I am dying at work, no more hobby, the good new world good slave I became... hate myself, with full power, once more... hopefully when dead, I will rule myself in that dimension, hopefully... and now... you die! (by the vomit): ACIDO(Ury) - A Orillas del Gran Rio/Torturadores 1986 Single, Orfeo, dubbed tape. Nothing new here, but I wanted to write a little bit about them in my own words. This is the very first Heavy Metal band in Uruguay, who achieved to be released under the most important label in the country back then. Formed during dictatorship times, they recorded a couple of demos (unreleased) and this single only. First track "A orillas del gran río" exposes the blasting guitar with solid drumming and its punch of reality, thanks to the somber lyrics, clearly said with it's epic chorus: "Veo un monte en un video, veo un monte que es desierto, veo un monte muy enfermo, veo un monte que está muerto, montevideo" ("I see a field on a video, I see a field that is a desert, I see a field very sick, I see a field that is dead, montevideo" a game of words with the name of the capital city, montevideo). "Torturadores" (torturers) , is not even less direct, just a pointing finger to the armed arm of the law, fuk off the police and the army. This feeds with hatred, the hunger of those willing to be free and those who were suffering during those dark times in the country, specificly those surrounded by people who were being tortured and forcefully vanished. Another carved-in-time-phrase is exposed here "Torturador de torturadores soy" (Torturer of torturers I am). With all that said, here lays a bunch of youngsters that were fighting their own way towards freedom, full of anger and inspired by the classic "Ruedas de Metal" album by RIFF(Arg) , with much less blues on it and much more fierce, but then they split. They had a little "piece of the action" in the late 2000s, playing live once again with the almost original lineup, recorded a pretty good album in 2013 entitled "Al Ataque" followed by some great shows and all, but here they are a little bit far from what they originally achieved. They turned into an ACDC(Aus) worship and RIFF(Arg) . Then they also released "Metalrock" in the very same line in 2018. Anyway, this band is a keystone in our history, and left a fukin great legacy, for those up to paying close attention to their early intentions. You can find an in-depth interview on my fanzine Extreme Resurrection issue #1 done some years ago (reissued now in English). Greetings to my friend daniel aquino who allowed me to get a decent audio digitalization from this cult masterpiece!! This is something I would immediately run to tell Pablo Melogno (RIP) ! I miss you my friend, there's always a new chance to call your name once more! Greetings perro! Nice to exchange words once in a while, sober or not HA!! NEX CARNIS(Ira) - Black Eternity EP 2019. I do not own this one, yet, but my friend Incruent (beers man!), exchanged with me his works. I was having some beers with my friend Andres van drunken, when my brains spitted "NEX CARNIS from Iran, you will love it", then grab my CD from their first full album "Obscure visions from the Dark" and played it. Now with the war and all that, I thought of them and decided to throw him some words, and we wrote to each other for some minutes, this EP came up on the conversation, I hadn't had the chance to listen to it, now I did, this is a 2 track EP released on 7" by Blood Harvest Records. Starting with "Last Gleams of a Fallen Conscience", you know this is them, the intrincated music composition and the environment they deliver is quite unique, I can only think of GODLESS(Gre) (beers my friend chris!). I find some improvements if I compare this with their previous work, probably the production, since it sounds much more organic and not that polished, but it's not super raw either (note: drumming recordings and mastering was done in chile!). I remember them claiming they were twisted death metal, and believe me, it is twisted! "The Fathomless Caverns of Oblivion" it's the next attack, which dives, like in the first track, with cuts and