halves. "The Heterodox" if this were super fast I would say the first riff could have been done by THE UNSANE(US) , I guess this band at 45rpm sounds like them ha! by the way, this is an instrumental track. "Talks about morality" once more showing their punk side influenced by the UK school , "you really got me" phrase is impossible not to relate them with THE KINKS (UK) . "X-creta Banzai Mosh" closes this homogenous release of HC/THRASH/PUNK music. Thanks again Victor sos for this recommendation!! MISSION OF CHRIST(Can) - Silence in Grave Demo 1987, dubbed tape. This band is quite complex to associate with others because is a huge mixture among so many bands. For instance at first listen I thought of CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER(US) (impossible to avoid since this demo title is almost identical to CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER's one) plus MINOR THREAT(US) plus AGGRESSION(Can) plus KREATOR(Ger) plus EXCRUCIATION(Swi) some METALLICA(US) may be some VOIVOD(Can) and RAYDEAD(Aut) ... what a mixture ah? this band even mimicks an intro ala VENOM(UK) and some other riffs but while beering at this very moment is quite hard to think exactly were those come from, sorry folks. Expect a Thrash Metal Hardcore here! Thanks Victor Ruiz for the enlightening! AGGRESSOR(Pan) - Call from the Crypt Demo 1990. dubbed tape. Thanks to the Panamenian documentary previously reviewed here, I ended up knowing there was another AGGRESSOR in Panama, as soon as I finished watching the documentary, I wrote down their name in order to get their demo whenever possible, because this was labeled as Deathrash. From its very beginning, you won't be able to ignore the amazing pressence of the bass, riffs are really thrash metal and the vocals are making their way into Death Metal. Even though this has a total rehearsal sound, it's clear and you can recognize what it is being played, in "Prepare to die", riffs are inspired mostly by KREATOR(Ger) in "Endless Pain" era, some vocals rythms reminded me of POSSESSED(US) in "Death Metal" and when the word "Kill" appears took me to RANCID DECAY(US) "love to destroy" track, with traces of DEATH(US) in "Scream bloody Gore" LP. "Screams of Terror" now shows influeces on SLAYER(US) in "Chemical Warfare" track and in the middle of the track I feel "Yog Sothoth" from POISON(Ger) kind of rythms, in fact, they sound like them on their early recordings, no doubt. "War is Hell" has great bestial drummings with doublebasskicks killerly fast, this track has much more rythm changes and pretty smart ones, still keeping the POISON's vibe, I am honestly impressed. "Total extermination" was left to close, man the bass is impressively a punching ripping fist! When on first riff now you can hear that deathrash tremolo I was waiting for, later to be followed by typical Thrash Metal from SEPULTURA(Bra) . What to say? This together with CARAS DE HAMBRE(Pan) are the best projects one could listen to from that hidden country. This demo, if it had just a little bit of better mixing/production, would be astonishingly competitive with the rest of their time underground contemporary counterparts around the world. In the end a fukin fantastic demo, I would say a mixture between DARKESTHRASH(Ury) and POISON , you can even hear an arpeggio guitar at the end ressembling to "Sphynx" track he he. Hugely recommended for those willing to get their piece of raw deathrash! Infinitely grateful to Raul, you kill beyond killness!! ENSLAVER(Pan) - Degradation demo 1991, dubbed. AGGRESSOR(PAN) evolved into this project, they changed name, also their style, now it's totally Death Metal oriented, typical from that era. The thing is, the music ideas are somehow quite complex, unique and beyond the established Northamerican/Swedish styles, it seems they downtuned the guitars nearer to what the UK vein was doing, BOLT THROWER(UK) or CARCASS(UK) and some things here and there in the vein of DVC(US) and I cannot avoid thinking of DEICIDE(US) on some tremolos, and DEATH(US) on somber parts with little NIHILIST(SWE) ideas too, may be even some CADAVER(NOR) . Of course the evolution is quite notorious since this sounds much better than the previous recordings with AGGRESSOR. This recording is not bad at all, has some remarkable ideas that try to push beyond the boundaries of the well known bands from the time, the thing is, I cannot be honest with this since I am bored of this crunchy DM style from the 90s, leaving their Thrash Metal influences behind, slowed them down, removed the aggression and got focused on skills, weird-tempo changes, better sound and darkness, in my mind, I need that thrash part that expulses the insanity/rebelion/anger within. The demo count on 4 tracks, "Limited by the Cell", "Deadly Reign" , "Into the Avernus/Degradation" and "Voodoo Doll". For those into 90s DM, you'll definitly get an encounter with an extreme metal project inspired by the classics adding their own touch on the top, not being super unique but somehow identifiable. Recommended for anyone interested in extreme metal projects from latinamerica for sure. CALIGULA(US) - Technical Aggression 1987 demo, RE by the excellent label, Ripping Storm Records. "The killing of time" is its intro, "Crippled Youth" total Thrashing Metal from US in all its words, I find connections to DARK ANGEL(US) with a totally present bassist and its vocalist also seems to be in that line too, ala Don Doty with almost mimicking the Tom Araya's way of fast pronunciations at times, thought of BURNT OFFERING(US) with no hessitation, pretty good track. "Paralysis" starts with a short arpeggied guitar intro, then gets thrashed, includes some cuts ala SLAYER(US) too with great double kicks on drums. "Euthanasia" has some good parts and some that are not. "Caligula" closes this tape, great riffs on its beginning, more agression and DARK ANGEL vibe here, mixed rythms and outstanding bass/drummings arrangements, the vocals rythms are quite weird though. In fact you can connect this vocalist with his previous more Speed Metal project named DEATHRASH(US). I recommend this for US thrash addicts. VIOLENT NOIZE(US) - #2 1986. This fanzine is written killerly with a great approach on focusing on the best of the best during that time. Interviews are weirdly ordered at times with quotation marks instead of the typical questions-answers , I think it's because those were not formally ints but may be face-to-face comments, sometimes made it hard to follow. Anyway here you will find excellent info about WEHRMACHT(US) , SACRIFICE(Can) , AGGRESSION(Can) , TERMINAL DEATH(US) , INSANITY(US), DEATH(US) plus reviews. Highly recommended. CULT OF STEEL(Chl) - #1 2023 ? , this is a spanish-written chilean A5 fanzine not focused on any particular subgenre but in every sphere of metal, from heavy to black. Lots of small and not too precise reviews and short interviews. I enjoyed the followings: INSECURITY(Chl) , NECRORIPPER(Chl) , POLTERGEIST(Chl) and FOSA (Chl) . I liked it's fully exposing local bands across their land, and was nice to see some of the great names there like UNHALLOWED(Chl) and BLACK BEAST(Chl) . My only recommendation, they should have included release date and city, I bet this is not from santiago, but I can be wrong. Great work for its size, 16 pages, and I am sure they don't expect being an in-depth fanzine but a promotion-like one. Good one to check, hopefully this will improve for future releases, this was just their good beginning. This should be promoted outside their lands around latinamerica for sure!
