wafff took me quite a while this time to write here. But here you have the pile of regurgitating hatred: VENOMWOLF(UK) - Storming Power 2018, CD by Iron Pegasus. Catchy blackened speed thrash metal with a good dosis of HC punk. Quite good recording even though this subgenre got saturated since some years ago now, by the time this was out, probably was quite good. Sadly this is a one-man project, but luckily everything played here is real and not crapy digital drums, one point on that, besides sounds good, not overly produced, another point for that too. This is catchy, not super interesting but well done. If you are into TOXIC HOLOCAUST(US) , OMEGA(Gre) , MIDNIGHT(US) and the likes which stand on VENOM(UK) , CELTIC FROST(Swi) and BATHORY(Swe) , you will enjoy it. DEMIGOD(Fin) - Slumber of sullen eyes 1992, RE 2006 by Xtreem Music. It took me almost a couple of decades to buy this CD ha! Even though this is a fukin classic, and its guitar works are impressive, thanks to a different approach used for the melodies in solos and base rythms, I fall to realise how much this inspire other vocalist that mimick that much Esa linden ways, and I found it abusively dull, even in this fukin classic, how decades destroyed the experience of what I though in my brains, was impressive... but, luckily, this includes the "Unholy Domain" demo, where that dullness I am mentioning about the production on the voice, is not there. I found the demo far superior in that way, the aggression missing in the vocals during the album recording, is intact in their demo. Somehow I can totally connect "Hallucinating Anxiety" album by CADAVER(Nor) with this one, and their 89 demo, prior to their LP, in the very same way. I am not sure if my (dis)ability to perceive this kind of death metal got worse or I just followed my deathrash path which took me aside of this kind of music. In anyway, this is a total recommended album, guitar works are supreme, if you enjoy the swedish school mixed with AUTOPSY(US) plus obscure atmosphere and skilled as fuk musicians, this is definitely for you! DETH(Bra) - demo 1986 , independent. Dubbed tape from this monster deathrash act. I thought I reviewed them before but seems I did not, this is only 1 track demo, entitled "Hell". Totally in the vein of TERMINAL DEATH(US) , took me to "Hacksore" track for instance. What I did not know about them, is that they even recorded a previous demo in 1985, its highlight is the vocals, which are outstanding deep growls that will throw you to the canadian scene with acts like DAMNATION(Can) for instance. Highly recommended and a total hidden project in my opinion. For deathrashers ! DETH(Bra) - Rehearsal demo 1987 , the following year they recorded this, vocals are more sharp, probably inspired by DEATH(US) , frank from NECROPHAGIA(US) and the likes, the music keeps the same direction, even though this is a little bit noisier than the previous demo (yeah, the opposite ha!) , it's great because you can enjoy the insane riffs and absolutely fastpaced doublekick on drums, drumming is spectacular, WRECKAGE(US) and RANCID DECAY(US) references here. Totally northamerican in the brazilian ways. This time you can enjoy 6 tracks, "D.E.T.H." , "Satan's prince of death" (written when they were under the monicker DEATH) , "Death to false metal" , "Agony" , "Hell" (from their previous demo) and "Let the rats die". This rehearsal kills, recommended. Thanks pat for these ones, it's been a huge while but I hope you are doing great! DEATHTRAP(Ger) - Downfall 1989-1991, CD compilation by German Democratic Recordings. Screaming death metal with an artwork mimickin Dan Seagrave's ideas, this opens with "Squad of Napalm", a totally DEATH(US) -ish ala "Evil Dead" with really wicked vocals, inspired by SODOM(Ger) I believe, DEATH influences are kept for rythms. "Dictator" has a different vibe, as if it were trying to mimick a kind of crossover thrash metal style standing over PROTECTOR(Ger) 's "Only the Strong Survive". "Downfall" confirmed my idea in the PROTECTOR's sphere. Followed by "Sexual Perversion" , always keeping that technical approach in solos, arrangements and so; then "District of Torment" and the closing "R.I.P." reminded me to SEPULTURA(Bra) mixed with KREATOR(Ger) . Up to this track, all were part of an unreleased mini-LP done in 1990. Then is "Trapped in Pain" demo from 1990 too, starting with an intro and then "Love to Sadism" , this a DESTRUCTION(Ger) mimick but quite funny. "66 Days Till Execution" took me to EXCRUCIATION(Swi) in a SODOM-ish