mixture of rythms, arrangements and passages, tremolos, mid tempos and blasts, this drummer is fukin skilled. Just like in their debut, the artwork is classicly impressive, suiting the music perfectly,it makes me think of IMPERATOR(Pol) 's "Time before Time" album inner sleeve, again. Absolutely recommended for those into 90s death metal with a fukin different touch. CARRIE(Ger) - Secrets 1986. Recommended by my friend Phil (you were right about my tastes!), this is a Heavy Metal project from Germany, with similarities to WARLOCK(Ger) in the "Burning the witches" era, so you know you are getting something exquisite! Starting with "The show is over" , arghh... love her tune. "Assassin" is more Speed Metal and keeps the mood with "Heroes Never Return", which happens to start just like "Donde la tierra se termina" by ALVACAST(Ury) , and man, this is not the first time I review a german Heavy Metal classic and link them to ALVACAST, read my ATLAIN(Ger) review! "Dance the Wire" strikes with a fukin great riff but it's instrumental and the A side closes with the melodies of "Got to Sort Myself Out" (but I liked it anyway) , thought of "Without you" by WARLOCK. Side B starts with "My Own Way" just like "Man on the Silver Mountain" by RAINBOW(UK) with some present keyboard that transports you just right there, almost a decade before this release, the vocal expression makes me think of something japanese like RAJAS(Jpn) , "Secret Place to Hide" it's rock n roll heavy metal with great fukin feeling, followed by the omonimous "Carrie" , arghhh rock speed at its best! "Just for one Night" begins with a keyboard that made me think of NENA(Ger) HAHA! I like it too honestly. Dying out with "We rock the Nations" starting with a riff I know from TYRANT(Ger) 's "Ready for love" , not cloned, just similar. This is a fukin amazing Heavy Rock band. After these words, do you still need me to recommend it to you!? ORIGINAL SIN(US) - Sin will find you 1986, Cobra Records. Following another of my friend phil recommendations, got this one. This time more Speed Metal. This is supposed to be a whole female band, but it seems it was just marketing, this is the EXORCIST(US) band, plus a vocalist, who happens to be the sister of VIRGIN STEEL(US) 's vocalist. Believe me, in my case I prefer this over EXORCIST HA HA! It's plain and simple, catchy, straight to the point Speed metal with great vocals and effects. The whole A side is memorable, which includes the following tracks: "conjuration of the watcher", "the curse", "to the devil a daughter", "a slice of finger" and "bitches from hell". Side B comes with "succubus", "pandora's box" , "thunder war", "enchantress of death" and "disease bombs". If this was unknown to you, the same way it was to me, I absolutely recommend you to get it! Danke schön ohne-magen phil!! DARKNESS(Ger) - The Evil Curse Demo 1985. dubbed tape. Think of SAVAGE DEATH(US) , BLACK DETHE(US) , BATHORY(Swe) , VENOM(UK) , POISON(Ger) , KREATOR(Ger) mixture , really obscure Thrash Metal absolutely recommended. Tracks are "Intro" (too long honestly, so take note on your deck's counter!), "Victims", "Infernal Declaration" and "Armageddon". I cannot believe I was missing this, their first LP is too plain and not too remarkable in my opinion, but this demo is killer! Their best by fukin far! Thanks steppe for encouraging me to get back to this! Ein Scheißekopf braucht ein anderen Scheißekopf, nicht wahr? DARKNESS(Ger) - Titanic War Demo 1986. dubbed tape. Second good demo from these german thrashers. This time its direction got bent a little bit. Could be compared with SODOM(Ger) mixed with CELTIC FROST(Swi) and its roots on early KREATOR(Ger) . I thought of OUTRAGE(Ger) too. Tracks are "intro", "The Evil Curse", "Hear the Cry", "Iron Force" which alos ressembles to DEATH ATTACK(Ger) demo, "Torment Declaration" and "Kingdom of Death". These two demos are sung by the drummer Torturer, having quite a unique aura. Even though the band claim the "Spawn of the Dark one Demo" from 1986, was a huge step forward, in my opinion, the change in vocals made them lose some of their originality, being more like