way , I think their most memorable track together with the previous one. "Perceptible mind" introduces the PROTECTOR mixture with SODOM, I think of an slower version of ATTOMICA(Bra) , first album era. "Regular tumor" is the last one on this demo. Different rehearsal tracks from 1989-1991 were also added, "Total Isolation" kills with its speed and sound pretty good, a similar sound to what the EXORCIST(Pol) live tracks had , then all these are instrumental; "Cries of the damned" with good changes, "Bacterial Gnaw" (The bloody side of mankind) coming from a different session, demonstrates much more details in guitars, "Endoplasmatic Process" with some awful SEPULTURA-ish groovy riffs, and "66 Days till Excecution". A gig from 1990 was added on the CD too, with "Total Isolation" , "Perceptible Mind" "Regular Tumor", closing with "Love to Sadism". And a couple of tracks from rough mixes of the mini-LP , "Downfall" and "R.I.P." . This is hell of a compilation, it's greatly done. I would recommend this only to Germangravediggers! MASTER OF CRUELTY(Par) - Depth of a cold Abyss EP 2012, by Legion of Death Records. This mighty project released such an amazing debut album that is really hard to beat. This EP has 4 tracks, "Depth of a cold abyss" , totally in their vein, "Terror... pest... death... hate" , "The final path to damnation" which is a live recording that sounds impressive, and "An Empty Tomb" that closes. As far as I can recall, the voice fluctuating between growls to clean phrases was excellently done in their debut, but here sometimes lacks of power, so ends up being quite a weak idea. The whole EP is good despite that detail. If you are into their first album you will really enjoy this! HECATOMBE(Pan) - Blessed by Horror 1992 demo. A panamenian death metal band with a particular voice, I thought of DISGORGE(Mex) , and doomish rythms here and there, in riffs seems inspired by the classic north american vein, probably DEATH(US) , MALEVOLENT CREATION(US) , INCANTATION(US) , MASSACRE(US) and the likes, in that sphere, like BENEDICTION(UK) and CANCER(UK) , but mostly on tremolos, so the early 90s vein. Includes a couple of live tracks which are ok, but overall this band seemed amateur for the time, may be the production on the tape does not help them and some ideas lack of convergence on the result. Thanks again raul for your help on this!! ACID(Bel) - Live in Belgium 1984, RE 2010 on CD by Femetal Records. This is a great gig by this excellent Heavy/Speed Metal band. Tracks are "Acid", "Maniac", "Hooked n metal", "Bottoms up", "Lucifera", "No time", "Exterminator", "Anvil", "America", "Max overload", "Heavens Devils" and "Drop Dead". As you can see, hell of a concert. The whole sound is not excellent but quite good for a live recording and you will definitely enjoy this, Kate's energy kills. Besides the insert includes some great pictures from them on the graveyard. Recommended for those in love with this band or those enjoying live recordings! BATTALION(Dnk) - Immortal Power & The Sense , dubbed tape. This is a total unknown project to me. Starting with their "Immortal Power" demo from 1986, with the track "Trash Attack" expels a doomish and obscure blackened Thrash Metal aura, with bells and everything, then gets faster and I thought of MEFISTO(Swe) kind of ideas despite having a solos-guitar tune in the very vein of BLOOD FEAST(US) , vocals, if heard carefully, you will find something from Коррозия Металла(Rus) . "Poisoned Blood" starts as if it were IRON MAIDEN(UK) , due to darkness SLAYER(US) "show no mercy" era, to be smashed into KREATOR(Ger) 's vein. "Violent Gang" closes this first demo in the very same line of the first track, this is excellent. Then "The Sense" demo from 1987 begins with "Into the Death" , sadly the vocalist was replaced by another one, but the whole demo sounds good, as a next step forward their thrash metal realm, stepping out from the Black Metal spectrum. Begins with a well known riff but I cannot recall from where, shitt!!! But is in the vein of bands like DAMNAKLEEZ(US) , WRECKAGE(US) plus an SLAYER(US) -ish vibe , I may name DEVASTATION(US) texas too. In fact, thanks to their progression, I believe they can be compared to the evolution WRECKAGE had in their second demo. Believe it or not, vox has the impressive effect TOTAL MAYHEM(Bra) used, is the first time, I think, I hear this on a band despite those brazilian destructionpsychos, kills! "March Battalion" follows , same speed, ideas, strict thrash metal, to the point, no extras