KREATOR, so I think these two demos are the key! If you laugh at those listening to demos, well, here you have another proof why they are so important, and you are out of the real realm of darkness. ATOMIC AGGRESSOR(Chl) - Bloody Ceremonial demo 1989. Astonishingly reissued by Xtreem Music Records on 10'', it was nice to see the Blasphemer Fanzine concert flyer with ANGKOR VAT(Ury) logo and a super weird INNER SANCTUM(Ury) logo hahaha , I never realised that was there, not sure if I've seen it before on some other reissue, probably I forgot about it. This cult masterpiece starts with "Beyond reality" , fukin killer track that will penetrate the cortex of your brain, followed by "Bleed in the Altar" with fast cuts and exquisite changes with impressive riffs, its omonimous and equally restless "Bloody Ceremonial", and the incredible piece of musical compositions done in "The Session" just make your nightmares come fukin true! Four tracks of furious chilean MORBID ANGEL(US) -inspired Death Metal from the fukin grave, so expect highclass solo works!! Pretty difficult to add more words on something that great, just fukin listen to it!!! TOXIC TRASH(SVK) - Toxic Trash 1991, dubbed tape. Years have passed, and still no reissue for this recording. When initially got into DEMENTOR(Svk) 's music, like I wrote here before, got to this one too, more or less at the same time, just checking music from Slovakia. Obscure Thrash Metal influenced by the German wave, KREATOR(Ger), SODOM(Ger) , POISON(Ger) , but with the slovak touch on it, something that take me to bands like TERMINATOR(Cze) and ASSESSOR(Cze) due to the aggression and pronunciation, even MESSIAH(Swi) , NECRODEATH(Ita) and SEPULTURA(Bra) can be referenced. Even though Martin told me this was going to be out on vinyl, then on CD, there's nothing more than digital audios on a bandcamp site (and even though those can be freely downloaded as WAV, are lossy files). Total disrespect for a piece of their metal history, too unfortunate. Tracks for side A are "Nádhemerný dázd" , "Perzeus", "Ćarodejníkov Pláśt" and "Tazký Trest". Side B start with "Corpse Death" you will find SARCOFAGO(Bra) 's "Satanic lust" inspiration here, a title used for this pseudo digital reissue, followed by "Predsa" , "Stádo" ressembling to AFFLICTED CONVULSION(Swe) mixed with DEATH(US), "Pochod zla" took me to CROSS(Ury) on their "NN" track, and "Thrash Mania". Recommended for archeodeathrashers! KAR(Svk) - Dni Temna Demo 1991. CDR w/mp3 shit. To keep on the very same year and country, here you have a total 90s Death Metal project with a really obscure twist, when most catchy takes me to HETSHEADS(Swe) and vocals can lead you to DARK(Cze) , I'd say it's an eastern bloc Thrash Metal influenced project mixed with Obituary(US) too. This is a really nice recording to find, anyone having a proper master/tape please write to me! Tracks are "Intro", "RIP", "Apokalypsa", "Evil", "Konec Zivota" , "Dni Temna" , "INRI" , Krvava Stuchlina" and "Znicenie Vatikanu" . Recommended for deathmaniacs! NOTORICA(Svk) - Rozklad Demo 1991, CDR w/mp3 shit. Another interesting 6 tracks demo, again same country and year, this time a little bit rawer and thrasher but equally obscure. "Deti puste" shows great intense and somber thrash metal with nasty vocals, I would mention TERMINATOR(Cze) mixed with SEPULTURA(Bra) , MORTEM(Rus) can also be referenced. "Rodklad" keeps on the same page, "Rieka osudu" gets faster luckily, with some strange riffs that seem strangely unique! "Prekliata existencia", "apokalypsa" and "outro" are the tracks that follow. Do not expect a super fast project, but it has its moments. STRESS(Bra) - Stress 1982, CD RE 2020 by Evil Invaders Records. Portuguese-sung Heavy Metal with some unique arrangements and screams. "Sodoma e Gomorra" starts as if it were ACID(Bel) in "Anvil" track (which was created later), but there are clear influences coming from DEEP PURPLE(UK) and some drumming sounds from LED ZEPPELIN(UK) and MOTORHEAD(UK) . "A Chacina" keeps the very same line. "2031" digs much more into the "Machine Head" album exposing their impressive skills, a little