needed! This time tracks are longer. "Human Pollution" in the same line, and at last, "The Sentence" , another track mimicking the "Menacing Thunder" solo from BLOOD FEAST(US) , the laughter is also identical to the one used by TOTAL MAYHEM, this time I believe those brazilian were totally influenced by this project. All tracks are equally good. This is highly recommended, and can be order from FOAD Records who happened to release it on CD and 12'' this very year! Recommendation, if you need to fat your purchase in order to save some coins on shipping, you should also get MENTAL DECAY(Dnk) demos and CRIONIC(Dnk) which are also available on the very same label! Den, you made my day with this discovery, thank you very much once again!! EVOKTHUM(Bra) - Violating till Death Promo CDR 2025 by Destruktion Records. This is a brazilian attack inspired by classics from their country, instantly thought of another SARCOFAGO(Bra) clone, but hell no, it has a terrific vocals in the Death Metal vein and mid-tempo drummings really HC punk-inspired. This is indeed a great project from nowadays in Brazil. "Christslaughter" opens this promo, the solo is great with great feeling, excellent track, vocals are magnific, think of Wagner meeting Max. "Acid Ritual" appears as if it were DEATH(US) then getting back to their style, this track shows signs of a really broken production where bass is fukin the whole audio, too saturated, even though this track is killer too, I like the solo works. "Violating till Death" reminded me a little bit of ALCOHOLIC AGGRESSOR(Arg) , vocalist seems different, by last "Raping Jesus with Iron Crosses" starts with great drumming arrangement and violent screams, excellent project! Total deathrash metal from brazil, this band sounds really promising! For a promo, kills, should improve their recordings just a little bit, to get the best out of their impressive works! Note: I read a little bit more about this band, they had another demo and an album behind this promo, with killer sound! take note on this one, don't know if you do but I definitely will! Thanks Joahnes! DEATHLESS(Pan) - Compression of Morbidity demo 1992, independent. This is a band worshiping, in vocals, DEICIDE(US) 's glen , at least a first glance, musically speaking, is a mixture of that band with the classical northamerican Death Metal approach of the 90s, keeping the DEATH(US) , and AUTOPSY(US) vibe... even though is not my favorite taste in beers, this has something quite particular that led me to link them with AGGRESSOR(Pan) , I believe there's something in terms of riffage feeling that seems to be also present here, and despite being done in that year, the sound puts them near the 89,90s. This is a 6-track demo, "Evident Dilatation", "Intensity of Anger" , "Acronimous Beheading" which seems inspired by "Nightmare" from SARCOFAGO(Bra) , "Infuse Trivality" with weird doomish parts, "Cavern of Iniquity" and "Compression of Morbidity". The more you listen to it, the more you can convince yourself that this seems like a continuation of what AGGRESSOR marked in their lands. Thanks once again Raul! indeed a surprise! MORBUM(Arg) - Tormento Insómico EP 2021, tape by Up The Hammers Records. Impressive thrash metal in the vein of RIPPER(Chl) , MORTAL SCEPTER(Fra) some VEKTOR(US) with vocals similar to SS(Ven) , but with more Speed Metal in general terms, so expect excellent guitars riffs and solos, I saw them live on an excellent show in buenos aires and now revive the experience. Even though this country does not shine on extreme metal spanish-written bands (in my opinion), this one is a highclass exception to that rule. 5 tracks EP plus an intro and a INC(US) cover. I was not expecting to listen to such a great EP. Even though the production is not the best, the EP it's really good. I found the lyrical field absolutely excellent, somehow modern but at the same time written in such a great manner that elevates the purpose, excellent work. I totally encourage you to keep an eye on this one! I know they were about to release another recordings, so be ware! note: CD version of this absolutely sucks due to a hugely poor production, don't get it, it will spoil the whole experience, pure crap, tape format suited this much better without any doubt! Thanks fukulo for sharing this band! RUDHRA(Sgp) - The Past 1994 demo. By Funeralight Records 2022. Death Metal project from Singapur with influences coming from VADER(Pol) , MORBID ANGEL(US) with a not typical twist. "Malediction" opens this demo with ferocity and impressive drumming. "Dweling in the Unknown" , comes in with some melodies on solos, then some tremolo and drummings that direct your mind onto DEATH(US) , MORGOTH(Ger) , CANCER(UK) and the likes, but the sound reminds me to SUFFERCATION(Mal) , If I am not mixing sounds up. "Fake Elimination" seems more technical on guitar arrangements and the rythm made me think of NOCTURNUS(US) , I believe it was "Climate Controller" track. "Necrophilia" closes this great demo, starting with some weird rythms, later keeping on their ways, nice work on solos. Another project totally unknown to me. Recommended for deathmetallers! MORBIUS(Sgp) - Morbius Demo #1 1992, by Funeralight Records 2022. Impressive tape done by this record label. I had no clue about this project, I bought some other recordings I already knew and lacking them at home, but this one totally blew my mind. It's a total primitive (only in terms of distortion) version of SEPULTURA(Bra) from "Morbid Visions" era, "Black Truth" will take you to "Evil rites" , vocals are supreme, the almost-distorted guitar, as if it were TREBLINKA(Swe) in "Crawling in Vomits" plus a great drumming work, create a unique touch for this band. "Shadows" is the second track, really impressive, the noises on guitar solos are crazy... "Domination" is the final track, fuk nooo... only three tracks!! Same line as before, great arrangements and drumming. This is one of the best projects I have listened to coming from those places. To kick your jaw and break it into thousand pieces, an "Immortal Rites" cover was included, holy fukin monsters of death... I could not believe my ears, it's really hard to believe this was done in 92 and not 5 years before! Absolute masterpiece from Singapur. Write to the label and order you copy, will totally make your night! I will try to get their second demo without any doubt! SILENT SORROW(Sgp) - Promo tape 1992, by Funeralight Records 2023. Death Metal influenced by classics like INVOKATOR(Dnk) mostly in vocal rythms and some tremolos, some MORBID ANGEL(US) and TRANSGRESSOR(Jpn) on the cuts and few notes, those comments apply for their first two tracks of that promo, "Suffering in silence" and "Pain Breeder". Excellent work. Then compilation tracks were also included, one taken from "Made in Singapore vol.2" from 1992, entitled "Life", music is DM, vocals are not at all but seem more HC, may be some RAW POWER(Ita) present. Next track comes from "Gang Bang compilation" 1991 , entitled "Agnostic" and voice has an italian touch on it, as if it were Lele from EVERSOR(Ita) . And finally "Suffering in silence" form TDD vol.1 Compilation, now in the same vein like in the 92 promo. First two tracks are the best. Recommended for archeodeathrashers! BESTIAL DESECRATION(Ger) - Issue 9, 2025. Written by Joahnes from Destruktion Records. Questionaires are totally in-depth, I would connect this one with LEGION OF TORTURE(Per) , so there's no missing information, every angle is taken into account, that's hell of a tough work and devotion! This time you will get a really interesting TUMBA(Col) interview. A LEAD INJECTOR(Ger) one, I am writing down this one and also ADORIOR(UK) , which are unknown to me and good interviews too. A nice to read one from DEATHLY SCYTHE(Chl) . Killer one from SVPREMACIST(Isr) also taking note on this one! An impressive article about SKAR(Mex) (I had no idea about the band, not my kind of beer but killer info). Spectacular SEXMAG(Pol) interview and the best I think goes for PHANTOM(Mex) , also unknown to me. This issue is a great source of information for anyone interested in the current underground wrongdoings! KAOS METAL(Bra) - "Todas as edicoes Completas" 2024, I believe it's from that year, looked for that info on the internet, it's not written in the book. Well, this is a brazilian fanzine compilation, this is from Sao Paulo, issue #1 starts with an antifascist declaration of war, nice to see this, reminded me of Wan with DEAD HEAD(Mal) claiming no nazi band was issued on his publications, when things turn into crap, a line must be set. This issue is really short, I bet this was originally done in a A5 format, because it's like a couple of pages in this book (it's A3 fromat, so pages are A4) . It's okey, honestly the stupid links to metal-archives melted my brains and almost made me burn the book... I fukin hate that stupid nonsense, was it really needed?!!! pointless, useless and fukin disgusting despite being something outside the fanzines realm... anyway, good short interview with CERBERUS