PSIGLO(Ury) reference could be found here too. "Oraculo do Judas" more in the rock sphere, slower. "Stressencefalodrama" gets a little bit faster, some screams reminded me of RAVEN(UK) 's John Gallagher. "O Viciado" comes back with the initial speed , "Mate o Reu" does it too with the speed approach. "O Lixo" closes the LP with some BLACK SABBATH(UK) -ish environment on slower parts and sung by the drummer. To have a little bit of southamerican connections, I would metion AVENGER(Bra) , VIRUS(Bra) , RIFF(Arg) , RETROSATAN(Arg) , SUPER RATON(Arg) , ACIDO(Ury) , DELIRIUM TREMENS(Ury) and SS(Ven) on their early recordings. It is a pretty good recording without any doubt, and the label did a good work on this reissue, sounds impressive. SEXMAG(Pol) - Sexorcyzm LP 2025 by Dying Victims Productions. Finally I am here writing about it... "Intro - Total Metal" sets the landscape of horror, somehow sounds quite russian when on the appearance of its tetric and eager keyboards, spectacular. "Incubus" jumps in, the brazilian-inspired riffs, with the DESTRUCTION(Ger) sharpness, are still here luckily, the snare sound smashes your face with hate; as soon as the vocals explode this gets complete, you will come across with a classic MAGNUS(Pol) kind of scream followed by a great solo. "Smród palonych dusz" is more typical in terms of compositions, not super but has fukin great solos, here DEATHHAMER(Nor) and ANTICHRIST(Swe) ring the bell, dies in the very same way previous track did. "Odurzony śmiercią" closes side A, showing the ideas are robust and in the same strict path, nothing flows out of the Black Thrash Metal boundaries, at least their language and production save this. Side B opens with "Sex z diablem", also starts with an intro that reminds me of some polish movies I watched, not sure if it was "Diabel" or if it was the russian "Leptirica", then thrashes, pretty good and fluent track. "Córy Koryntu" includes great arranges on the intro, somehow ala DEATH(US) , that's what rang the bell, some tremolos are well combined with killer cuts, one of the best track on this recording. "Psalm I - Intronizacja Szatana" sounds as an hymn, not bad, not outstanding either. The omonimous "Sexorcyzm" stabs this recording till no more wax is left, even though the speed seems untouched, the vocals, guitars and drum cuts, help this not to be felt as slow as some previous tracks, choruses are well applied and the scream on "Sexorcyzm" is excellent, dynamic track full of surprises, properly chosen details that made this track a good choice for the name of the record without any doubt, even the outro! If you were into their previous MLP you should get this, it will feel as an extension of their works. SACRIFICE(Can) - Forward to Termination 1987, LP by War on Music Records. In my opinion "Torment in Fire" album is hard to beat... but this is not less than their debut, in fact, tons of improvements in terms of compositions are added here in top of what was previously achieved. This release is much more sophisticated, great riffs, arranges, with much more changes than what you previously listened to, with the classic vocal touch, the signature in this project. Tracks are "Forward to Termination" , "Terror Strikes" , the classic "Re-animation", "Afterlife" with its killer tremolos and "Flames of Armageddon" to close side A. "The Entity" giving more space to bass works, opens side B, followed by "Forever Enslaved", the bombing "Cyanide", "Light of the End" and the mindfuk of "Pyrokinesis" to kill it. Another classic hard to add words that weren't already said. GEHENNAH(Swe) - Hard Rocker 1995 LP, RE by Critical Mass Recordings 2018. Classical drunk Black/Thrash Metal in all its words, with a touch of evilness on its vocals. Probably one of the first bands I dug years ago on the genre, when this music style was not overpopulated, or may be it was, but not that accessible like it is nowadays. I absolutely encourage you to get your hands on this one if you are into the style. "Hardrocker" , "Say hello to Mr.Fist", "I am the wolf" , "Bombraid over Paradise" and "Piss of I'm drinking" are the tracks I can remember right