ATTACK(Bra) , no clue about this, I am anticipating myself of unknowing almost every band from Sao Paulo and some short reviews exposing some classic names. Issue #2, start with DISTURBIA CLADIS(Bra) interview, followed by, what I fukin like the most, the story of the author, a metal warrior who experienced the origins of metal in Brazil, this anecdotes are that killer, that totally worth the purchase of the book, the VULCANO(Bra) , EXCITER(US) and VENOM(UK) show in Brasil, his visions (from the darkside) about how that changed his life, is spectacular! I only knew about this show because a friend of mine gave me a promo flyer from that era, I keep it with my collection of flyers and such... anyway, impressively written, changed my initial perspective about this compilation. Issue #3 starts with an excellent interview with WHIPSTRIKER(Bra) , nice to read his ideas, even if those were from almost 10 years ago! HA! Another one with THEMALEFIK(Bra) , weird though... I know it's old but praising digital sales of their recordings sounds absurd even then... anyway... then you have an ANTHARES(Bra) which is good. Another interesting one with JAILBAIT THE WESTERN METAL BAND(Bra) , the last one, also good, with AXECUTER(Bra) , gossiping and the social media invasion from those times (around 2015), quite funny read it the day after tomorrow but these guys were right, now the interviewer started repeating questions, some short reviews, this issue is better organized/structured. Issue #4, starts with brief aneqdotes from different characters in the early brazilian scene, among those, Vittoria from PLACENTA(Bra) , what a fukin impressive words to read, excellent information! Issue #5 comes with reviews and three interviews, SP CAOS(Bra) is the best, but it's quite average, good context though. Issue #6 feels more like a concrete fanzine, solid, more interviews, its length is superior in comparisson with prevoius ones, questions are repeated but some flow pretty well. Here you will find ints with GOMORRAA(Bra) , CIRRHOSIS(Bra) , THE CRUCIFIER(Gre) , a good one with FLAGELATOR(Bra) , DORSAL ATLANTICA(Bra) and SARCOFAGO(Bra) . Issue #7 commences with a Death Metal short review of the genre itself. Interviews with CHRIST ROTTEN FLESH(Bra), NUCLEAR DEATH(US) quite impressive information, first time I guess, I read Lori with those words. Last int with OLD ABUSER(Bra) and some short reviews. Issue #8 starts claming it's more black metal oriented. Interviews with VAZIO(Bra) , HOLE OF JESUS(Bra) , HERETICAE(Bra) , IMPERADOR BELIAL(Bra) and a good one with NECROGOSTO(Bra), including few reviews and an article about music productions, sound-wise, ways in the underground. Honestly, this issue sucks badly due to using a kind of template for the interviews, the same cuestions are used among bands, feels totally void and not done with real interest in the bands. Issue #9 is just a mention to different classic projects in the underground, anyone doing homeworks would already know, I found it a waste of paper, but could be helpful only for local hand-to-hand metal culturization, I doubt that was necessary in Sao Paulo, but realities among underground locations are always different, so who knows... I bet this could be helpful in my unexistent local pseudo scene. The final issue is the second part of actors/actresses telling their underground stories, not bad nor super. My ultimate opinion regarding this, even though one could be repelled by the totally pixelated artwork on the book, front and backcover, this has few highlights, the ones I mentioned, that make this book a really good catch, besides, the price is fair, absoulutely DIY. If you can read Portuguese, I encourage you to get it. REALM OF SHADES(Ger) - #11 . Includes interviews with APHELIUM AETERNUM(Ger) , pretty interesting , TONNERRE(Fra) a Rock n Roll band from France also good one, now seems the author has been swimming along the lyrics of the interviewed bands, amazing! A good one with BRUJA MALDITA(Par) , I had no idea about this paraguayan project, writing it down for sure. A great in-depth int with HELLFIRE(Chi) , some fanzine reviews. Another one with HEOSPHOROS(Arg) , an impressively killer with AMETHYST(Swi) , did not know about this project, references are really interesting, writing them down too! Finally an interview with ATOM SMASHER(Ger) and some well-written-to-the-point reviews. Once again, is great to see words regarding the curated selection of nowadays underground, in such a dedicated manner. Beers for your works Cowboy!