now, and total highlights, but the whole album kills and its artwork screams it. Ready to metaldrink? MOLECULAR REPULSION(Can) - Veil of Deception 1991. I don't have it. AUTOPSY(US) , HELLWITCH(US) , DEATH(US) , CYNIC(US) , HEXX(US) , MORBID SAINT(US) and ATHEIST(US) seem to have inspired this album, you can appreciate that when the introduction "Molecular Repulsion" starts. "Sadistic Spectator" comes with vocals quite atypical and mad, still takes me to Chris Reifert's ways, mixed with what one would find on MALLICIOUS ONSLAUGHT(US) first album, and some outer-space thrash metal compositions, pretty crazy, I'd bet VEKTOR(US) knew them. "Ephemera" another instrumental song full of great passages through skilled-as-fuk kaos. Side B comes with "Veil of Deception" track, has a pretty insane bass-noise cut, I now realise the vocals reminded me a little bit of DARKESTHRASH(Ury) 's . "Quest for sanity" (not the EP from HEXX he he) has a different vocal approach, influenced by AGGRESSION(Can) where I can say it comes also from EXODUS(US) 's Paul Baloff, expect the same rythm changes already shown, and spices of NOKTURNEL(US) . Followed by "Modern Medicine", nothing new here, in the very same line, and by last, "War over Romalia", more HC-inspired also ala AGGRESSION. I came across with this project by chance, just checking the recommendations from an old blogspot I used to read, and gave them a try, it is not super but nice to check. It would be good to get a copy from this tape, so anyone willing to trade dubbs with me, throw a message! BLACK HORNS(US) - The Oath EP 2012. Raw Black Metal from USA, necrothorn, the compositor, is from Uruguay, now this project relocated here and I happened to meet him and buy this. I saw them live once, enough to realise guitars and bass works were interesting. This demo starts with a couple of tracks absolutely noisy, but not bad. Then "Warrior of Satan" sounds a little bit different, and forthcoming tracks too, as if it where from another session, may be better recorded. I am ignorant as fuk to mention similarities, so more than SARCOFAGO(Bra) demo era, and DISGORGE(Mex) with a vague SADISIK EXEKUTION(Aus) in an absolutely primitive way, I am not able to reference anything. For noise lovers with any doubt. BLACK HORNS(US) - Rise of the Infernal Sorcery 2016. Huge step forward in terms of sound, I am not sure if I can compare this with BLACK VUL DESTRUKTOR(Arg) demo, for sure some EXPULSED ANGEL(Ger) demo, some THRONEUM(Pol) too, still preserving the references mentioned above. As I was expecting, the guitar works are good, its tune plus noise, at parts, reminded me of SLOD(Yug) gods, and vox is greatly obscure, I like it. If you are into this kind of insane black metal, sorry I cannot be more solid on their review but I encourage you to get in touch with the mastermind here: adrianthorn897 at gmail . These couple of recordings were released by Putrid Cult from poland on protape, limited to 100 copies, still available with him, run with the devil! check their bandcamp here: https://blackhorns666.bandcamp.com/album/rise-of-the-infernal-sorcery-the-oath SOCIEDAD DE LA MEDIANOCHE(Ury) - Sociedad de la medianoche 2026, unreleased, only on bandcamp, soon to be out by a chilean label on tape format, be aware! Anarkohardcore from the uruguayan capital city. Expect a violent explosion in your face. Finally they managed to properly record what they do, 7 tracks and a KORTATU(Esp) cover. These are "intro-kamina libre" , "incendios provocados", "La muerte del patriarcado", "por la destrucción de todas las cárceles", "Hidrátensen" , "Soltar", "Ventolincrew" and "Zu atrapatu arte". Short but effective! Check their bandcamp, link on the left panel at the music section on this site. Is a must to spare a couple of words on one person who helped to forge extreme metal the way we know it, and this unholy one is Mike Browning, best known for MORBID ANGEL(US) , NOCTURNUS(US) , INCUBUS(US) and ACHERON(US) . Your art trascends braintorments in different dimensions, I hope you reach Yog Sothoth with the key. RIP. Hey yiannis, this reminded me of pre-necromantio talks! HA!
